Rare Map: 1715 Fleet Shipwrecks: Acapulco, Mexico: (1754 Original, J.Bellin)
Up for auction is a rare ORIGINAL(NOT A COPY) cartograph(map) made by the famous French cartographer Jacques Bellin in 1754. It depicts the Spanish New World port of Acapulco. Mexico where the famous Manila Treasure Galleon Fleets would bring their cargo of exotic spices, silks, porcelains. worked gold items and jewelry from the Far East. This treasure would be offloaded in Acapulco and was then loaded on the backs of mules(mule train) and were trekked across Mexico to the Spanish New World port in Vera Cruz, Mexico. The treasure would then be loaded onto the Spanish Treasure galleons of the Nueva Espania Fleet(along with the treasure from the Spanish New World mints in Mexico) for the return voyage to Spain by way of Havana, Cuba, then up the Bahama Channel past Florida and then onward towards Bermuda, the Azores, and then Spain. This map ... morespecifically references the Spanish Forts in the area(including listing the number of cannons present) and the Spanish port(including the"two trees where the Manila Galleons would attach by cables" see"O" in the second photo. it is in French of course but it is clear what it states) This map would look great framed and make an excellent addition to any antique map or shipwreck treasure collection! f3d.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Feog4d72f%2B%3Ef3d-13eb8f00dfe-0x105-

1715 Fleet Atocha Collectors Pirate Port Royal Robert Marx Authentic Relic COA
Up for bids is this rare artifact recovered from the infamous sunken pirate stronghold Port Royal. Jamaica. The artifact is a rare and very large and heavy iron key. Research indicates this particular key is dated from 1680-1722.It was recovered near the site of the Old Naval Hospital Site. This is NOT a replica but an actual historic artifact recovered from the sunken city of Port Royal, Jamaica on which the movie Pirates of the Caribbean is loosely based. Port Royal was known in the mid 17th century as a base for privateers making raids on Spanish settlements and shipping. One out of every four buildings in Port Royal was either a tavern or brothel. On June 7, 1692 a devastating earthquake struck followed by three tidal waves. In a matter of minutes all of the two and three storied buildings sank into the sea along with over 3,000 souls. ... moreThis artifact was definitely present at the time of the quake. The artifact comes with a color, photo-certificate of authenticity hand-signed by world recognized author and underwater archaeologist Robert F. Marx. Marx is the by far the foremost authority on the subject of Port Royal's pirate history and under water excavation of the sunken city. A very rare artifact, as are all artifacts that are proven to be directly associated with pirates. Those that are fully documented as being from the most famous pirate settlement on the planet are especially rare. The large key measures five and a half inches in length and is in excellent condition with beautifully toned 350 year old patina. Interestingly enough, the key looks all the world exactly like the one the dog is holding in his mouth teasing the pirates behind the locked cell on"The Pirates of the Caribbean" ride at Disney World. The key probably belonged to one of the many taverns or even a jail cell that held one of the pirates of Sir Henry Morgan. Full provenance and certification by a world recognized expert on an internationally recognized historically important archaeological site. Also, included with the C

Early 17th century( 1600's) partial Pewter Fork. The recovered pewter ware is in excellent condition with makers mark"E" stamped on it. Pewter ware from early Port Royal is very scarce as most that has been recovered has long since landed in museums and private collections and rarely comes up for auction. Forks recovered from the 1692 Port Royal site are very rare. In one entire season of diving on the submerged city Marx and his team only recovered two. The lack of forks indicates that the residents ate mostly with their hands as noted in one of Marx's book on Port Royal. These ancient 3500 year old + shipwreck artifacts are presented in a red felt lined. Glass topped display box with an engraved brass description plaque. Vintage shipwreck artifacts recovered by Robert F. Marx are scarce. Especially artifacts like these from one of his early ancient wreck dives. Honestly. 1715 Plate Fleet Shipwreck 1/2 Reale and Clump of two 1 Reales
