1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet, Encrusted Bronze and Silver Crucifix,
1715 Silver Crucifix- Encrusted Bronze and Silver Crucifix from the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet This rare and beautiful Crucifix is completely intact including the suspension loop. The cross itself has the separately molded full Christ figure firmly attached. And both the cross and corpus show a great amount of detail visible even with the encrustation growth. A small number of similar religious artifacts came from the same area. And this is an example of one of the few that remain uncleaned. The small amount of encrustation on this piece from the time of its recovery has been left intact. And it is completely stable. This‘as found’ condition is seldom seen with salvaged treasure, and that makes this a very rare item indeed. The Cross measures 31mm in length by 16mm across the arms. This lovely crucifix was recovered from the Cabin Wreck ... moresite of the 1715 Plate Fleet and the Certificate of Authenticity is included.
