Antique Japanese Porcelain Creamer & covered Sugar Bowl handpainted ? Kutani ?
A lot of a Japanese? Kutani ware? porcelain Creamer and covered Sugar Bowl depicting a multi-color nature scene of birds flying and sitting: quail. Flowers, mountains and water. The creamer measures approx. 4 1/4" across to tip of handle and is 3 3/4" high. The sugar bowl measures approx. 5 3/4" across from handle tip to tip and is 4" high. Please note that the Sugar Bowl Cover does not appear to be the original one- its similiar in coloration. But on close inspection, it is just a bit too small and appears to be a different quality of material- please see all the photos Including photos of the markings on the bottom of these pieces so that you can come to your own conclusion as to their age and manufacture of these lovely pieces of porcelain which appear to be handpainted. And this miniature or individual creamer and sugar bowl with lid provides an excellent example as to why that popularity has continued for as long as it has. Lefton China imported their products. Primarily from Japan in the early years after WWII. This little cream pitcher and sugar bowl probably date to the 1950s perhaps the 60s. They are small the creamer stands just under 2" tall and is not quite 3 3/8" long. The sugar bowl is about 4" long and is just under 2 1/2" tall. All 3 pieces are in excellent condition. There are no chips. Cracks or nicks. There is no scratching or crazing and there ... moreis no major wear to the bottoms. Both pieces are marked with the Lefton logos in red and black and are printed with the numbers 794 R. The sugar bowl also has the red and silver Lefton label. Description Pretty cream and sugar set bearing the authentic red and green R.S. Prussia trademark backstamp of Germany(1905) Beautiful and petite rosebuds are the decorative main pattern. With golden around the melon rib mold rims and a light blue airbrush color at the bottom. Some age and usage wear is noted, and nothing to be unexpected for their age. Some minor chipping is noted around the bottom for the pieces where they sit on the surfaces. There are a couple of hairlines cracks within the inside of the creamer as well as an unknown blue stain toward the front. Royal Doulton The Gleaners Old English Series creamer & covered sugar 1909 mark
I have for you this evening a lovely covered sugar and creamer set made at the kilns or Royal Doulton in the early twentieth century. This set is made of premium clays that have been decorated with transfers and hand touched and then clear glazed to give an antique look that is almost sepia in its feel. The mold shape are classic but the handles are very unique. The pieces are beautifully decorated and will make a fantastic and rare addition to your collection as these are early examples of this series. These will display beautifully in your favorite cabinet or out for display. Item dimensions and dating: All measurements are approximate. The creamer measures 4.25" long from spout tip to handle end and stands 2.5" tall to the tip of the spout. The covered sugar bowl measures 5.25" long from handle to handle and stands 3.75" ... moretall with cover in place. Both these pieces are early and rare examples dating from 1909 according to the date cose which appears to be"D3191" Item conditionn report: One handle of the sugar has been broken off and reglued badly. There are no other chips or cracks. There is fine line crazing that is normal and even desired for these pieces. The galze in decoration are in excellent order. The company'Zeh. Scherzer& Co. was founded in 1880 and directly started to produce a wide range of pieces including coffee and tea sets, normal household items and tableware as well as decoration porcelain. This beautiful set features a design of pink roses. Gold trellis, and trailing foliage. Fully marked on the bottom. The creamer measures 2 7/8" tall. The covered Sugar measures 4" with lid tall. There is wear to the gilt trim on the lid of the sugar. No chips, cracks or repairs. Lovely set. Sells as is without reserve.

Up for auction is an Antique Moriage designed Blue Covered Hinode Sugar& Creamer trimmed with gold. The inside of the creamer has an o range lustre ware. The orange lustre is around the top of the sugar bowl. The inside of the sugar bowl is a white glaze. Gold gilt covers the handles and accents around the top rims. The beautiful raised heavy moriage design makes up a village scene on the front and a Mount Fuji scene on the back. There are white moriage V birds flying on the cover of the sugar and on the back of each piece. Markings: Hinode Japan. This is beautiful decorative set for the collector. Condition: Excellent. Here is a large antique Edwards Bros. Covered Sugar Bowl& Cream Pitcher set. Made in Fenton. England. This set has two different designs. Orange on one side and blue on the other. The sugar bowl is 6.5" tall and the pottery is heavy. It is well used. There are no chips or cracks. There is all over crazing& some spots of discoloration. Very Old. Nippon RARE Buffalo Fine China Creamer, Covered Sugar Bowl & Salt Shaker, 1918
You are bidding on an(almost) Antique Buffalo China Creamer& Sugar Bowl and Salt Shaker dated 1918. Buffalo China company was importing blank porcelain from Japan at that time. And hand painting the pieces for the American market. M. V. McCloskey signed these pieces in 1921 as the artist. A research of the McCloskey name reveals a long, and old history in that area. During the early 1900’s, china painting was a favorite past time of young ladies, so M.V. could have been a woman. More research is required to find out to whom those initials belong. These pieces are rare and pre-date the china premiums given by Larkin Soap Company much later. The floral pattern looks much like the patterns hand painted in Bavaria at that time. But World War I had put an end to German porcelain at that time. I have not been able to find other pieces of this ... morepattern. But an online appraiser believes this was part of a dessert set offered by Buffalo China. Only the salt shaker has a flaw- a tiny hairline crack on side. VINTAGE COVERED SUGAR BOWL AND CREAMER PINK ROSES MADE IN GERMANY Here is a GREAT Estate sale finds. This is a lovely vintage Made in Germany porcelain china Creamer& Covered Sugar. Each piece is decorated with beautiful pale pink roses. And a center decoration of a bouquet of pink, rose, purple, blue and gold flowers with a backing of greenery. Creamer measures 3 ½" tall x 3 ¼" diameters x 4 ¼" long from front spout to back of 2 ½" high handle. Covered Sugar Dish measures 4" tall with lid on. And 3" tall without lid. It is 5 ¼" wide from edge of one handle to the other and 3¾" diameters. Each has a shiny Luster Ware finish. And is marked German 7 and Germany 10 respectively. Bavaria, Germany. The backstamp means that it was made between 1920 and 1945. A little about German Porcelain Most pieces of German porcelain possess a manufacturer’s mark. Which can be located on the underside of the dish. This mark is usually unique to the town in Germany and specific porcelain factory where the piece was first fired and painted. Many of these factories ceased production during the tumultuous years spanning World Wars I and II and were often destroyed during that time which is why these pieces are such a special find! The Mitterteich Company existed from 1917 to 2006. During 1867 Ludwig Lindner founded the first porcelain factory in the town of Mitterteich. Offered is this made in England. 1920's John Maddock& Sons Ltd, covered sugar bowl and creamer set. This set was purchased at a local estate sale, so I do not know it's history, but my research shows that the Maddock logo used on this set was introduced in 1927 and the logo was changed in the early 30's. That's as close as I can come to dating this set. There are no cracks, chips or repairs that I can see and the gold trim is intact. Please examine my photos carefully as I have shown all four sides of both pieces. This set would make a very nice addition to your china collection. I have for you this evening a beautiful example of porcelain that was fired at the kilns of Noritake in Japan during the early Nippon era around the 1890's. This set is made of very fine grade porcelain and has been cast into a lovely mold design and I belive it to be quite rare. The gorgeous gold gilt decoration has been hand painted and beautifully rendered. The blush glaze is early and is iconic for this maker.