This listing is for a cleaned 1/2 Spanish Silver Reale and a"greenie" clump of two 1 Reales. These coins were found on the beach across from a known 1715 Fleet Shipwreck. The 1/2 reale has been cleaned. It has some toning going on and has some silvery areas. The clump of two 1 reales is as found. It is known as a"greenie" The Spanish during this time period added a small amount of copper to the silver to make it more workable when stamping out the coins. After nearly 300 years in the ocean. The copper metal reacted with the salt water causing a green hue on the silver coin. The green hue is not unique to 1715 shipwrecks but can be found on the shipwrecks of that time period. Earlier shipwrecks did not have the copper added to the mix. Coins from these wrecks usually take on the clasic"black" silver oxides.Own ... morea piece of Florida Maritime Spanish History. 1715 Fleet Collectors Civil War Shipwreck Artifacts CSS Georgiana 1863 RARE
Up for auction are these very rare glass buttons and brass pins from the Southern blockade runner CSS Georgiana that sank in 1863. Your chance to own a piece of the civil war from a very historically important ship. Included with the buttons and pins is certificate of authenticity by the divers who recovered them to which the buttons and pins have been carefully attached. The certificate has been double matted in a large 11 X 14 format and is ready to put in a frame and would look great hanging in any den or study. Brass pins and needles were treated like precious gems at the time of the Civil War by the South and were hoarded and prized like gems by civilians and military alike. There are several references to this in the novel"Gone With The Wind" The CSS Georgiana was lost on the night of March 19. 1863, while attempting to run ... morepast the Federal Blockading Squadron and into Charleston, South Carolina. She had been spotted by the armed U.S. Yacht America(of the famed America's Cup racing trophy) which alerted the remainder of the blockade fleet by shooting up colored signal flares. The Georgiana was sunk after a desperate chase in which she came so close to the big guns aboard the USS Wissahickon that her crew even heard the orders being given on the U.S. vessel. With solid shot passing entirely though her hull, her propeller and rudder damaged, and with no hope for escape, Capt. A. B. Davidson flashed a white light in token of surrender, thus gaining time to beach his ship in fourteen feet(4.3 m) of water, three-quarters of a mile(1200 m) from shore and, after first scuttling her, escaped on the land side with all hands; this was construed as"the most consummate treachery" by the disappointed blockading crew, who would have shared in the proceeds from the prize. This wreck site is extremely important both historically and archaeologically. Historically because of the emphasis both sides(the Confederates and the Federals) correctly or incorrectly placed on the Georgiana as a potential thre

Per archival research, it is commonly believed that there were 11 ships in this Spanish treasure or"plate" fleet and an additional French vessel which was authorized to sail with them for safety reasons. all 11 Spanish vessels were impaled upon the treacherous Florida reefs(and the French vessel"Le Grifon" survived and made it back to France as it was a smaller and more agile ship and was sailing further ahead of the Spanish fleet vessels and farther from the coast during the hurricane. There is a great deal of information available in books and online with regards to these shipwrecks for anyone who ... moreis not familiar with this tragedy so I will not go into the entire history here. This auction includes the following: 1) Kangxi Porcelain Shard(1) Spanish Olive Jar Pottery Shard W. Remnants of Inside Green Glaze(Typical of Olive Jars Used To Hold Liquids Like Wine or Water. Also. Accompanied by I.D. registration tag. The HMS Winchester The 944 ton. 4th Rate 60 gun British man-of-war Winchester was built in 1693 at Bursledon by William Wyatt. She was 121 feet long, and she had a 38 foot beam. The Winchester ... morewas originally commissioned in 1693 under the command of Captain Edward Bibb. While en route from Jamaica to England. A plaque on board quickly spread throughout her crew, rendering them unable to perform their duties. Her Captain, who was also sick, was put ashore in Jamaica. The Winchester's command was turned over to Captain John Soule. After leaving Port Royal. The crew continued to drop like flies from the scurvy. One report lists only eight able bodied seamen still standing when she was sailed onto a reef on September 24, 1695. A few of her crew including Captain Soule were transferred to another vessel. Captain Soule died later, and unfortunately almost all 400 of her crew were lost. The wreck was first discovered and partially salvaged in 1938 and later the 1950's and 1960's.Today the wreck of the Winchester lies within the boundary of John Pennecamp Park and is protected from further salvage. There is little left to be seen at the present time at the wreck-site as all the cannons have long since vanished and even the ballast pile has become part of the third finger reef south of Carysfort Reef in 16 feet of water. Only the history remains of this once proud

