Crafted of solid Mahogany with stringer inlays during the last years of the 18th Century. The top is a single solid plank of mahogany conforming to the sharp serpentine shape of the case, affixed from the underside with entirely original hand filed steel screws- as a result of the screw joinery, coupled with years of experiencing shrinking and expanding with humidity changes, the top has experienced some light cracking along the grains(review images and condition for full overview) Beneath the slight projection of the top. A pair of drawers on either side of the case flank a pair of doors beneath a larger medial drawer. All of the drawers have the typical joinery, large colonial hand dovetails beneath applied cockbead molding, the drawer bottoms sharply chamfered to slide into rabbets along the drawer frame with cut iron nails tacking the back edge. While one drawer bottom is partially poplar, the rest remain almost purely crafted of yellow pine secondary woods, the curving drawer fronts crafted with laminated yellow pine blocks beneath a fine flamed grain mahogany veneer. The composition of the veneers is remarkable, the drawers flowing from one into the next with mostly pure transitions. Fully original oval brasses smoothly operate the drawers, all of which have fine smooth action and great strength. The case rests over long tapered legs of unusual thin profiles- note the fragility of the toes. How each leg comes as close to a point as possible while raising the substantial weight of this great case. The underside is untouched, revealing a simple and effective joinery- the serpentine medial blade is pseudo-dovetailed into either front leg(note the half-dovetail form they are cut into on either end) the flanking blades tenoned into the legs with double tongues. Circa 1960 Mahogany with gorgeous inlays Distressing to top Locking doors and drawer Sturdy. Excellent condition, This lovely serpentine sideboard was originally crafted in England around 1960. The wood is a brilliant mahogany which has developed a rich patina over the years. It boasts a lovely grain with some very impressive lighter tones. The mahogany is also complimented by satinwood string inlay. Mahogany cross banding, and a Georgian style satinwood fan inlay. These inlays are present on the top, cabinet doors and upper drawer. The central inlay on the top is by far the most impressive. Each of the cabinets of this sideboard features working locks and the right cabinet has a removable wooden shelf. The upper central drawer also has a working lock. And the piece comes with one key. The hardware on the drawer and cabinets is solid brass that also goes with the mahogany quite well. The six legs of this sideboard are all square and tapered, and have spade feet. Overall. The condition of this piece is excellent. There are slight, dark marks to the top which appear to be intentional distressing done by the maker. The beautify of the mahogany wood combined with the serpentine shape and well used inlay is what really draws your eye, making this sideboard an excellent piece for an area where you want people to really see it. For example it would work well not only in a dining room, but also in a foyer, or often traveled hallway. This is a wonderful mahogany formal style sideboard. With a serpentine shaped front, and six drawers ... moretotal that dates from the 1940's. Although it looks like it has two tambour doors, there is an extra deep drawer in the base with a simulated drawer in the front. The outside drawers are all reverse curved with picture frame molding and a beautiful embossed eagle, and formal style brass hardware. The two inside drawers have serpentine fronts. It’s a gorgeous piece of obviously high quality, although we don‘t see a brand name on it. It’s solid mahogany and the top has been re-sprayed in a medium gloss finish to reveal the grains of the solid wood used in this sideboard. The overall size is 67 inches wide, 23.5 inches deep, and 38 inches high. The depth of the tambour roll drawer is 31 inches wide and 20 inches deep, and 9.75 inches high. The top drawer is 5.5 inches high. The two outside drawers are 12 inches wide and 20 inches deep. Antique Mahogany Federal Style Inlaid Brandy Server Small Bow Front
This is a charming diminutive bow front brandy server. The server is 43 inches wide. 34 inches high and 18 ¼ inches deep. It is made of mahogany and has string inlay. The secondary wood is chestnut. It is Federal in style but dates to around 1900. There are 3 drawers over 4 doors. The back of the drawers are dovetailed but the fronts are not due to the curved shapes of the drawer fronts. It is in very good condition. There is a spot on the trim on the left center door that has some a little bit of damage. There is a chip on the right door across from the damage. Crafted in the mid-20th Century, this fine American Federal Style Inlaid Mahogany Sideboard comes from one of the east coast's finest furniture manufacturers. Entirely bench made. The piece is joined with hand cut dovetails, machine beveled panels that slide into rabbets in the frame throughout and fine stamped hardware. The grains selected for