Circa 1960 Mahogany with gorgeous inlays Distressing to top Locking doors and drawer Sturdy. Excellent condition, This lovely serpentine sideboard was originally crafted in England around 1960. The wood is a brilliant mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive lighter tones. The mahogany is also complimented by satinwood string inlay. Mahogany cross banding, and a Georgian style satinwood fan inlay. These inlays are present on the top, cabinet doors and upper drawer. The central inlay on the top is by far the most impressive. Each of the cabinets of this sideboard features working locks and the right cabinet has a removable wooden shelf. The upper central drawer also has a working lock. And the piece comes with one key. The hardware on the drawer and cabinets is solid brass that also goes with the mahogany quite well. The six legs of this sideboard are all square and tapered, and have spade feet. Overall. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are slight, dark marks to the top which appear to be intentional distressing done by the maker. The beautify of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape and well used inlay is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. For example it would work well not only in a dining room, but also in a foyer, or often traveled hallway. This is a gorgeous little petite Hepplewhite server made of solid mahogany. With pinstripe inlay and corner blocks or fan shelves and diamond ... moreblocks on the escutcheons. It’s custom-made, with bench marks here and there. It has reverse serpentine doors, one on each side, and two curved or swell-front hand-cut dovetail center drawers. The doors and drawers all have the inlay on the corners of the shell, and all four legs have the dainty maple pinstripe, as does the solid mahogany top. I’m calling this piece“centennial, but it could date from as late as the 1900s. Either way, it was definitely not a factory-made item. The size is very petite, at 42 inches wide, 23 inches deep, and 33 inches high. It has a little layer of maple inlaid right on the banded edge of the shapely scalloped top, and also on the side legs and side panels, which is very unusual. It’s in a dark reddish-brown color. This is a charming diminutive bow front brandy server. The server is 43 inches wide. 34 inches high and 18 ¼ inches deep. It is made of mahogany and has string inlay. The secondary wood is chestnut. It is Federal in style but dates to around 1900. There are 3 drawers over 4 doors. The back of the drawers are dovetailed but the fronts are not due to the curved shapes of the drawer fronts. It is in very good condition. There is a spot on the trim on the left center door that has some a little bit of damage. There is a chip on the right door across from the damage. The sideboard stands on six square taper moulded legs, with moulded spade feet, rising over which are four reeded pilasters and to the centre break-front section are two frieze drawers with flame mahogany veneers and boxwood stringing with mahogany cross-banding and original brass handles with original droppers. The handles have pierced back-plates and laurel wreath droppers. The sideboard has a decorative figured mahogany frieze below the two drawers and flanking either side are the bow front cupboard doors with matched ... moreflame mahogany veneers with cross-bandings and inlays with matched handles. Three drawers across the top with center drawer offering felt lined utensil dividers/ tray with its original fabric. Four elaborate fluted columns in the front. Loads of detail with applied leaf carving in gold under the top shelf applied over small mahogany dentil work. The drawers and sides have applied leaf and bow carving as well. Set of double doors in the lower center and 1 door each left and right sides and all open to large are with adjustable oak interior and oak shelf. Great contrasting appearance! The sideboard stands on square plank ends that support the main section that has two large doors eitherside of two smaller central doors and two small drawers over one larger drawer.
