While the vase might not be absolutely perfect, it is about as close to perfect as you will ordinarily find of an authentic porcelain jar like this, and there are no repairs. Of course realistically one would expect some blemishes over a century after it was originally produced, so there are no surprises here except that there are so few blemishes. There are as well a few production blemishes(warts. Dimples, zits and pits) Again really not noticeable, and quite typical of hand-crafted porcelain of the late Ming/early Qing Dynasties. Antique Henry Tetlow Sweet Sixteen Blue/White Stripe Mini Upright Perfume Bottle
Purchased in a lot from a high-end estate auction I don't know much about this. I believe it to be rare as this exact bottle hasn't been sold online(I've checked archived listings going back 15 years) Only 3 or 4 Tetlow bottles have been sold on Ebay in the last 5 years and none look remotely like this one. There are other lay down striped perfume bottles that look extremely similar. However this one has a base to set it upright and an intact Tetlow label. This looks like a lay down bottle, but it's upright. It measures 3 inches tall. The dropper on the interior is intact. Brass screw on top is stuck and I have not attempted to use much force to try to open it for fear of damage. According to the Perfume Intelligence website(the proclaimed encyclopedia of perfume) this scent was introduced in 1885. Elsewhere I read it was ... more1916 however I believe that is when the patent for the name'Sweet Sixteen' was filed in which he claimed use since 1884. Condition: Excellent. Label completely intact. Glass dropper intact. There are remnants of the perfume on the interior which give it a brownish hue. I have not attempted to clean it in any way. The cap is stuck on and I have not attempted a lot of force to try and remove it for fear of damaging it. Shipped FREE via USPS with appropriate care. Thank YOU! Antique WHITE GLASS CUT BACK TO COBALT BLUE Perfume Scent Bottle HAND PAINTED
Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a unique Perfume Scent Bottle. It has cobalt blue glass on the interior with clear glass around that and then white glass on the exterior. The white glass has then been cut back to reveal the blue glass interior. Such a pretty glass effect and you can see it best from the bottom or when you hold it up to light. I have seen this done with items made in France and Czechoslovakia. This little bottle appears to be c. late 1800’s to early 1900’s. The screw on lid is silver tone metal but it is not sterling. The threading has been dented a little over the years so the lid screws on but is a loose fit. There is still a lot of the gold painted detail left but it is thinning in a few areas. I think there may have been some colored. Floral paintings on the ... morewhite glass that have worn down with age. You can just barely make out the faded outlines. No chips. Cracks or repairs but I do see a couple microscopic nibbles to the bottom edge. They are super tiny but you might be able to see them in the photos of the bottom as they are not seen when the bottle standing up for display. It looks like the letter"C" painted on the bottom but I don't know the significance of this. Maybe it's just the owners initial( The bottle with lid in place is 3 7/8 inches tall and 1 ½ inches across at the widest part which is the shoulder area just below the cap. I don't believe it was called the Czech republic when this was made. It was just Czechoslovakia. This is a glass par fume that women could take in there purse and have their par fume with them anywhere they went. The size is 2 3/4" long. I also believe that the type of glass that it is. Is called"flash" glass. It has a bright color coat over white glass, so when you dig into the colored glass you reveal the white. Very nice piece.

C1850 French Opaline Baccarat Perfume, white & blue, enameled, 8", ground pontil
Description: this is a rare and fine example of a perfume flask fabricated in white opaline glass with a contrasting cerulean torus at the waist and a pointed. Flared stopper. The body of the flask is bell-shaped with a wide pillow rim above the foot; it is encircled in a lively band of Florentine scrolls in yellow, interspersed with small multicolored flowers. This ornate hand-enameled decoration is further enriched with gold. The neck of the flask widens into a crenellated edge finished in gold. There are six simple gold-painted bands around the body and waist. The blue stopper is almost pagoda-like; on a long stem which protrudes from the neck of the flask, it umbrellas the rim and ends in nine points, again divided and finished in gold. Its upper surface is textured as satin glass. Size: 8" high. Including original stopper, with ... morea full diameter of 4" approx. Condition: very good. There are no breaks and no significant chips that I can find. The stopper has a tiny nick on the underside which I have tried to show in the photos by positioning that point against the book. On the upper surface there is a shaving which shows as a shiny spot; other spots appear to be rubbed. Or may not have etched well at the factory. I think it most likely that the apex tip was ground. The base of the body is very smooth, showing the grind marks of leveling the pontil. There are no identifying marks and no signature. The enameled frieze is in good shape but there does exist some small loss to the gold bands. It is particularly difficult to tell if there is much scratching because of the inherent tiny bubbles in the opaline glass. I have found no nicks to the rim and consider it to be very sharp and well-cut. I have owned this piece for many years and have never seen another alike. Though recently I did come across a similar example, all in blue. Should you wish to take a look at it, it is offered online and should be easy to search. If not, by all means e-mail me for details.
