The bottom hinge on the lower right side door is broken but still opens and closes. Does have 4 cast iron feet as well, one foot is mismatched. Antique or vintage cast iron with enamel front plate Radio stove door Harwick ??
Up for bid is an antique or vintage cast iron with a white enamel plated front plate stove door. It is marked Radio. In my research. The only Radio stove I could find was made bt Harwick. It looks like the door was chrome plated. Most of the chrome plating is gone, just a little left on some of the edges. The latch is broke/missing. There are spots, stains and a chip in the enamel finish on the front plate. I pack my postcards between 2 pieces of cardboard. Then in an envelope with a tracking number, which results in a higher price than just sticking it in an envelope. This item/items as most of the things I sell. Came from an auction, flea market, estate sale or rummage sale. 1860S-1880S ANTIQUE VICTORIAN ART NOUVEAU RAISED-SC ULPTURAL-SHELL RELIEF CAST IRON COAL OR WOOD STOVE DOOR. Lovely authentic Victorian-period cast iron coal or wood stove door with raised sculptural relief of a central'splayed fan' design inside a rectangu la r panel with 4 corner shell& acanthus leaf designs also in raised relief(see pic close-ups provided) The panel has a n outer border of the repeated shell/leaf design in a broader scope at each of the 4 corners(see pics) The piece has open shapes in geometric formed serving as vents. This is so cool! If you like"rusty gold" this piece is for you. It's an old door off an antique cast iron stove. What a great decor item inside or out if you're into steampunk or just good'ole salvage from yesteryear. The detail in the iron work is phenomenal I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. I did not try to clean it up in any manner other than to wipe it off with a damp rag to remove the surface dust and dirt. Many will appreciate it as is. Some will want to see if they can remove some of the rust and get it a little cleaner. Please note there are also lighter and darker spots throughout and I'm not sure if these color variations can be remedied with a good cleaning or not. I call that character. The door measures about 6" x 7" and is about 1 1/4" deep from the tip of the door knob ... moreto the edge of the door.
