Solid Bronze signal cannon. This is a original signal cannon from late 1800's. I am by no means an expert on cannon. PLEASE look close at pictures and use your own knowledge. Length is about 10 1/2 inches. Weight approx 4 3/4 pounds. Condition is good but does have dings around touch hole and on barrel. Bore approx 1/2 inch. Cannon was forged in a two-part mold(seam can be see both sides) I don't know country of oragin. Cannon does not fire. Sold only as antique for display. Antique Solid Bronze Signal Cannon Selling as-is Up for auction is an antique solid bronze cannon that is 8" long x 2 1/4" wide across the front of the barrel. The opening is 1 1/8" in diameter. I do not know anything about cannons but I have 2 that I'm selling for a consignor so please look at all the photos below. I could not fine any markings on the cannon, it looks to be from the 18th or early 19th century, there is a place for the fuse on the back and there is also a hole on the front which may have been for a sight, the cannon was found outside Philadelphia and was mounted on this piece of wood when he found it. There are a lot of nicks on the barrel and the small ring on the back looks like it was broken. Recently found this signal cannon. And after some research, it appears to made of bronze, not brass, as I had originally thought. It measures 16" in length, and has a 1/2 in. bore, and is 5" in diameter. Barrel is rifled.

ANY ADDITIONAL INFO FROM ANYONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT THIS TYPE OF CANNON WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED! This is a bronze rail or pedestal cannon that was acquired from a long time cannon collector. The entire cannon is made out of bronze. It measures 28 1/2 inches long. 2 3/4 inches wide. It has a 11/16 inch bore size. This cannon appears to be a status item used to mark special events by the people of Borneo, Malaysia, and it was most likely cast in Brunei, probably mid 1700s to 1800s. The surface decoration is a nice feature and adds value, but there are no animals cast onto the barrel as found on the most desirable of these cannons. It appears this cannon hasn't been fired in years, due to the dirt in the priming hole and barrel. The pivot moves freely. It has a nice decoration cast in the barrel. I've seen examples like this made by ... morethe dutch. Probably mid 1700s to 1800s. It had a nice even Patina and some wear spots on the high spots. These are very rare items and do not come up for sale very often. It will be over packed with care. With insurance and signature required.

Antique Vintage Bronze Signal Salute Canon This is an antique bronze signal cannon. It is unmarked. But appears to be of significant age. The cannon weighs a little over 11 pounds and measures 13" in length and is about 7-1/2" from trunnion end to trunnion end. The barrel has a bore of approximately 1" and is about 2" in diameter. MINIATURE EARLY PORTUGUESE SMOOTH BORE BRONZE CANNON BARREL Presented is a cast miniature of a Mid 17th Century bronze cannon barrel with reinforced chamber. We believe this to be of Portuguese design and likely cast in the Portuguese Colony of Malaya. The barrel has a pronounced flair at the front with a large central reinforcing band from which the trunnions extend at the center. There is another large band behind the touch hole which has a dam around it. And lastly a large size cascabal. Its proportions follow that of a ship's long gun, and it is without markings. The arrow points to a surface crack in the barrel. DIMENSIONS: Barrel 15 1/4" LOA Diameter at each reinforcing ring 2” 2 1/4” 2 1/2” Bore 11/16" WEIGHT: 7 lbs 8 1/4 oz. Antique Civil War Era US Blackpowder Signal Navy Military Cannon Cast bronze OLD
Very rare 1800s Antique Cast Bronze US marked cannon with a steel lined barrel. Someone did some work to it on the bottom. As seen in the photos.I am not sure if the steel lining is original or added. It looks like the steel runs the length of the bore. This is incredibly heavy for its size. This is a barn find, and was very dusty when found. It is approximately 14.5 inches long. It seems like this could be a military/Naval signal cannon. Stuff like this doesn't come up for sale very often. I have no idea whether or not this is structurally sound to fire, I assumed that the pressure from firing this would be contained in the steel lined barrel and not stress the bronze, but I have no idea and it should be checked out. It is a very interesting antique cannon with lots of personality. I don't know its history. It has a great patina. ... moreIt seems to be perfectly balanced when resting the trunions on my fingers. The cannon is at least 15 pounds, but feels like it could be heavier. Please see the pictures for more details. Shipping is free in the US.
