Jelly or condiment jar, or possibly a sugar bowl. One side has the small hole for a condiment spoon, but it no longer has its spoon. This is an older piece and it does have crazing under the glaze. There are darker areas in the porcelain under the lid and in the bowl- I'm not sure if this was original color or aging- hopefully you can judge from pictures. The rim where the hen rests does show age as it the very edge is unglazed. It measures about 3 1/2 inches tall at the top of the head. The basket is ... moreabout 1 3/4 inches tall. It is about 4 1/4 inches from beak to tail and is about 3 inches from side to side. I know pictures can be deceiving. So the last picture is an attempt to show its size by a Coke can. It is stamped in black on the bottom: Highmount Made in Japan(see next to last picture) Except for the question of coloring. It is in great vintage condition. As I said above, It has crazing under the glaze. There is one small rough spot on the thin edge where the hen rest, but there are no chips, flea bites, cracks, repairs, etc. These were handpainted, and as you can see in the pictures, there is a line around the bottom of the hen that is unpainted. One or two very minor paint rub marks from normal use- I took lots of pictures which do enlarge so hopefully you can judge its condition. I am not an expert. Pretty Antique Blue Glass Child's Creamer and Sugar~Old Japan
This delightful old Japan blue glass creamer and sugar for a child is being offered for the first time on the eBay market today! Both are in very good shape with no chips or cracks. Straw mark inside the bottom of the creamer does not catch the fingernail and does not go thru to the outside. Straw marks are common to glassmaking and only noted for utmost care in description. A note about this pretty type of glass: it appears to be a slag type of old glass. I.e. you can't see through it, and there are wavy white lines running through the blue. Very interesting, very eye catching! Lid is original to the piece. We know it is Japan because it is stamped into the glass. Creamer is 1 and 1/2 inches high; sugar with lid is 1 and 7/8 inches high. Sugar- with lid it is 3.5" tall(without 2.5" tall) x 3" diameter- opening is 2.25" Tray- 9.25" x 3.75" x almost.75" tall. Label/Backstamp: Both the sugar and creamer are stamped JAPAN on the bottom. Material: Ceramic. Condition: Crazing on all piecese as common with older glazed pieces. Rim of sugar lid has a small chip that was painted over but not glazed. See close-up. Tray has some small pottery hickeys and light utensil-like scratches. Very small, tight and old hairline on rim of sugar, have to look for it. You will be bidding on a 1950s ceramic creamer and sugar set shaped like cows made by Ucagco in Japan. They are primarily white with blue polka dots. They each have a yellowish- brown tuft of hair between their horns and a brown rope around their neck with a bell. One is yellow and the other maroon. Both have pink ears and brown hooves, The standing one is the creamer with the tail being the handle and the mouth the spout. The sitting one is the sugar with the tail being the handle to its lid. Both have beautifully handpainted eyelashes. The sugar has a"Ucagco Ceramics" foil sticker on the bottom indicating that it was made in Japan. They measure about 5" in length and 4.5"5.5" in height. This is for the nice group shown. Made in Japan. Hand painted blue orange teal florals. This includes 4 creamers and 2 shakers. These are probable 20s- 30s. Good vintage condition. The 3 luster ware creamers have no chips. Cracks or repairs. Normal wear and usage. They all measure about 3-3.25" diameter by 3-3.5" high. The striped blue creamer has an early 1920s Noritake mark. The orange creamer has a mark from 1920-30s. The others are probable the same age. The asian man creamer is good- just a small hairline starting on the side. It is 2" high. The orange shaker looks to have a repair on the top, the other one has a hair line crack starting below the round top. Normal firing. Hand painting and manufacturing marks. Vintage SHOFU Hand Painted Creamer Pitcher & Sugar Bowl Set Made in Japan
This is a beautiful Vintage SHOFU made in Japan Hand Painted Creamer and Sugar Bowl set. Done in a lovely Gold. Blues, Greens, Reds, White, Yellow and Black. The Main colors of Gold and Blue seem to have pearl in the paint, with a sheen or glossy finish, Gold-tone handles and trim. It has a countryside scenery on both pieces. In Excellent Condition NO Chips or Cracks, the dark circle to the right of the tree on the Sugar bowl appears to have been from the making of the item. Vintage Hand Painted Florals Japan Covered Sugar Bowl Creamer Set Gold Trim Vintage covered sugar bowl and matching creamer- white porcelain. Soft yellow band outlined in black topped with rust/red florals and greenery. Gold trim. Very faint Made in Japan mark on bottom of creamer- piece has to be tilted in bright light to see mark. Creamer stands just under 1 3/4" to rim. Measures 4 3/4" across from front of pour spout to back of handle. Sugar bowl measures 5 5/8" across from handle edge to handle edge. Both pieces in excellent vintage condition. No chips. Cracks or glaze crazing found. Creamer has a few extra tiny dark specks- a couple inside, one near rim, and a couple in white section around sides. Very minor wear to gold trim.
