Victorian Porcelain Hand Painted Rose Floral Sugar Bowl with Lid
This is a very old Victorian White covered sugar bowl with floral design and Gold on bottom and the lid. The maker on the bottom is identified as C.T. with an eagle above the name. This stands for Carl Tielsch whose company was founded in 1845. This company was later taken over by Hutchenruther in 1918. That dates the piece to be at least 100 years old. It is in very good condition with only a few fading on the Gold area and no cracks or chips. The is a Green mark on the top of one handle. The bowl measures 5 1/2” from handle to handle and 4 1/4” tall to the top of the lid. It is solid White on the inside.

For auction is a vintage unmarked Limoges porcelain sugar& creamer set in a pretty pastel light blue on top and yellow on the bottom encircled with a ring of yellow roses on entwined branches around the middle! These unique pieces have detailed"lettuce edged" handles and are gilded around the top opening edges and handles. Each piece is dated 1938 on the bottom& has the initials of the artist. The 2-handled creamer measures 5" in length x 3 1/4" wide and the sugar measures 4 3/4" in length x 3" wide. The pieces are in very good vintage condition. The creamer seems to have been painted with a small hairline seen mainly from the inside(see second to last photo) The glaze was applied over the hairline so that is the way it came from the manufacturer. There's no identifying marks on this item lot. They are beautifully hand painted. On every square centimeter there are raised paint globules on each. There's hundreds of multi-colored dots. It must have taken one person a very long time to do such close intricate work. They are made of fine thin porcelain. I wish I knew the style so i could tell you. There's no chips. Cracks or discolorations. The two pieces are clean and look to be all but flawless. They are stunning to behold. I see a tiny black pinprick dot on the inside shelf of the sugar bowl. Vintage Hand Painted Sugar Bowl With Lid Porcelain Flowers Japan
This is a vintage hand painted sugar bowl. With lid. It has flowers, leaves, and gold accents painted on it. The gold around the flowers and leaves is raised. The gold paint on the handles, and the handle on the lid is worn a bit. It measures approx. 7 inches across, from handle to handle. Marked Japan on the bottom, along with a symbol, which I have no idea what it stands for. No chips, cracks or stains. This is a very pretty piece, that is in great vintage condition. Sugar is 5 1/2" long from handle to handle; 4 1/2" tall with lid. Bowl is 3 1/2" in diameter. Creamer is 5" lip to handle and stands 2 3/4" tall. Both are in excellent vintage condition. History: These pieces are part of a set which belonged to G.G. Grandmother. She was married in 1912. All the large pieces appear to be painted by the same artist. I first want to explain that in the United States from the Mid 1870s until World War Two the biggest hobby in this country was painting on porcelain. Besides the amateur painters you also had professional painters. Professional porcelain decorating studios and ... moresome American poreclain potteries had their own decorating departments. One crucial piece of knowledege you need to know is that the vast majority of this porcelain artwork done by American porcelain artists was painted on blank white porcelain imported in from other countries, You had French Limoges porcelain, Bavarian porcelain(and Bavaria was its own kingdom from 1806 to 1918) German porcelain, Austrian-Bohemian porcelain and some came from Nippon(which is Japan) and other Far East Asian countries. The reason for this was the United States was still in its infancy when it came to porcelain production and the imported porcelain blanks were much less expensive to buy than our own American porcelain blanks in most cases. Because of this a common mistake is to attribute antique American painted porcelain as to being painted in the country on the backstamp. There was a law institued in 1891 by the United States requiring all goods imported into the U.S.A. to have the country of origin on it somewhere. Therefore we have an abundance of antique hand painted porcelain by Americans on blanks marked from another country. It can be hard at times to distinguish American Painted Porcelain
