A deep Dark Blue transferware pattern with Flowers and Scrolls. Footed base. With Ga drooned rim. And faux ri ng side handles. Lid with pretty finial and air hole. The base is alm ost perfect. Having one small chip hidden on the inside of the rim. The Lid has two chips on the rim. One is 1/4" and the other is 3/8" Both are quite hidden. No crazing or staining. Not bad for this lovely old(200 years) Sugar. A lovely addition for the collector of Dark Blue. Clews Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Dark Blue Transferware Creamer circa 1826-1834 ~ Summer Rose Pattern ~ Urn with Roses and Sea Shells ~ James& Ralph Clews ~ 4 1/2" high ~ about 5 1/2" from spout to handle An early Clews Staffordshire pearlware cream jug with a ruffled or scalloped rim and kicked up handle printed in dark blue transferware with a pattern called'Summer Rose. I've had this pattern many times in the past(only on tea wares) and never knew the name. But recently a sugar bowl turned up on ebay and it was marked on the bottom with a name, Summer Rose. In excellent condition; there is one tiny flake at the corner(seen above) that is either a scrape or original. Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Dark Blue Transferware Sugar Bowl circa 1830 ~ Bowl of Large Open Roses on Dark Blue Background ~ 4 5/8" high ~ about 5 1/4" across the top An unmarked Staffordshire dark blue transferware sugar bowl base printed with a bowl of very large open roses and dark leaves with smaller open flowers around the shoulder. The same transfer is on both sides with a very dark blue stippled background all around. The rim has a ruffled or scalloped border that is painted cobalt blue as well. In excellent condition but missing a lid. There is some crazing seen mostly on the bottom and some minor nibbles around the footrim. But no real damage anywhere and very clean pottery inside too. Historical Staffordshire Pearlware Large Dark Blue Transferware Creamer circa 1830 ~ Scattered Roses and Leaves on Blue Panels ~ 5 1/2" high ~ about 7" from handle to spout An early Staffordshire molded cream jug that is somewhat larger than most with a kicked up handle and printed with a very deep blue pattern of roses. Flowers and leaves with a beaded string around the rim. It has a raised triangle mark at the bottom but I can't identify a maker although it is of same quality and period as E. Wood, Clews, Stubbs etc. In excellent condition with all smooth surfaces. No chips cracks or repairs, there are a few transfer errors, spots that didn't print as darkly as others but overall a fantastic looking piece. Thanks for looking. No Reserve! Early 1800’s Dark Blue Floral with Stippled Background Creamer, 1 Spout Chip
This classic early 1800’s dark blue creamer is marked on the base with a tiny 5 petal flower as well as an incomplete circular series of small marks plus a small incised rectangular mark. The spout has 1 big chip as well as 2 small nicks& a“rubbed” edge. I don’t see any other damage on this piece. 2 opposite corners just below the spout have“rough” marks like“stilt” marks. There are 2 spots near the base have inclusions. Tiny specks caught under the glaze in the manufacturing process. There’s one space on the base which is rough& appears to bed black specs also picked up at the“factory” The transfer designs include a delicate lacy type scalloped ribbon which extends all the way around the top of the creamer. The other transfers include a bar like pattern of large diamonds on all the sides of the creamer, except the handle’s side where ... morespace was lost. Smaller diamonds are seen on the upper curved section on the 2 sides& front, even a bit on the inside of the spout. Scattered over the surfaces symmetrically are small bouquets of white flowers, each with 5 petals, most bouquets having 3 or 4 blossoms. A few of the flowers have pale blue flowers. The leaves are dark& pale blue with dark blue vines flowing among the bouquets. The flowers’ centers are also dark& pale blue. The background of the entire creamer is a“stippled” blue& white pattern, including the back of the handle which is somewhat blurred. Dark Blue Historical Staffordshire MOUNT VERNON George Washington SUGAR BOWL BOX
An antique Dark Blue Staffordshire transferware sugar bowl or box. Dating from the early 1800s. The pattern is identified on the bottom as"Mount Vernon, the seat of the late Gen'l Washington. The view on the side shows General Washington on the front lawn of Mount Vernon, with a groom and horse, and the portico of the house in the background. Beyond on the left is the Potomac, showing the sails of a schooner. The border and lid are decorated with flowers, and the handles have an embossed floral pattern. There is no maker's mark. But the pattern is discussed in"American Historical Views on Staffordshire China" by Ellouise Baker Larsen, on page 237. The body of the sugar bowl is in very good condition. With only one repaired chip in one corner, shown in a photo. The lid has a chip on one corner, and a hairline inside, ... moreand the finial has been broken and re-glued. ST KATHERINE...Historical Dark Blue SUGAR BOWL Staffordshire Transferware Cobalt
Established local business since 1972. DESCRIPTION: This is a beautiful earthenware soft paste sugar bowl and lid in THE ROYAL HOSPITAL OF ST. KATHERINE IN REGENT'S PARK image. It measures about 7" long from flower-embossed-scroll-handle to flower-embossed-scroll-handle. Is 4 3/8" wide at the extended edge of the shoulder, is 4 3/4" tall to the flared neck at the ends and stands about 6" tall to the lid's finial when set on the base. It is the correct lid for the base. The pattern is categorized as a British themed place. I have seen the same exact border on two different pieces categorized as floral and botanical, floral and scrolls, other, however, it is also categorized as floral and botanical, floral and scroll, alternating floral groups. Someone needs to pick one and stick with it. This pattern depicts a hospital ... morealong a lake or river's edge flanked by two trees with a sailboat in the water. Thomas Shepherd is original artist who drew this image from which this was copied and transferred to ceramics. The original engraver or plate maker was W. Tombleson in 1827 so this dates between 1827 and 1850. This still dates to the first half of the 19th century.Why buy today's cheap knock offs when you can spend a bit more to preserve, use and pass on these antique pieces? There are five assorted chips/flakes/chiggers around the flared lip of the base. The interior is lightly stained along with the exterior bottom. There are two flakes around the inside lip where the lid overs it. The lid is in great shape with attached(NOT repaired) finial. This can be picked up at the September Brimfield, MA antique show to forgo the shipping charges. Partial payment will still be required at the end of the auction to hold it.
