Antique Hinged Perfume Bottle, Sterling Silver and Cut Glass; by Mappin & Webb
This gorgeous Victorian perfume bottle was made by the London silversmiths Mappin and Webb. Most likely in the late 1800's. The top is.925 sterling silver, and the bottle is cut class. It is in very good condition, with just a small amount of wear on the bottom of the glass and some chips on one side of the stopper grip. The metal and hinge are excellent. 3-1/4" tall x 2" diameter I tried to magnify the hallmarks inside the lid and on the outside of the cover. One shows what appears to be the sillouette of the Queen. London, 1909 This beautiful perfume bottle is a fine example of the cameo glass produced by Thomas Webb and Sons in England in the 19th and 20th century. The rounded red body is decorated with finely carved clusters of apple blossoms on branches with leaves. The deep red appears to glow from the inside and provides a beautiful contrast to the opaque white floral decoration. The simple round lid is sterling silver and monogrammed in script with the letters"TMF" ... moreThe lid tapers down to a rounded silver band that fits over the threaded silver mount around the neck of the bottle. The stopper is no longer present. However, the lid works perfectly and the bottle closes securely. Thomas Webb began manufacturing art glass in England in 1837. The firm exhibited their cameo glass at the Paris Exhibition with Tiffany's in 1899 and took the Grand Prize. This exquisite bottle would make a wonderful addition to either a collection of fine art glass or to a collection of perfume bottles. Marked: Hallmarked on the silver band for London. 1909, with the makers' mark for Finnigan's who began production in Manchester in 1875 but opened offices in London in 1903. We are offering a pair of“HAWKES” ETCHED CRYSTAL BOTTLES with SILVER on CRYSTAL STOPPERS with AMETHYST ENAMEL TOPS. The hallmark is on the bottom of the bottles with the word HAWKES under it. Condition of both bottles is perfect. No chips, or cracks. The beautifully etching on the bottles is an oval with a fan like basket of flowers with a large bow on top of the baskets handle. There are three of these ovals on each bottle. See Photo) Between the ovals are striped columns with cascading flowers& leaves between them. This is an old. Antique or vintage, I don’t know the age, perfume bottle. It is 4 ¾ inches high from bottle to stopper top, the bottle is 2 ¾ inches high and 3 ½ inches across the bottom; the stopper above the bottle is 2 ¼ inches high and 3 inches across– with the ground glass stopper it’s 3 inches high. The stopper has a pressed glass star burst pattern on the front and is smooth on the back. Up for auction is an antique green glass perfume bottle with sterling silver overlay designs. There is no monogram. The stopper is approx. 1.5 inches long. The bottle stands approx. 2.5 inches without the stopper and 3.5 inches with it. On the back of the neck below the rim it is stamped Sterling. I can not find any other marks. There is one very tiny either flaw or chip on the bottom, I really can't tell if it is a flaw in the glass or tiny chip as it is very hard to notice. It is about the size of tiny grain of pepper. Antique Alvin Sterling Overlay Crystal Pefume Bottle Iris
A drop dead gorgous perfume bottle Swirls of fine sterling connecting line patterns with iris. Near the base on one of those lines is: 1000 Fine(Alvin Hallmark) 3111. The stopper has a number scratched onto it. That looks like 671. It is about 3 1/2" tall. Without stopper about 2 1/2" It has a monogram in old script of 3 letters. The first letter looks like M the last C. No chips. There is an 1/8th spot where a very thin sterling overlay line has come off. You would not notice this, as the sterling line is complete,it is just a side of the line.

The stopper looks to be plastic, and I can't easily get it open so I am not going to try and force it, will leave that up to the new owner. Rare clear and cut crystal bottle with clear and frosted stoppers is 5-5/8 inches tall. The bottle is 2-3/4 inch long. 2 inches wide. Both the stopper and the neck of the bottle are frosted, for a good seal. The bottle has a stepped design for both the front and back, the stopper is clear and Circle design.
