This is the second of two lots I've posted for wall-mount register grates and included shafts(in the gothic style) salvaged from the now demolished home of a Pennsylvania oil baron. Up for auction we have this cool unusual style vintage iron floor drain cover! The diameter at its widest point is 8 1/16th.The cover at the top of the lugs is 11/16's thick. The stand alone weight of the cover is 3 lbs. 6 ozs. I cleaned the cover with a wire brush and clear coated the cover. There are faint remains of green paint on the cover. The iron is pitted with age but free from any repairs or cracks.Indeed a great item to repurpose! I have another floor drain cover on ebay as well. GRATE COVERS -3 ROUND DECORATIVE CAST IRON
I bought these three 10" round cast iron grate/register covers in the mid-1970's to decorate both sides of a wall where I was going to install a 10" though-the-wall fan to draw cool air from my air conditioned living room into my hot kitchen. I never got around to using them-sold the house etc etc- so they are brand new and still in their original packing. They are constructed in 2 parts. One of which rotates to open or close the openings-in other words a damper-See pictures for both positions. These charming covers were intended to conceal& decorate heating vents, but their use in a NY apartment is limited only by the parameters of your imagination. They were manufactured by Reggio, who no longer makes them. They are difficult to find and are beautifully made. Diameter = 10 Inches $50.00 per register.

Large Antique Victorian Cast Iron Heating Grate Wall Register RARE BACK PLATE
Here we have a rare antique Victorian cast iron heating grate wall register that has a back plate that frames in the heating grate. As you can see from the photos the grate and back plate are in great condition. Often times the flaps that adjust the intensity and direction of the hot air are missing or not easy to adjust but these are all present and in great working shape. The grate is recessed in the back plate giving the grate the look of being framed in like a painting. The top of this wall register is arched and is about 28 1/4 inches tall in the center and 26 inches tall on the edges. It is about 19 1/2 inches wide. this unit is about 4 inches deep not including the flaps. If you have any questions please feel free to ask!

There are remnants of old paint in a couple small spots but I believe this will remove easily. I have not attempted any clean up. The entire register is intact with no cracks anywhere and the vents still open and close with ease. They also close easily.
