Thomas Walker& Son Ltd. Antique Solid Brass British Navy Nautical Miles Gauge Extremely Scarce Piece of Naval/ Nautical History VGC This listing is for an antique/ vintage nautical gauge. This is a nautical miles guage and it was made in England by Thomas Walker& Son Ltd. We are not sure of the exact age but we do know that production stopped in the early 1980's. This is a very heavy gauge and it is made of solid brass. All of the parts/ pieces are present and it is in very good condition. We imagine it would work just fine however we have not tested it. The thick glass face(which seems unbreakable) is free from any chips or cracks or scratches. On the back of the gauge is the serial number AB8357. The gauge measures 7" at the widest point and is 9" tall as shown. The face itself has a diameter of 6 1/2" And the ... moregauge would project 3" when mounted. Antique KNOTMASTER LOG (Model KDO) by Thomas Walker, Ship Speed Meter!
KNOTMASTER LOG(Model KDO) Ship Speed Meter! Made by Thomas Walker of; Walker& Sons in England. Thos. 58 Oxford Street, Birmingham, B5 5NX, UK. Included is the Knotmaster and mounting bracket. One"new" one used rotator. Four sinkers. And assorted lines. There appears to be an original oil squeeze bottle, and fragments of the original sticker remaining. It also has a small cellophane package(contents unknown) We simply do not wish to open this. But, it appears to be a collar, or bushing, or spacer, or sleeve of some sort, and one white plastic tool/holder. And of course, it’s original wood box. Also, the"new" rotator has it’s original tag, with instructions. See pics! Considering it’s age. This unit appears to us to be in Very Good, if not Excellent Condition, though we're no experts! It has what appears to be lite ... morenormal oxidization on the used rotator, and none to extremely light in spots on the new rotator. In addition, two out of four sinkers have a light oxidization. The amount of oxidization on each part obviously varies according to it’s use and exposure, which as you may know, is normal for this item. Understanding dad as we did, we are confident this unit works as intended, and is fully functional. Nevertheless, we have not had the pleasure of actually running it. Note: Experts requiring any test to be run(of it’s functionality) will have to provide us SAFE& ACCEPTABLE methods of doing so. As to not harm the unit! We will then do our best to accommodate! Land lubbers excluded! As we attempted to open the lens gate. We quickly halted due to the excessive pressure required. If you require us to open this gate, same as above applies! Thos. Walker& Son Spinner"Fish" Description: The item up for bids is an Excelsior taffrail log spinner made by Thomas Walker& Son. Ltd. of Birmingham, England. The spinner is torpedo shaped with four fins, each is marked with a stamped anchor, T.W. and Excelsior; one fin also has the number 368. I believe it is made of brass, and the surface has a great aged patina. The auction is for the spinner only, I don't have the gauge.
