There are a couple of small trim pieces where the backsplash meets the base that are missing, a couple that are loose. The top section of the backsplash has seperated and a couple small pieces of carved trimwork are missing as a result(can be seen in the pics) There is a small a chip on the front left edge of the table surface. One of the locks is missing from one of the doors and there is a stain on the top that can be clearly seen in the photo. Im sure there are other bumps/bruises but nothing glaring. All that having been said, this piece is really stunning in person and all of the condition issues are fairly simple repairs. The flaws I mentioned are only noticed upon close scrutiny and have never been pointed out to me by anyone who has seen it in person. Original finish is in good shape, just as it appears in the photos. The color, in person, is probably somewhere between the lightest and darkest photos. The carving on this piece is AWESOME! The quartersawn grain is heavy and pronounced. Bought this piece and the matching server, which I will be listing soon) to restore but I am out of time/space. I feel I have a reasonable opening bid on this piece but if it does not sell, I will restore it and the price will go up considerably. Personally, im kinda getting burned out on the figurals and winged griffins that usually adorn pieces of this quality so its nice to see a great piece without that typical subject matter. Awesome Retro drawer pulls from Circa 1950. BEING SOLD AS A SET OF 4* I think these pulls would work perfectly as Art Deco or Midcentury.These I have custom finished. These have a brushed stainless steel/nickel color& look to them.They were buffed down to bare metal and have a gently brushed metal finish which I sealed with gloss laquer. This is the original casting metal with a clear sealer. It is not silver paint. Inside looks very good considering its age, and has 3 drawers with all 3 original keys(all work} below a interior lockbox(also with key) that contains 2 more drawers. Inside is all original and has not been cleaned or restored. Outside is a dark bronze color.Safe measures 22-1/2" wide by 34-1/2" tall and 22" front to back. Combination works fine and is easy to change. Its on 4 wheels and weights 610 lbs. T he 4th finial for lower hinge is in side safe. Safe is for sale locally and listing will be removed if sold. All the Drawers are lined with a fabric much like a corduroy material, that was likely added by someone along the way. STATTON TRUTYPE AMERICANA OXFORD ANTIQUE CHERRY 4 DRAWER BACHELOR CHEST
This auction is for a super nice solid antique oxford cherry wood 4 drawer bachelors chest by Statton Trutype Americana furniture company. This chest is 41 1/2"wide X 35 1/2" high and has 4 drawers. Two top drawers that are 4 1/2" deep and two bottom drawers that are 5 1/2" deep. These drawers all have dovetail joints and are in great condition with no breaks. Loose joints or repairs that have been done of anykind and also are not missing any hardware. The pull handles on this chest all have the Americana eagle or bird design on them with the three stars above and are all complete and attached but do show some fadeing and ware in the brass finish. There is also a decorative brass key hole in the center of each drawer that looks great. Inside the top drawer is the burn stamp that reads STATTON TRUTYPE AMERICANA. There is ... morealso a tag on the back that reads ORDER# 10969. RECIEVED DATE oct. 11, 1966. Oxford Antique Cherry. There is also a marking on the back of the chest itself that reads OXFORD ANTIQUE CHERRY. This is a super nice chest as can be seen in the pictures but does show some minor sunfade as well as some minor light scratches on the top but nothing bad. There have been no repairs done to this chest at all but it does appear to have had some touch up stain applied at some time. Looks great! This is another wonderful. OLD antique oak 4 drawer file cabinet. It is the rare 3/4 size, measuring only 15 inches wide, 27 1/2 inches deep and standing 52 inches tall. This is the only file cabinet with the smaller width I have ever had, most are the legal size 21 inches wide, The maker is unknown, but is built similar to a Hertzog cabinet I sold a while ago where it sits on a sliding shelf that comes half way out to support the drawer as shown. Vintage lot of 4 unique matching ornate pull handles. They're in good vintage condition with some surface wear and tarnish.there's crazing on the plastic inserts and light surface scratches. And a couple of the plastic pieces have a slight bend to them. They're a beautiful design and have a marble swirl pattern on the thick plastic inserts, which may be bakelite or catilin plastic, not sure but they are old. They measure just under 5" long x 1 1/2" tall, and are 4 1/4" center to center of screw holes, and they do come with the original screws which are easily removed. Vintage Applejuice Pulls Welcome! Sleekly modern set of 4 vintage pulls in a clear applejuice hue. These test faint positive for Bakelite using Simichrome. They are in very nice condition. No breaks or cracks, some normal light use marks that indicate age. A pleasure to touch, they are smooth with good shine and measure 4" long overall, with a 3 3/4" spread between the screw holes- please be sure to check the hole spread for your application prior to buying. I've photographed them on both a dark and a light background to show you how they'll look in different lighting and backings. I believe these were originally made for doors. As the ends are slightly different, with a place at the top that looks like it would curve to your thumb. Very attractive old pulls with much in the way of sleek, vintage modern eye appeal!
