Both have a hand painted blue ... moregrape pattern with green fern leaves all around the body. This Lustreware pottery has a copper metallic glaze that gives an iridescent effect. The body is a coarse red earthenware. Both pieces in what I would term excellent condition. The paint shows some wear, but is still lovely. The sugar bowl has a couple of small marks on the rim that actually look like mold or kiln marks - they almost look like shallow chips, but they are glazed over... Otherwise, no chips or any other damage. Very striking set. Sugar bowl is about 5" tall including knob. 5 1/2" wide. Pitcher is about 4 1/2" tall including handle, about 6 1/2" wide.

The jug itself has a molded design in the body. The lustre extends to the inside of the jug and shows some pink lustre underneath. This would be a lovely addition to any collection. It is marked on the bottom. ALLERTONS LONGTON ENGLAND” The condition is very good. The copper lustre is bright and so is the enameling. There are several flakes to the paint on the rose(please see photos) But no other chips or cracks. It is nice and clean inside, and ready to be used or placed on display.
