Antique or Vintage Oar Lock set with Brass Socket Mounts Sailing Fishing Rowing
Wow. I have never seen any of these and hate selling stuff I know nothing about but here we go. This is a complete set of oarlocks with the socket mounts. I believe these were used on old sailing yachts in the early 1900's. or possibly those large wooden row boats used for fishing off shore deep sea fishing. The oarlocks are numbered with the following. 7860 B- 0. 7860 R-0 The oar holders are not brass. The sockets are a very heavy brass; they are numbered 1 and 2. They measure 7 inches from socket to end of hinge and are almost 4 3/4 inches wide. They open and I don't know why. I do not have any bolts or screws. Heavy BRONZE 2 1/8 INCH OAR LOCK BOAT DECOR Pat'd 1861 Fall River MA
Beautiful condition. Large bronze oar lock found scuba diving many years ago in Lake Quinsigamond Worcester/ Shrewsbury Ma. This lock shows very very little use, maybe new. The only imperfection is a slight casting mold under-fill in the axle shaft area. The nice thing about it is that its stamped on the axle shaft with"PATENTED DEC. 3. 1861. as well as the numeral"3" I pulled the patent and can furnish a PDF file if requested. The inventor was William Bush of Fall River, Mass. This would be a great asset to your historical nautical decor collection. The overall is 7" and its over 1 1/8" thick. As a bonus, this rowlock will ring beautifully when pinged like a tuning fork!

L@K Folks: I have a BEAUTIFUL pair of Perko oar locks that I don't need any more. These chrome plated oar locks are extremely shiny and not pitted at all. I would say they're as close to flawless& show quality as you can get. The pictures do NO JUSTICE to these. The inside is 2 inches wide and they are 4 1/4 inches tall including the 1 1/4 inch mounting shaft which has a factory 3/8 inch hole on the end to put a pin through to lock them on. US Navy Lifeboat or Captain's Launch Brass Oar Lock - WW2 Ship
You are bidding on a brass oarlock. It measures 12 `1/4" overall length. The opening is 1 3/16" at it's narrowest and the oar rest area is 3" across. The shaft is a hair over 3/4" at the widest spot. The oar rest area is on a swivel and works fine. I believe this to be from a naval vessel of some type. I currently am brokering a large maritime collection which includes salvaged items from many WW2 Naval ships. This was probably from a captain's launch or a life boat of some sort. Unused. Vintage Wilcox, Crittenden, heavy duty oar locks. Quality galvanized steel that should provide years of service. Great find. Has a"WC" cast into them. From Wikipedia: In 1849 William Walter Wilcox. A young and aggressive factory worker, went into business with Ira Penfield, his employer. Together they continued manufacturing Penfield's recently patented grommet(a small metal device used in the raising and lowering of sails) in the basement of this building, and established the firm of Penfield and Wilcox. Wilcox then went on the road, successfully selling this new device, and establishing a coast-to-coast reputation. When Penfield retired in 1857, Wilcox took in Joseph Hall Jr. as a partner and the firm known as Wilcox and Hall was established. Hall left the business in 1867. in 1869 the firm acquired the name by which ... moreit has been known for over one hundred years, The Wilcox, Crittenden and Company. I just loved the shape of these old row boat horns- and the fabulous dark and worn patina- I bet there's other things that you can think to do with them if you don't need to row! It's a matching set of two. Made of cast iron with pin holes at the bottom, and impress marked with the number 21 on the sides. The"horns" or hooks have a deep worn silver finish, and the straight bodies are unfinished ... morewith an age darkened patina that is almost black. Each one measures 6 7/8" long in total, and is 2 3/4" wide at the horns with an inside opening of 2" widest. Excellent solid and sturdy condition. They both have lots of wear to the silver finish, and surface rust that is darkdarkdark and smooth and old and just part of the patina now- it's surface only. This is 1 used bronze oar lock we found at a local sale. These are used for holding the oars of a large rowboats. The opening of this 1 measures about 2+1/8 inches wide. At the inside widest point, the shaft is 5/8 inch diameter and the shaft is 3+3/4 inches long. It would be great to match to another for use on that old row boat! Maybe you are missing one!
