17, 18th Century Shipwreck Artifacts, Fastenings
I uncovered these artifacts over 50 years ago on the shore of a small unnamed island of the coast Northwest of Ft Myers. Florida. An area frequented by the pirate Jose Gaspar. They consist of pieces of large square bronze spikes, smaller square iron spike and melted metal. In my limited research they appear to be of the type used in the 17th and 18th century ships fastenings. The ship apparently wrecked and burned based on the bent/broken condition and melted metal. The lower middle item is believed to be the tip of a bronze spike and shows the encrusted condition in which I uncovered all items. Please email any questions. I am not an expert but will try to answer. No reserve.

1715 Fleet Shipwreck Atocha Collectors Artifacts- 3500 Year Old Asiatic Wreck
Asiatic Junk Shipwreck Artifacts: RARE Up for bids is this set of two very rare authentic shipwreck recovered. Very large Ancient Chinese Bronze Spear Heads or Lances dating from 1700-1500 B.C. They were recovered from a shipwrecked Chinese Asiatic junk known as the" Bronze Vase Wreck" estimated to have sunk around 1500 B.C. during the reign of the Shang Dynasty. The ship sank in the waters off Sumatra Island. Indonesia. The Shang Dynasty was a period where the Chinese craft of bronze making was at its peak and artifacts from that period are noted for their beauty and high quality craftsmanship. The bronze lances are in remarkable condition w/ all relevant details visible on both sides. They depict intricate faces and the holes in which they were attached to poles are intact. The artifacts come with their original and detailed certificate ... moreof authenticity hand signed by world re-knowned underwater archaeologist Sir Robert F. Marx. Marx has authored over 40 acclaimed books on shipwrecks and is world recognized as a top authority on the subject of shipwreck treasure hunting and nautical archaeology. Mr. Marx personally told me he recovered these artifacts in 1990 and the wreck is somewhat mysterious as not much other than what he has produced is known of the wreck. These ancient 3500 year old + shipwreck artifacts are presented in a red felt lined. Glass topped display box with an engraved brass description plaque. Vintage shipwreck artifacts recovered by Robert F. Marx are scarce. Especially artifacts like these from one of his early ancient wreck dives. Honestly. These artifacts should probably be under glass in a shipwreck/maritime museum. Remarkable shipwreck artifacts with impeccable provenance and a great addition to any personal shipwreck artifact collection. Very low starting bid. Good Luck! Also. Please be sure to check out my other shipwreck related auctions including Spanish galleon treasure coins.

1715 Fleet Collectors Civil War Shipwreck Artifacts CSS Georgiana 1863 RARE
Up for auction are these very rare glass buttons and brass pins from the Southern blockade runner CSS Georgiana that sank in 1863. Your chance to own a piece of the civil war from a very historically important ship. Included with the buttons and pins is certificate of authenticity by the divers who recovered them to which the buttons and pins have been carefully attached. The certificate has been double matted in a large 11 X 14 format and is ready to put in a frame and would look great hanging in any den or study. Brass pins and needles were treated like precious gems at the time of the Civil War by the South and were hoarded and prized like gems by civilians and military alike. There are several references to this in the novel"Gone With The Wind" The CSS Georgiana was lost on the night of March 19. 1863, while attempting to run ... morepast the Federal Blockading Squadron and into Charleston, South Carolina. She had been spotted by the armed U.S. Yacht America(of the famed America's Cup racing trophy) which alerted the remainder of the blockade fleet by shooting up colored signal flares. The Georgiana was sunk after a desperate chase in which she came so close to the big guns aboard the USS Wissahickon that her crew even heard the orders being given on the U.S. vessel. With solid shot passing entirely though her hull, her propeller and rudder damaged, and with no hope for escape, Capt. A. B. Davidson flashed a white light in token of surrender, thus gaining time to beach his ship in fourteen feet(4.3 m) of water, three-quarters of a mile(1200 m) from shore and, after first scuttling her, escaped on the land side with all hands; this was construed as"the most consummate treachery" by the disappointed blockading crew, who would have shared in the proceeds from the prize. This wreck site is extremely important both historically and archaeologically. Historically because of the emphasis both sides(the Confederates and the Federals) correctly or incorrectly placed on the Georgiana as a potential thre

