At 19 Curity Ave in Toronto. They also had a US presence at 6103 Longfellow Avenue in Cleveland. Ohio. You can Google search the latter. And“stand” in front of the massive brick factory. It is now long abandoned, and its countless widows broken. But it wasn’t that long ago that this factory– like countless such factories across America– was teeming with life. And supporting millions of families. This, back when America actually made stuff. I mean. Wow. The chandelier is rich with detail. And– drum roll please– retains all its original parts! The finial is dazzling! The bottom of the chandelier is stunning. Don’t miss the double dog heads where the arms meet the large ring. Cool. There are five incredible chains with leaf-styled disks. I love it! Above the chains is a dramatic double dog flourish! Note also the original. Distinctive chain… and ceiling canopy! The chandelier is from Virden’s Beacon Line. The main color is also original. A sort of graphite. There are selected components in a burnished gold. The chandelier is not actually restored yet. From about 1905 to 1935. This particular set has unusually beautiful glass shades, and of a style that I’ve never before offered. The glass is quite thin, and has delicate designs cut(not frosted) into the glass. The effect is obvious in person and really striking. The shades are banded by pale gold/nutmeg frosting. Nice. I also like the lovely scalloped bottom edges. Like most stamped brass Pan fixtures of the era. This chandelier was painted originally. I have renewed the original nutmeg color. The sconces are now bare brass(how I found them) I can paint them to match the chandelier or ship them As Is. When I purchased the fixture it was bereft of glass save the stunning glass spear in the center. I had no idea of exactly what was missing. So patiently waited, for years, until I found the Holy Grail: an original catalog image. Imagine my excitement when this was discovered, and the missing visual information revealed. I have never previously offered chandeliers quite like them: The original candle covers are metal. And have a textured faux finish including drips. I also like how they taper. Very cool. The covers are“held” in place by aluminum. Um, arms. There are also aluminum flourishes at the top and bottom of the chandeliers. There are six arms. Nice, and each holds six amethyst glass drops. These appear to be original. There is an additional drop in the center(these seem to be replacements) The pipe stems are covered in cloth cord. I also love how the arms sweep down and up. The chandeliers are an impressive 21-inches wide. They are 33-1/2-inches long(to the bottom of the cloth tassel) And 26-3/4-inches minus the tassel. If you used the set in, say, your bathroom, the 2-bulb would be for the ceiling, the 1-bulb over the bathroom mirror, and the sconces on each side of the mirror. The 1-bulb can be used either as a wall sconce. Or ceiling-mounted fixture(see images) On the 2- and 1-bulb. It’s always a particular pleasure restoring a Lightolier! The fixtures are typically Lightolier in being rather ingenious. The shades have little leg-like extensions on top. Creating a space between the shade proper and the chrome fitter above. The finial has pierced openings. The reason for all this? You can use 100W bulbs without the fixtures overheating. The heat from the bulbs will create an air current. This will draw cool air up through the openings in the finial. And out through the openings between the shade legs. Clever? I think so! The shades are also striking. The edges have very thin raised lines. And the bottoms have a highly textured, dimpled surface. Nice. The smaller fixture is especially adorable.
