It has a shapely detail carved backsplash, rolled front shelf, large side wings holding up the top shelf, curved front triple drawer dove tail, double curved glass door, and cabriole pad foot legs. The mirror was very worn, so we replaced it with a new mirror. The finish is very nice. Someone had put a plant pot on it and you can notice it when in the right lighting. It has original handles and key hole covers. It had felt lining in the drawers that was removed, the second drawer has some ink staining inside and the drawer interior is bird’s eye maple.

Made in France Carved oak Circa 1890 Carved lion heads Bobbin turned legs and stretcher Strong and sturdy Leather writing surface, This stunning carved writing desk features fourteen lions head carvings. Ten of them are handles carved on the drawers and four are smaller carvings located next to each pair of smaller drawers. Originally made in France around 1890 this desk is a Henry II Renaissance style. The burgundy leather top is great for writing and in good condition. The drawers have locks but there is no key. The measurement of the knee hole is 21.75″ tall and 20″ wide while the measurement from the floor to the writing area is 29″ There are a few drawer bottoms with minor age separations but overall this desk is in excellent condition. The oak wood has a lovely patina and the carvings and turnings of the desk really make it stand out. It would be a lovely centerpiece for almost any room. Covered with fourteen carved lions heads. This carved antique writing desk is spectacular! There are ten drawers total(4 small and 2 large) This is the lower large drawer lion head handle. It has cast brass hardware, leaded glass center door on top panel in the center between the two doors that offers a curio cabinet top that has a mirror back, below is a bevel glass mirror and it is all supported with cabriole claw foot leg supports. The base cabinet has two long narrow drawers above the two doors and the bottom center panel is plain glass. I assume the bottom glass was originally leaded glass and has been replaced. Horner did make ... moreone model that is as grand with griffins supporting the top and I've only heard of one selling in the past 6 years. This is a opportunity to buy a museum quality piece of American history that will not happen again for some time. We have restored it to its original grandeur and it has no apologies as you can see. Rarely can you stand 100% behind a piece that is 110+ years old to the extent I will with this one. I will shorten my description because the pictures really tell the tale. Starting at the bottom you have a massive base with bowed and projected center section and fluted drawers. On the ends stand full bodied griffins on the 45 degree angle and they are huge! Their heads are 5+" across. That's the start, them moving up to the center section the curio top is supported by 4 massive ball and claw feet and carved ankles. Three beveled mirrors comprise the back filler section and this all supports this massive curio glass top. The top consists of a total of 12 beveled and mirrored glass' the bonnets are carved with radius doors and a arched hood then topped with a huge 16" carved lions head in the center. Within the arch is a carved frieze board with fighting griffins holding a carved crest of sorts. I'm trying to stop I promise but it's a exciting piece! The hardware is the heaviest detailed hardware I've seen on a piece with the greatest detail, carved lions heads and faces with manes. Every screw to every piece of hardware was there and we cleaned every piece and reapplied them. Fantastic piece that deserves the proper home. The wood remains as beautiful as ever, with a lovely patina, a rich complexion, and a highly pronounced"tiger" oak grain. The design of this piece is distinctly Jacobean: the beaded edging, paneled doors, teardrop pulls, and hanging finials are all common design elements in Jacobean period furniture. Each drawer features ... moredovetailed joints, while the top simply lifts off of the base for easy movement. The two lower cabinets also lock with an accompany key; the locks continue to operate very smoothly. This listing is for the beautiful antique Victorian golden oak sidebar/buffet/china cabinet one piece unit with 7 drawer s that I have pictured for you. We have used it in our home for many years as an entertainment center and bookshelves/doll display area. The drawers have been used to store DVDs. VHS tapes, books, DVD player, as well as other things. The unit is 79 inches wide at the top. The end panels extend out from the wall 17 inches. The shelf where the TV is placed is 23 inches wide and it bows out in the center(pictured for you) The TV pic tur ed is a 32 inch flat screen and allows for the opening of both bookcase doors. There are 4 applied trim pieces formed of plaster along the top of the unit and I have pictured each one for you so you can see where there is damage to 3 of them. The pulls on the drawers are original to the piece ... moreas are the two latches to the doors of the bookcases. The bookcase doors are each 50" high by 16 1/2" wide. Both bookcase doors have the original wavy glass. The back of both bookcase sections is wains cote oak as is the inside piece of each bookcase. kAs pictured. There are small holes drilled at the back of this area to allow the wiring for the TV and the DVD player and the USB cord for the TV to be brought in from the backside. The center section shelf extends outward from the base display case 5 inches at each sides and approximately 7 inches in the center(due to the bowed design) The piece is very heavy and will require 2 men to remove it from our residence after the drawers and glass doors are removed from the unit. What I have here is an outstanding Empire style tiger oak sideboard/ buffet circa 1900 with a tag from Picture Rocks. PA. The tag(photo shown) indicates the Burrows Bros. Co. Ltd. as the manufacturer. A fellow named Amos Burrows started the furniture co. in Lycoming County. Pennsylvania in 1856 and the enterprise was sold in 1939. This one is from the Burrow's Brothers unique"Roller Guide Line. Two tiny wooden wheels hold each drawer in place and enable smooth gliding back and forth. Some information on the manufacturer's history can be found on the internet at usgennet.org/usa/pa/county/lycoming/history/Chapter-31.html There are Claw feet in the front and straight legs in the back. It has 2 drawers on top that are each 20 1/2" long. There is 1 long drawer in the middle of the piece that is 42" long. At the botto m are 2 doors w/ post in-between. There is a large open storage area behind these doors. The drawers and doors have beautiful decorative brass knobs as pulls(photo shown) Some minor imperfections- as shown in pictures- are: varnish spot(top left side) slight warpage of veneer in one spot(top right ride) and two spots of discoloration in mirror The 2 drawers on top. The long drawer in the middle, and the two bottom doors, all have keyholes for locking, but no key. Overall condition is very good. Considering its age. We've really cared for this piece. EARLY 1900'S VICTORIAN CLAW FEET OAK BUFFET/ SIDEBOARD Victorian Claw Feet Oak Buffet ~ solid Oak with a Golden Oak finish 3 D rawers and 2 Doors are working properly.
