Not really sure what to say about this clock- it came off my ex-ship's lifeboat- which was old! This clock is an ABEC(see http:www.clock-museum.co.uk/A-smiths/sm-orign.htm) I can't indentify the casing material but it's made to look like brass- my guess is that the case has been'manufactured' and the clock put into it to suit mounting on a ship's bulkhead. This was working- until I decided to see it and have just over-wound it- so I guess I have to sell it for'spares or repair' at 99p starting bid. It must be a bargain!

This useful President Marine Time Ships Clock is in good working and accurate condition. The case is Brass. The clock is 5.25" wide x 2.5" deep with a flat real glass over the white unmarked signed dial. The clock is mounted onto a 7" diameter Mahogany finished square bulkhead which has brass reinforced corners to protect them. This is all undamaged and fully working. The movement is a battery type. Circa 1920s-1930s, but please make up your own mind about this. The clock measures approx 6 3/4 inches(175mm) in diameter across the bezel. And 7 1/4 inches(185mm) across the backplate. It is made from solid brass. As can be seen from the photos. The dial is calibrated in arabic numerals, with a fast slow adjustment at two o'clock. It is complete with its key. Winds up and runs as it should, and is in good original condition with some wear consistent with its age, but no major damage. This beautiful Mahogany horizontal Bulkhead holds a German made Straiger Barometer and Clock which are both signed. The measurements are each clock is 5.5" in diameter at the rear x 3" deep with the bulkhead being 14.5" long x 8" tall with brass re-inforcement brass corners. This is all undamaged. But both instrument cases are dull with a natural patina which could be cleaned up, but to me the character of this is the patination which takes years to obtain. A useful pair of instruments to be proud of mounted upon your own Boat or den etc etc. Please feel free to ask any questions. They are a substantial 90 degree original ship light with a rather extraordinary and unusual shaped neck. These are possibly not as old as you think. 30 years or so) but they are very unique, rare and brimming of an era when ships lights were more than just a lamp. DAE YANG are a South Korean maker still in existence today, alas not making anything quite like this, these were removed from a Japanese cargo ship I was told. The body has a hinged part separating it from the housing for the bulb. A feature that means you have 2 large bolts plus a hinge just above the cage which looks nice. The bolts however I were in some cases removed, and where originals were in place they were seized and rotten. So some blowtorching and large grips later I free'd them up and put new brass M6 bolts in however the ones that were already done had spoiled threads. I have put M4 nuts and bolts in them as I don't try and re-tap these old lights. Some have green tarnishing inside the housing looks amazing and aged, and yet the housing are actually in good order, the threads run well and all is fine. IT MEASURES IN DIAMETER APPROX 25CM, 9.8 INCHES. MY GUESS FOR WEIGHT IS OVER 6KG, THE INSIDE HAS BEEN LIGHTLY PAINTED SILVER WHICH CAN EASILY BE REMOVED, IT HAS THE GLASS INTACT AND HAS ALL THE NUTS AND BOLTS, A GUESS WOULD BE AT LEAST 50 60 YEARS OLD POSSIBLY MUCH OLDER. IT HAS A MAKERS/ FOUNDRY TYPE STAMP ON THE BACK, THE ONLY BIT I CAN MAKE OUT IS MK 80, THERE ARE OTHER NUMBERS AND LETTERS, MAYBE L A G? IT COULD EASILY BE WIRED AND USED. Vintage Bulhead mounting Sestrel Compass. Number 10218. Made in England. Makers name on the front. Cast body painted with brass inner ring to hold fluid compass in place. Paint and brass require restoring. Rear has dried sealant on. Lamp housing untouched. I don't know how it was operated to illuminate the dial.No breaks, dents or repairs to the metal work the bubble does have surface scratches, nothing that impares reading it.

Vintage nautical ships bulkhead light lamp antique industrial maritime bronze This is a nice clear ship's bulkhead electric light. It stands 5 inches tall x 3 inches at the widest point. Made probably of bronze or gunmetal it comes apart easily the bulb section comes out and could be easily re-wired. There was probably a rubber seal on the glass section this is not there so the glass is slightly loose but this could be replaced to make tight.

Hi.I have for sale a good clean brass cased ships bulkhead style wall clock that is in very good working condition.This clock dates to around the 1900's and has a good enameled clock dial.The case is made from good fairly thick brass sheet that measures 6 1/4 inches in diameter x 2 3/4 inches deep.The clock has a good quality movement that has a platform escapement which does not need to be level to work.I have taken the movement out for a re oil as a matter of course.The clock has a good strong even tick with no limping and it keeps good time.The clock dial has good dark numerals and a seconds subsidiary hand.The clock has a good strong door with thick beveled glass.There some nibbles on the mounting holes on the enamel dial but these are hidden when you shut the door.There are a few little marks here and there on the brass body but ... morenothing serious.This will be supplied with full setup instructions and a key The postage will be £7 to send to England.Wales and some parts of Scotland.I can send overseas but please ask for a price first. And known as a ZIG ZAG CLOCK In my estimation it dates from around the mid 20th Century. Circa 1940s WWII but please make up your own mind about this. The clock measures approx 8 inches(200mm) in diameter across the bezel. And 9 1/2 inches(240mm) across the backplate, by 3 1/2 inches(90mm) deep. It has a heavy brass case. With a thick, bevel edged glass. As can be seen from the photos. The dial is calibrated in arabic numerals, with a fast slow adjustment at the top, and a metal ring running around the outside. The metal ring is insulated from the rest of the clock(by rubber ... moremountings) and would originaly have been fitted with adjustable marker pegs and conected to one of the electrical terminals beneath the bakelite cover on the top. The minute hand has a small bolt on top. And again would have originaly been fitted with an electrical contact. The contact on the minute hand would have made contact with the markers around the dial as it rotated. Completing an electrical circuit, and ringing a bell or buzzer at pre set intervals as it did so. The markers would have been set to pre determined times before the convoy sailed. So that once a signal was given to commence evasive action, every ship on the convoy could take co ordinated evasive action, and zig zag in unison. It is marked on the movement BRITISH and on the dial HEZZANITH MARK A ZIG ZAG KELVIN-MONTREAL It is complete with its key and the movement winds up and runs OK. But I assume that like most antique clocks, it would benefit from a service.
