Vintage Antique Copper/Bronze Ship's Bell - Wall Mount With Bracket - Nice Bell
I got this nice Ship's Bell from a recent estate. It is 8" diameter at the bottom and approximately 5" overall height. All pieces including clapper and bracket are non-magnetic copper/bronze. This bell is'as received and has quite a bit of patina. Along with a couple spots of light green paint. I couldn't see any markings on it, but there may be something under all the patina, I just didn't want to disturb the finish looking for something that may not be there. Heavy Vintage Brass Ship Bell came off the 1963 MS Rondeggen- Good Condition- Nice Sound-This is the real deal Heavy Beautiful Solid Brass. Dimensions: 8 1/2 Inches tall- 8 1/2 Width- The Merchant Ship Rondeggen was built in 1963 by Kaldnesmek Verksted. MS Rondeggen and her sister ship the MS Besseggen hail from the homeport of Oslo Norway. The Rondeggen was specially designed and constructed for the carriage of newsprint and lumber in bulk. The vessel was of the single-deck type with machinery and accommodation aft. The ship machinery included three Munck rolling gantry cranes. Travelling fore and aft on rails mounted on the deck. The cranes are equipped with hydraulically operated hinged extension arms, which give a long reach over the ship's sides when loading or discharging.The lifting part of the crane comprises a hoist operating ... morefrom a trolley running on rails along the main girders and hinged extension pieces of the gantry. The three cranes give a total working capacity of more than 1,000 tons per hour. By means of a special yoke eight reels of newsprint can be handled simultaneously by each crane in one operation. To handle 9,000 tons of newsprint loading or discharging would normally take three days and employ 60 men, but with these cranes it is expected that 10 men will be able to accomplish the task in 10 hours. The ship was retired and salvaged in 1988.

This bell is a very nice bell the lady I got it from told me her father had worked on the tugboat that it came off of. She said it came from the St Lois area. I can not verify this. But have found that there was a tugboat ship named Helena that was built in 1938. Anyway this is a very large bell solid brass has a beautiful ring to it. The base has a diameter of 18" and it stand over 20" high on the brass stand. I have not even wiped it off because the patina is so nice. email if you have questions.

Rare Original Vintage 1920s S.S. PATRIA Nautical Ship Bell w/ Mount Cast Brass
Rare Original Vintage 1920s S.S. PATRIA Nautical Ship Bell w/ Mount Cast Brass Up for sale is a Vintage Cast Brass Ship Bell from the S.S. PATRIA. My research indicates that this bell is from a ship that was bombed and sunk in 1940 by a paramilitary group in the port of Haifa while carrying 1.800 Jewish refugees. This was an estate sale purchase so I have no documentation to support its origin. The prior owner was a Navy Seal and his wife was an antique dealer but I don't know how they acquired it. It looks nearly identical to one I found online that was from a documented collection from the S.S. PATRIA. The only difference is that this one has different bracket for 4 mounting screws versus 3 on the other one and the bottom edge of this bell has ridges versus a plain edge on the other one. They did not give a size but I'm guessing ... morethat this one is a little taller given a comparison to the photo postcard shown in the photo with it and the fact that it required one less screw in the bracket to support it. Markings: The front says"S.S. PATRIA" Measurements: The bell measures about 6 1/2" in diameter and about 7 1/4" tall. The bell complete with the wood board weighs a little over 6 lbs. Condition: Overall it is in excellent all original condition except I don't' know what the deal is with the white paint inside the bell and on the clapper. It even has a cool old rope attached to the clapper.the rope appears original but I cannot know for sure. The wood board was simply a means to display the bell and is not original to it. For sale is a fabulous Vanduzen& Tift bell. The bell measures 14" tall and is about 9" in diameter. Vanduzen& Tift used this name on their bells from 1865 to 1894 so this is an old bell. I'm not sure if this was used on a ship or maybe for a school bell. It definitely was used though because there is some paint loss from where it was hit over and over. This is a pretty nice vintage ships bell from a boat yard sale that's being sold as is. It measures 8" wide at the opening x 5" high. And has a nice strong ringing sound to it. It would look nice on an old boat again, or as patio yard art. It has a 2 foot chain attached to the clanger. It has a time-aged tarnished finish from exposure to the salt sea air& weather. Not sure of it's age, or what metal or alloy it's made from, but a magnet doesn't stick to anything except the chain. It might've been chrome over brass/bronze, but that's only a guess. I do not know if this item actually works. When plugged in. The bell emits a quiet humming, but I do not know how to get it to ring. It was salvaged from a ship in the late 80s- early 90s. Antique Ships Bell. US on the front of the bell. The bell appears to be brass and has all the original patina. The base of the bell is 10" across, this weighs 22 pounds. I took the knocker off, the nut that was holding it was rusted so you will need to get a nut to attach it.