1715 Fleet Shipwreck Artifact Collectors Pirate Henry Morgan Artifacts Marx COA
Up for bids are these large and very beautiful partial plate artifacts that were recovered from the notorious pirate Henry Morgan's plantation ruins. The 17 th/early 18 th century remains of what was once Buccaneer Admiral/Lieutenant Governor Sir Henry Morgan’s sugar cane-plantation where these artifacts were recovered are located near Danks. Jamaica. The small community named in honor of Sir Henry Morgan’s German wife Mary Elizabeth(Danks” being short for“Thank You” in German. Sir Henry Morgan’s(probably first) plantation was established in the late 1600’s and the from research of land records that date back to this period of time archeologists were able to locate(possibly for the first time) the location of plantation ruins that also have had at least three subsequent structures erected on it. Sugarcane workers recovered these large. ... moreVery decorative plate pieces. The sugarcane field workers/residents of this small community are related to the residents who lived in the same area back hundreds of years to Morgan’s time. Morgan died in 1688 but in his will his possessions/lands passed on to his wife and her relatives. Henry Morgan is best known for his sacking of the city of panama and his role as Governor of Port Royal. Port Royal was known in the mid 17th century as a base for privateers making raids on Spanish settlements and shipping. One out of every four buildings in Port Royal was either a tavern or brothel. On June 7. 1692 a devastating earthquake struck followed by three tidal waves. In a matter of minutes all of the two and three storied buildings sank into the sea along with over 3,000 souls. These artifacts have been dated by their design patterns to the 1600's- early 1700's and could very easily and more than likely been part of the dish service used by Captain Henry Morgan himself. The porcelain service ware could also. Possibly have been part of the plunder taken from one of the many ships captured by Morgan and his men. The first plate is approximately 80% complete and measures 6 3/4&q

Up for auction is an excellent group of 100% authentic Spanish colonial shipwreck treasures and artifacts from the famous 1715 Fleet which sank off of the Treasure Coast of Florida during a major hurricane on July 31st. 1715. Per archival research, it is commonly believed that there were 11 ships in this Spanish treasure or"plate" fleet and an additional French vessel which was authorized to sail with them for safety reasons. all 11 Spanish vessels were impaled upon the treacherous Florida reefs(and the French vessel"Le Grifon" survived and made it back to France as it was a smaller and more agile ship and was sailing further ahead of the Spanish fleet vessels and farther from the coast during the hurricane. There is a great deal of information available in books and online with regards to these shipwrecks for anyone who ... moreis not familiar with this tragedy so I will not go into the entire history here. This auction includes the following: 1) Kangxi Porcelain Shard(1) Spanish Olive Jar Pottery Shard W. Remnants of Inside Green Glaze(Typical of Olive Jars Used To Hold Liquids Like Wine or Water. Pre Atocha Shipwreck Artifacts 500 Year Old Wreck W/ Scarce COA 1450 A.D. (Two)
Up for bids are these beautiful pottery brush pots from a 500 year old shipwreck. The auction is for both artifacts. One bid gets you two 500+ year old shipwreck artifacts. Excavated from the important Hoi-An shipwreck. The Hoi-An was a huge. Overloaded trading ship that sank in the mid 15th Century, probably due to a catastrophic typhoon. The ship was carrying a substantial cargo of High Quality Vietnamese Ming export porcelain. These pots were produced in Kilns near modern-day Hanoi and were probably bound for the European Market when the ship ran into a storm and sank in approximately 1450. The artifacts have their original. And very seldom found, numbered and sealed certificates of authenticity. Also, they have the Hoi An Hoard auction labels and individually assigned bar codes. The pots size is approximately 1" tall for one and ... moreslightly less than one inch for the other. Their smaller size indicates they were used to hold different colors of paint for period artists. Beautiful patterns and superb conditions on these two pieces. There are other paint pots from this wreck that can be found but you will be hard pressed finding one with the original numbered COA which these have. A smaller size but very interesting and affordable 500+ year old shipwreck artifacts. The recent ratification of the UNESCO convention by South East Asian countries will effectively put a halt to all future shipwreck salvage operations which means that these shipwreck artifacts. Or any other shipwreck artifacts from South East Asia, will no longer be available on the free market. Prices are sure to only increase on these fascinating shipwreck relics. Good luck! Also. Please be sure to check out my other auctions including authentic shipwreck treasure from Mel Fisher's Atocha sister ship Santa Margarita.