the mahogany surfaces simply glow, reflecting warm light in soft parallel rays. Each front panel is framed in squared stringer inlays with notched corners, the legs decorated with hanging bellflower inlays and the apron finished with fine bands of ebony and golden stringer inlay. Mostly untouched since it's craftsmanship and still retaining it's original labels, this is a fine selection for anyone passionate about the period. For sale is an absolutely gorgeous Chippendale sideboard. This sideboard was part of an estate in the Dunes section of Myrtle Beach. I planned to use it in my home but. Unfortunately, that didn't work out. This is way less than I paid for it, but I probably paid too much and the economy is different now. This beautiful antique sideboard appears to have its original finish. It has 8 great ball& claw feet. The drawer& door pulls appear to be original. It has a couple of felt lined drawers I assume for silver flatware. It has a metal lined drawer I assume to cool wine or food( It is a relatively large piece of furniture which would be the focal point of any room. The dimensions of the sideboard are: Height 43 1/2 inches Length 72 inches Depth 24 inches Center height 27 inches Of course. This is a mahogany formal style Chippendale sideboard with a rope carved top. Swell-front with a step back outside, and an applied ... morebracket foot base. Dating from the early 1940s, it is made and sold by the Drexel Furniture Company, as stamped on the inside. It also has a blue label from the Mahogany Association, guaranteeing that all exterior pieces are real mahogany or mahogany faced. It has solid brass heavy carved hardware on the dovetail drawers, doors, and flat drawers. It also has two oversized doors with shelves fixed in the center, and picture frame molding across all the doors. Above the doors are flat-front dovetail drawers on each side of the cabinet. In the center, there is a curved section that breaks out about 1.5 inches from the sides, and that section has four graduated height dovetail drawers that provide tons of storage. A very fine antique. Circa 1920's, solid mahogany Louis XV style sideboard, the front drawers and sides with veneers and bands of parquet inlay, the sideboard front corners wth walnut burl. It is finely carved on legs, skirt, and stretchers with scrolling acanthus leaves. The straight back legs, and the center drawer, are fluted. The Belgian black marble top with beveled edge is fine without damage or repairs. It measures 7" 84" wide by 3'1" 37" tall by 23" deep. Possibly Arts& Crafts or Art Nouveau, circa 1900, with beautiful stained glass decorations and tulip shaped lighting and brass shelf brackets. The doors on the bar have a brass mesh insert. I am told this piece came out of a restaurant in Santa Barbara. The stained/leaded glass is done in a grape/grapevine pattern in purple and green. The two side cabinets have a full pane of stained glass down the outside and the upper section has stained glass on the inside. As well as small sections of stained glass at the front-top. The section above the mirror has stained glass across the front and mirrored tiles above the lights. The lights are pink and green. The largest light in the middle is approximately 9 inches in diameter. ... moreAnd there are smaller lights above each side cabinet, and the brass shelf brackets each have 3 small lights, five being pink and one being green. The side cabinets should have four glass shelves each. But one is missing from the left cabinet. This is huge- 12 feet wide and 8 feet tall and 16 inches deep overall(approximately) The center bar section is 7 feet 2 inches wide and 37 inches tall and 12 inches deep. The mirror is 7 feet 2 inches wide and 4 feet 4 inches tall at the sides and 5 feet tall at the center and 12 inches deep at the top. The two side cabinets are each 8 feet tall and 2 feet wide and 14 inches deep. With the top being 29 inches wide and 16 inches deep. The condition is pretty good considering the age. The two side cabinets originally had doors which are now gone. And the stained glass located at the top of those sections look like they might have been pieced together from glass that had been in the doors. That is the only major condition issue. One of the light fixtures is missing one piece of glass, but it can be turned so that it is not noticeable. Antique Imperial Mahogany Tea Cart Glass Tray1930s
Up for bid is an Antique Imperial Mahogany Tea Cart from the 1930s. It is in good condition for it's age with only minor signs of surface wear and use which can be seen in pictures. The only other condition issue is that the spokes in the wheels are slightly loose- which makes one wheel tilt a TINY bit that does not affect the rolling. The axle and wheel hub are solidly attached. The cart still rolls fine but the spokes would be best reglued. It has the Imperial Logo decal In the drawer. Without the folding leaves up it measures 28" long. 18" wide, and 28" tall. With the leaves up it measures 39" wide. It has a handle for pushing that folds down, a glass shelf insert that moves in and out, and a bottom wooden shelf. The wood legs are carved.
