Very Old Primitive Fireplace Bellows Antique Vintage Wood Leather Marked 26"long
Antique handmade fireplace bellows very old and primitive. It is unusually very long(26" and 6" wide. It is in great condition and still working fine! One side of the wooden body is marked with round stamp in black paint" Trade Mark ACME Registered" see photos) The other side has small old paper with text(see photos) Wooden body has original red paint. Unusually long wooden handles(13" long) are attached to the body with two old screws on each side. The leather bag for air is intact. It is attached to the wooden body with original vintage nails and amazingly it is not torn despite the age. The leather strips that covers the seams where the leather is attached to the wood is partially disintegrated but it doesn't interfere with function because it has cosmetic purpose only. The wide leather strip at the front of ... morethe bellows is intact but has 4 nails being replaced(see photos) This is the only sign of repair that we found. On the side of the leather bag is a small hole about 1/16" dia. which we aren't sure is it an"air entrance" hole or not. The metal hand made nozzle in the front of the bellows has an elbow for easy directing outgoing air and could be unscrewed from the unit. 2 ANTIQUE hand made fireplace bellows. 1. An antique fireplace bellows marked on the front' SIN- EXTRA CALFSKIN' I'm guessing it was manufactured around the turn of the century. It measures approximately 27" in overall length and it's 8" wide across the widest point near the center of the bellows, The leather is very dry and has deteriorated to the point that it will need to be replaced if you plan to use it as originally intended. The leather hanger fell off when I repositioned it for photos but it can probably be reattached if you'd like it for display. In its current condition this bellows is NOT for use but for display purposes only. 2. An antique fireplace bellows of wood. Brown leather and brass look tacks. The nozzle is a carved wood dog's head with tacks for eyes, an opening in the nozzle looks as ... moreif the dogs mouth is open. One side of the bellows features an etched Alpaca carrying a large pack on its back. On the opposite side is a carved wood man's head with long hair and a hat- he looks Colonial. The wood carving is separate from the body of the bellows. I see no nails or pegs and it's beginning to come loose. The bellows is unusually thick measuring approximately 3 1/4" when closed. It measures approximately 17 1/4" in length X 8 1/4" wide at the widest part near the center. The wood has lots of nicks and scratches and there are a few tacks missing but overall this bellows appears to be in nice condition. It still works but the air flow is weak, it must be leaking somewhere but I could find no holes in the leather.

I don't really know how old it is but would guess its age as dating from the early 1800's to the mid 1800's. you can get some idea as to how old it is by looking at the grooves woern in back from swinging where it was hung by a fireplace. Its overall lenght is about 22 1/2 inches-the widest part is about 8 inches. The leather is basically gone although all the riverts holding it in place are still there-the wood parts are in pretty good condition although there is a crack on the back side from near the handle to the center air intake hole. the metal blower end has surface rust but is still in pretty good shape. JUST REDUCED! AS WE DESCRIBED IN THE"CONDITION DESCRIPTION. at the present, there is a small block of wood which came loose inside the bellows and therefore it does not work properly. It should be an easy fix for anyone who knows anything about how a bellows works. This listing is for an 1842 antique bellows which was purchased at a little antique shop in the quaint little town of Princeton. New Jersey, right around the corner from the beautiful Princeton University grounds in 1970! It didn't even work at that time and there was damage to the leather and the insides of it. We were able to find a"little ole shoemaker" who also restored and fixed leather antique items and talked him into working on this beautiful bellows. He was a true and proud craftsman(in otherwords, a perfectionist) and we agreed to let him take his time ... moreand do it right. In about six month's time, he handed us back what we considered to be this beautiful masterpiece, all originally restored. He had taken the whole thing apart and showed us the bent green branch which was inside keeping the shape of the bellows. He cleaned up the leather, being careful not to damage the handpainted designs on the bellows, and tacked the original brass tacks back into place. He did an awesome job keeping it genuine and original to its era. Even though it is not in 100% working order at the present, we feel it is still considered to be in very good used condition considering it's age of more than 170 years of use. As you can see on the back part of the handle, there is a piece broken off and that is where it must have come off from hanging up years ago before we purchased it.Please see all the pictures closely)It measures 18 inches long and is 7 1/2 inches wide across the center of the bellows itself. Now, it's being offered here at a VERY reasonable starting price with no reserve. In researching on Ebay, I saw another one just like it for much more money but not in very good shape. Very nice. OLD, EARLY 19th CENTURY, Arts and Crafts era, fireplace tool set. This beautiful set is gilded and hammered iron. It includes the brush, poker, tongs, shovel and it also includes the bellows(fan) This gorgeous set features a nicely hammered pattern on the tools. The very ornate, footed base is a combination of hammered iron with a raised arch pattern. The bellows are wood with leather. This set is in very good, ANTIQUE condition. There is wear to the gild in areas. The leather on the bellows has worn and has more of a suede feel and appearance. The tools and stand are extremely sturdy and are heavy. REDUCED! FIREPLACE BELLOWS: 1842 ORNATE TURTLE BACK ORIG RED W/FLORAL PAINTING