These ships would travel together all the way to the Caribbean and then split up and head for their designated ports of call. On their return voyage from the New World. The galleons would rendezvous in Havana. Cuba and prepare for the journey back to Spain. They were fully loaded with precious cargoes of gold. Silver, jewelry, oriental porcelains, tobacco, spices, indigo, and cochineal. Hence. The two treasure fleets were heavily armed and were under orders to travel together for safety reasons. Shipwreck Artifacts Civil War Blockade Runner CSS Georgiana In Display Case
Up for bids are these shipwreck artifacts recovered from the Civil War shipwreck of the CSS Georgiana These artifacts are genuine shipwreck relics of the Civil War. They are two brass sewing pins and two porcelain buttons salvaged over 20 years ago from the wreck of the Georgiana by internationally known undersea explorer Dr. E. Lee Spence. Dr. Spence has discovered the wrecks of all types of ships ranging from blockade runners to pirate ships. The Georgiana was his favorite discovery. These pins were extremely scarce during the Civil War and are mentioned in numerous books. Including Gone With The Wind. What makes these pins even more valuable is that they, along with the pins were being shipped by the"real Rhett Butler. The following is quoted from Dr. Spence's article posted on Sea Research Society.com about his discovery of the ... morethis wreck. The treasure I sought was not only gold. But history. The Georgiana was the most powerful Confederate cruiser ever built, and she was my discovery. The Georgiana was lost on March 19, 1863, in fourteen feet of water off of the Isle of Palms, South Carolina, was a serious blow to the Confederacy. Built in Great Britain, the steamer had been lost on its maiden voyage with a contraband cargo consisting of hundreds of tons of assorted merchandise, munitions and medicines, which had been purchased for today's equivalent of approximately two million dollars. The cargo was reported to have been owned by John Fraser& Company(also known as Fraser& Company) John Fraser& Company was a Charleston based blockade-running firm that acted as a conduit for Confederate funds and supplies. The company was headed by a tall handsome Charlestonian, named George Alfred Trenholm. Trenholm was said to have been the richest man in the South and was the historical basis for Margaret Mitchell's Gone With The Wind character, Rhett Butler. To me, anything that had been owned by the real Rhett Butler would be a treasure worth finding. In fact, to me, the tiny brass sewing pins

1715 Fleet Atocha Collectors Shipwreck Artifacts 1733 Fleet Fire Bricks W/ COA
One Day Auction: Up for bids is this authentic. Very beautiful and incredibly rare conglomerate of fire bricks recovered off the Spanish Galleon San Jose y las Animas which wrecked in the Florida Keys in July of 1733. Fire bricks were used in the galley or kitchen on board the ship to line the galley to prevent the cooking fires from spreading to the rest of the ship which would ultimately lead to the loss of the entire ship and crew. Examples of fire bricks are rarely found on shipwreck sites as not that many were on board the ship in the first place and secondly. The harsh conditions of the ocean and sea water usually caused the bricks to deteriorate and dissolve fairly rapidly once submerged. The grouping of fire bricks is very large at over a foot in length and almost a foot in width. It weighs a very hefty 23+ pounds. The entire piece ... morehas beautiful patches of white coral heads and shells attached attesting to its long time spent resting underwater at the wreck-site itself. The artifact offered here was legally recovered from the shipwreck by well-known author and treasure diver Ron Molinari and comes w/ a color-photograph certificate of authenticity which is hand-signed. Numbered and sealed by Molinari himself as this came from his private collection. The area that this Spanish Galleon ballast stone artifact was recovered is now a protected site and part of the Key Largo National Maritime Sanctuary and no artifacts can ever be removed from this area again.