The crew on board, including the Captain became very ill. Captain Bibb was taken off the ship in Jamaica, and command was passed on to Captain Soule. Departing Port Royal. ... moreThe crew continued to succumb to the spreading illness, until only 8 were left to sail the ship. It's certain what sealed her fate. The lack of capable crew members. 1715 Fleet Atocha Collectors Shipwreck Artifacts 1733 Fleet Fire Bricks W/ COA
One Day Auction: Up for bids is this authentic. Very beautiful and incredibly rare conglomerate of fire bricks recovered off the Spanish Galleon San Jose y las Animas which wrecked in the Florida Keys in July of 1733. Fire bricks were used in the galley or kitchen on board the ship to line the galley to prevent the cooking fires from spreading to the rest of the ship which would ultimately lead to the loss of the entire ship and crew. Examples of fire bricks are rarely found on shipwreck sites as not that many were on board the ship in the first place and secondly. The harsh conditions of the ocean and sea water usually caused the bricks to deteriorate and dissolve fairly rapidly once submerged. The grouping of fire bricks is very large at over a foot in length and almost a foot in width. It weighs a very hefty 23+ pounds. The entire piece ... morehas beautiful patches of white coral heads and shells attached attesting to its long time spent resting underwater at the wreck-site itself. The artifact offered here was legally recovered from the shipwreck by well-known author and treasure diver Ron Molinari and comes w/ a color-photograph certificate of authenticity which is hand-signed. Numbered and sealed by Molinari himself as this came from his private collection. The area that this Spanish Galleon ballast stone artifact was recovered is now a protected site and part of the Key Largo National Maritime Sanctuary and no artifacts can ever be removed from this area again. Making these artifacts highly sought after by collectors of shipwreck artifacts. This artifact were legally removed over 40 years ago when it was legal to do so. As a bonus. On board were merchants, crew and 1600 passengers, bringing the total compliment close to 2000 people. The cargo holds were packed with over 300,000 pieces of porcelain, and in between and on top was stowed black and green teas, raw silk, bamboo furniture, mother of pearl tortoiseshell and medicinal herbs. About two weeks into the voyage the Captain attempted a shorter route through the treacherous Gaspar Straits. On the evening of 5 February the Tek Sing ran onto the Belvidere Roof and sank with a loss of almost 1800 lives, more than the Titanic. Its incredible cargo of porcelain, the largest and most varied ever recovered was auctioned in Stuttgart, Germany over a ten day period in November 2000. spanish teasure flotilla certificate of autheticity 1715 fleet 8 reale silver
Authentic 1715 Plate Fleet Treasure Coins Each coin listed here is from the 1715 Fleet Spanish Treasure Flotilla which was lost in a terrible hurricane of July 31. 1715 off the coast of Florida. Much of the bullion from the New World was sent to Spain in the form of coinage referred to as"Cobs" Pieces of gold or silver of approximate size of the intended denomination were chopped from the ends of flat bars of refined bullion. They were trimmed to the requisite weight, heated and hammered between crudely engraved dies. The rough surface and irregular circumference of the blanks prevented well defined strikes. Consequently the legends are frequently missing or only partially visible. The Spanish authorities were unconcerned with the shape of the coins, or the visibility of the date. The important features of the coin were mint and ... moreassayer's mark, as they guaranteed the fineness of the metal and proper weight. The penalty for not showing these marks was severe. Silver coins are called"Reales" During this period the coins were struck in denominations of 8, 4, 2, 1, and 1/2 Reales. 006.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%600d72f%2B%3E006-14bfe639ce2-0x108-
