These were typically used on Tugboats or other smaller commercial type of vessels that made numerous trips through Puget Sound and the Ocean. The previous owner was knowledgeable and told me that it should still work fine, and that it is very loud. Please note that I have not actually tested it though. This piece looks to have been painted a few times throughout its life. Imagine the stories it could probably tell! This auction is for an antique brass ship's bell in excellent condition. This bell is about 5" tall and 8" in diameter with an 8" lanyard with a turk's head. It weighs 2 lbs 7 oz. The bell is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips, or repairs. It has a beautiful patina and sounds great. This bell is not marked but I acquired it along with a small collection of U.S. Navy items and the owner told me it belonged to his grandfather and came off a World War One ship. Up for grabs is a old brass. Or bronze, Tugboat Ship Air Horn. I found it digging in a guys basement at an estate sale. Their basement was full of other old boating and shipping pieces. Living in the Seattle Puget Sound area you tend to come across this kind of stuff time and time again. These were typically used on Tugboats or other smaller commercial type of vessels that made numerous trips through Puget Sound and the Ocean. The previous owner was knowledgeable and told me that it should still work fine, and that it is very loud. Please note that I have not actually tested it though. Handsome Antique Vtg Heavy Brass or Bronze Bell ~ Ship Train School ?
I was told this is an antique ship's bell. But it has no name on it, so please use your own expert judgment. I can tell you that it is beautiful, it has a nice look to it, it certainly looks like an antique casting, and it is substantial& heavy. It is 8" dia. at the bottom, and approx. 8.25" tall. I think the mounting piece was added later, but it too is nice& heavy-duty, and looks good with it(even though it is chrome on iron) The wood piece was how it was mounted to the wall in the estate I bought it from. The whole thing weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. so the bell alone is probably around 10 lbs. No clapper inside, you'll have to add something. STROMBOS Ship Horn, Antique Brass ship horn working condition, No Reserve
This is a super loud ear ringing ships horn. The horn is complete and has not been cleaned. The horn works when hooked up to a air supply and it is loud. Nice well made horn with some weight to it. The horn and base are both made of brass, the base is maker marked Strombos made by the American Strombos Company Philadelphia USA and it is dated 1918. The horn is the rare curved type that was made for maritime use. The bell of the horn is in ghreat shapea couple of very, very small minor dings, the shaft part of the horn has a very small dent where the shaft and curved bell are seamed together. The base has no dings or dents overall the horn is in great untouched condition. The brass shows patina from not being polished over the years. This horn would clean right up and have it's original shine. The horn stands 22-1/2 inches tall from the ... morebase to the top of the bell. The base is 4-3/4 inches in dia and the bell of the horn is 6-1/4 inches in dia. Nice antique ships horn to clean up or have fun with as is. Nice working vintage brass ships horn. My 89 Year-Old God Father was in the Navy during WWII& used it on the 1st Launch Crafts used by the Navy in WWII on the Coast of New Guinea. The Bell still rings beautifully Loud& Clear& was used in Darkness&or Fog to alert Marine Soldiers he picked up or dropped into the water moving East to West along the New Guinea Coast. He took the bell as a momento& his uncle hand-carved the wood shield it was mounted on shortly after he returned from the war. i've asked him& looked. AN AMAZING ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL- BEAUTIFULLY WORN BY TIME AND THE SALTY SEA AIR This is a gorgeous ship's bell that has been sitting silently in the depths of my friend's garage. He's had enough of letting such a fine and unique item gather dust when there is a collector out there who will appreciate such a find. I do know that the S.S. Hamburg was a German ship that included both a military and non-military history from its first voyage in 1926 until it was scrapped in 1977. The S.S. Hamburg was. At one point, used during WWII by the Nazis. This bell was given to my friend by an older lady in payment for a kindness he did her some years ago. She told him she estimated it was used in the 40's(the S.S. Hamburg went through several bells. I have NO way to authenticate that statement. Antique Ships Bell. US on the front of the bell. The bell appears to be brass and has all the original patina. The base of the bell is 10" across, this weighs 22 pounds. I took the knocker off, the nut that was holding it was rusted so you will need to get a nut to attach it. I believe this is from a ship but am not 100% certain, based on other listings of the same bell and the US marked on the bell is how I came to that. Please ask if you have any questions Amazing find. This old Bell is a recent estate find. It is most unusual. It measures about 5 inches in height The top flat part is about an inch and a half cross; the valve opens up to a maximum of approximately four and three-quarter inches: there is some green discoloration on the belt. That is why we think it might be heavy copper. But it could be brass bronze. It appears to be a nautical bell. We do not have the mounting bracket. The only Farisour Manemet portion of the entire bell is the wire that goes from the clapper to the eye at the top. Is quite unusual and it's shape. Is being sold as is condition. But some quick research indicates that this is most likely made by The Siebe Gorman& Co in the mid 1800's as a FOG HORN for maritime sailors and fishermen to sound out to approaching ships that they were near, or a ships FIRE HORN to alert sailors of onboard dangers. I have included a photo that shows what the unit would like if it came complete with the the bellows. This listing is just for a brass horn. There is no longer a bellows with this item. ANTIQUE BRASS SHIP BOAT WHISTLE HAND PUMP STEAM GAS NAUTICAL
Bidding on a nice Antique brass 3-chime hand pump whistle. The whistle is in working condition. Stands approx 12" tall plus 2 1/4" with handle and the cylinder is approx. 4 3/8" in diameter. There are no cracks. Dents and the 3 mounting feet are all intact. This antique whistle is in as found condition with patina and will let the new owner polish if desired. These were only made from the late 1800's to early 1900's. There is no indication of who it was made by and very few had any maker marks or dates. They could have been used in early steam or gas launches and any vehicle that required audible sound for safety.

The origin is unknown and there are no markings on it. The Bell weighs over 3 pounds and is solid brass including the mounting arm. The ring tone is crisp and clear. And reverberates for 10-15 seconds after a strike. It has no apparent physical damage other than 70 years of normal tarnish.

Very heavy thick solid cast brass bell with a brass clapper. This thing weighs in at well over 3lbs! Measures about 7' tall and 6 1/2' in diameter. Shows some wear/imperfections from age or use but a very nice bell with a very big sound!

This is a really nice antique heavy bronze or brass bell with a heavy bronze or copper clapper. It looks like it was hand hammered. I am not sure if it was a old railroad locomotive steam engine bell or a maritime nautical bell. I do not find any marks. It is very heavy 7 pounds and measures 8" tall x 7.25" across at the bottom. It is very loud and sound as would have been the case with a train. Ship or maybe school bell.
