Antique MINIATURE CAST BRASS FIREPLACE FENDER. C. 1800-1825- Doll House This is an antique miniature cast brass fireplace fender that is small enough to be for an early doll house. Circa 1800 to 1825, or so, and most likely English in origin, as this was a more common English fireplace accessory than American. Fender is 4 7/8" wide, 1 1/2" deep, and 3/4" high, and it weighs just over 3 ounces. It has a decorative cutout top, as pictured. These were set into early fireplaces and used to support pots and kettle over the coals for cooking, etc. This has not been polished in quite a while, and it is in excellent, original condition with no damage and no repair. Large antique doll houses are rare, but if you have one, than this is perfect. This is part of an old New England antiques collection formed over decades. I was told these pieces were part of a Victorian fireplace fender. The large piece measures 38" x 5 1/4" x 3/4" and weighs 10 pounds. It is made of solid cast brass in a beautiful Gothic design. It has several tapped holes at the bottom. Possibly for attaching the feet. It has some minor scratches and tarnish. The second piece is 47" x 1 1/2" x 1/8" and is solid brass. We are offering a brass fireplace fender that we found at an estate sale. It measures approximately 42” w x 7 ½” h x 14” d. We are selling in‘as found condition’ I wiped it off but it has not been polished. It definitely has a patina and a lot of spots where the shine is gone. The only issue to note is that on one side. The bottom sits off the ground a little bit so it’s not completely level. The distance off the ground at the back corner is ½” so it’s not off by a lot. We purchased these from a Metals Plating Company who had restored the feet to their current brilliance by polishing. As well as applying a lacquer coating for protection for years to come. The feet are large(that's a U. S. copper penny in our first photo) At about 2-5/8" across, 2-1/4" front-to-back at the base, 3-1/2" front-to-back at the top, and 1-1/2" tall. The mounting surface(you can see the old marks where they attached to the fender) is about 1-1/2" x 1-1/8" with the two mounting holes about 5/16" diameter. Each weighs about 6 ounces. Up for auction is a very early trivet that hooks over a fireplace fender. Usually used in the"parlor" fireplace to heat water for tea. This hand made piece is about 12 1/2" long(iron frame) x 8" wide(brass sliding plate) x 5 1/2" tall at legs. The trivet's bent legs hook over fender(low metal guard on hearth of fireplace) The brass plate slides in or out to adjust heat exposure. It extends to 15 1/2" long. This is an antique brass Art Deco fireplace fender. It is 49 1/2 inches long. It is 8 1/2 inches high. It is 14 1/2 inches wide. It is real brass. Not plated. I could not find any markings on it, but I am not sure where I would located them, since this is my first fender. The main problem is the left side corner piece is lose, it screws in, and I can't get it to tighten. It does show wear. No cracks or repairs. Does have some minor dents and green. Fireplace Fender - Antique 1800's Brass and Plate Victorian Ball & Stick
TIME TO MOVE THIS VERY NICE ITEM- NEW LOWER PRICE! A very nice-looking fireplace fender from my family home. Built in 1895. I would guess the fender itself was"original equipment" in the house, especially comparing it with the other fenders that came from same house. But it could be 1890's- 1910's, I am guessing. Only minimally polished in order to clean up. The spindles or uprights are solid brass and are not magnetic. The top two tubular cross pieces are brass plate. The base is not magnetic or is only very slightly. Maybe due to the iron brackets and screws underneath. This piece has a lovely scale to it and only has minimal dings and bumps- no serious dents and no cracks or bad stains. The posts are in great condition and just look super after a minimum of buffing. Details: 39 inches long by 9.5 inches deep by 7 inches ... morehigh. Weight: Nine pounds. This is an exquisite lot of antique Victorian gold gilded bronze fireplace andirons and fender set from late 19th century, the andirons are made from solid bronze with a gold gilt finish. They have an abundance of detailing and an exquisite patina from age. each is beautifully claw footed with an ornate cut out detailed shaft and topped with a flame finial. they rest on cast iron wood rests in the back. each measures 19 1/4 inches tall by 9 1/4 inches wide by about 17 inches back to front. they are both in great shape. the lot also comes with a beautiful brass fireplace fender which also has wonderful detailing. has a wonderful patina from age and in good shape as well. it measures 42 inches long by 9 1/4 inches back to front by 5 inches tall. exquisite victorian lot. You can see the quality of this set and what an incredible purchase this would be for your home or fire place collection. This 19th Century Brass fireplace fender with ceramic tiles came from an estate in Bolivar. TN. The house was built in the 1820's. This is a rare and unusual item. Fireplace fenders do not usually have ceramic tile! This fender has 5 brass finials along the top. And features a row of 4 blue patterned ceramic tiles, size 8" by 4" across the front, and then one tile down each side. The size is 37inches wide, and 14 inches deep. All front tiles are in perfect condition. It weighs approximately 24 pounds. NOTE: Please see pictures for slight damage on the side tiles. On both sides. When looking from the front, the left side tile has missing piece of ceramic, in triangular shaped section. Missing piece is approximately 2& 1/2 inches by 2 inches by 1& 1/4 inches. c.1790 colonial Brass & Forged Iron fireplace FENDER TRIVET w/Greek Lyre deco
This colonial era(c.1790-1820) fireplace trivet is the type that would hook up against the front of a fireplace fender for placing hot pots or kettles when removing from the hot embers. Measuring 7" wide x 11" long. This example shows an ancient Greek lyre(harp like stringed instrument) as the central motif and has a cast brass top that is crudely riveted to a forged base and includes an attractive turned wood handle. Condition: there is one contemporary repair to brass top(see close-up) some nicks to wooden handle; overall normal wear patterns for a two century old piece and displays nicely. This is a small weighted brass Antique fireplace screen fender that has a wonderful floral wreath at the center and beading above the base top. It has a British Registry number on the front right side. That at least partially is Rd No. 6. The back of the bottom is weighted with a heavy steel plate. Don't let this get away! SIZE: About 17-3/4" wide by about 11" high by about 4-1/4" deep. The rolled top is about 3/4" deep. CONDITION: It has old polish residue and haziness. Needs a strong buffing. We are leaving it for the purchaser to do as seen fit. Soft dents but they don't take away for the warmth of this piece. MARKS: It has a British Registry number on the right side.