AS WE DESCRIBED IN THE"CONDITION DESCRIPTION. at the present, there is a small block of wood which came loose inside the bellows and therefore it does not work properly. It should be an easy fix for anyone who knows anything about how a bellows works. This listing is for an 1842 antique bellows which was purchased at a little antique shop in the quaint little town of Princeton. New Jersey, right around the corner from the beautiful Princeton University grounds in 1970! It didn't even work at that time and there was damage to the leather and the insides of it. We were able to find a"little ole shoemaker" who also restored and fixed leather antique items and talked him into working on this beautiful bellows. He was a true and proud craftsman(in otherwords, a perfectionist) and we agreed to let him take his time and do it ... moreright. In about six month's time, he handed us back what we considered to be this beautiful masterpiece, all originally restored. He had taken the whole thing apart and showed us the bent green branch which was inside keeping the shape of the bellows. He cleaned up the leather, being careful not to damage the handpainted designs on the bellows, and tacked the original brass tacks back into place. He did an awesome job keeping it genuine and original to its era. Even though it is not in 100% working order at the present, we feel it is still considered to be in very good used condition considering it's age of more than 170 years of use. As you can see on the back part of the handle, there is a piece broken off and that is where it must have come off from hanging up years ago before we purchased it.Please see all the pictures closely)It measures 18 inches long and is 7 1/2 inches wide across the center of the bellows itself. Now, it's being offered here at a VERY reasonable starting price with no reserve. In researching on Ebay, I saw another one just like it for much more money but not in very good shape. Well here is a very interesting item that probably not many of you even knew existed; I know I didn't until I found them 18 years ago and displayed them on my own fireplace. Up for auction is this unique and very well built mechanical English Fire Place Bellows. It is artistically designed and sturdily built of solid mahogany and solid cast brass components. The large handled flywheel operates by pulley the bladed fan withing the brass housing. I have disassembled everything and freshly lubricated all parts. It works really well. There is a brass hanger at the top end which is mounted by 4 countersunk flat head screws. It looks great hanging on the fireplace mantle or any other way you would like. It maintains its original patina which is how it should be. It definitely is a most charming and interesting well built item of typical English ... morecraftsmanship. A real conversation piece as well. I have enjoyed owning it for so many years and now I have reached the age of having to part with so many treasures. The front side has leather that has a design on it. It shows ships, bridges, compass' castles, etc. There are words also, but not from the english language. The bellows do work. This is a fairly primitive set.I would date to the early 1900's, possibly earlier, but I can't be sure. These are sold as is.there are some small tears or scratches to the leather and the handle end of the bellows appears to originally have had a leather cord on it but part of it is missing. No breaks to the ... moresides of the bellows that I can see. Also the tip on the bellows appears to be missing some leather also.but not sure how much should be there. An tique Blacksmiths Foot Bellows Elm& Leather. This is a superb set of bellows dating from around 1900. Maybe earlier. Made from solid english elm& thick leather. I presume these are blacksmiths bellows and would be linked to furnace via the metal tube at the front. Beautiful age patination to the elm and the leather. A really interesting and great looking piece. This would be excellent in a open fireplace. The bellows work fine, you could attach a leng th of tubing and actually use them. The leather is dry and ther is a small hole(pic 3 in the middle) still puff air well. Size 18" x 10.5" high x 1 0" deep. Great talking point. W ill feed leather during listing. Here is a wonderful pair of Carved Wooden Fireplace Bellows Featuring the face of Santa Claus. These are old but I really don't know the age or anything about them. I acquired the bellows from a lady that purchases abandoned storage lockers. The Bellows are in bad condition and will need to be replaced if you plan to use them. They are missing the pointed metal piece at the end and also some tacks. The back of the bellows are carved with three flowers that make me think these are European but I could be wrong. Please see the pictures and zoom in for detail. These are large and measure approx. 21" long and have a 23" circumference.
