This auction is for an antique brass ship's bell in excellent condition. This bell is about 5" tall and 8" in diameter with an 8" lanyard with a turk's head. It weighs 2 lbs 7 oz. The bell is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips, or repairs. It has a beautiful patina and sounds great. This bell is not marked but I acquired it along with a small collection of U.S. Navy items and the owner told me it belonged to his grandfather and came off a World War One ship. Handsome Antique Vtg Heavy Brass or Bronze Bell ~ Ship Train School ?
I was told this is an antique ship's bell. But it has no name on it, so please use your own expert judgment. I can tell you that it is beautiful, it has a nice look to it, it certainly looks like an antique casting, and it is substantial& heavy. It is 8" dia. at the bottom, and approx. 8.25" tall. I think the mounting piece was added later, but it too is nice& heavy-duty, and looks good with it(even though it is chrome on iron) The wood piece was how it was mounted to the wall in the estate I bought it from. The whole thing weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. so the bell alone is probably around 10 lbs. No clapper inside, you'll have to add something. But it would look great with a collection of maritime/nautical memorabilia! I do not add any handling fees; I try to charge you what the Post Office is going to charge me. You Are Buying an WWII ANTIQUE SOLID BRASS NAVAL SHIPS BELL(unmarked) mounted on a Custom Carved Wooden Shield. My 89 Year-Old God Father was in the Navy during WWII& used it on the 1st Launch Crafts used by the Navy in WWII on the Coast of New Guinea. The Bell still rings beautifully Loud& Clear& was used in Darkness&or Fog to alert Marine Soldiers he picked up or dropped into the water moving East to West along the New Guinea Coast. He took the bell as a momento& his uncle hand-carved the wood shield it was mounted on shortly after he returned from the war. i've asked him& looked. But can't find any marks, stamps or anything that identifies who or where it was made and he doesn't know.

AN AMAZING ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL- BEAUTIFULLY WORN BY TIME AND THE SALTY SEA AIR This is a gorgeous ship's bell that has been sitting silently in the depths of my friend's garage. He's had enough of letting such a fine and unique item gather dust when there is a collector out there who will appreciate such a find. I do know that the S.S. Hamburg was a German ship that included both a military and non-military history from its first voyage in 1926 until it was scrapped in 1977. The S.S. Hamburg was. At one point, used during WWII by the Nazis. This bell was given to my friend by an older lady in payment for a kindness he did her some years ago. She told him she estimated it was used in the 40's(the S.S. Hamburg went through several bells. I have NO way to authenticate that statement. Nor can I offer evidence that this bell ... morewas really on the S.S. Hamburg. I took the knocker off, the nut that was holding it was rusted so you will need to get a nut to attach it. I believe this is from a ship but am not 100% certain, based on other listings of the same bell and the US marked on the bell is how I came to that. Please ask if you have any questions Amazing find. Could have been down there for 80-120 years! He was able to pull this beautiful bell. Amongst other items directly from it! Is the great Brass Bell was not enough. This old Bell is a recent estate find. It is most unusual. It measures about 5 inches in height The top flat part is about an inch and a half cross; the valve opens up to a maximum of approximately four and three-quarter inches: there is some green discoloration on the belt. That is why we think it might be heavy copper. But it could be brass bronze. It appears to be a nautical bell. We do not have the mounting bracket. The only Farisour Manemet portion of the entire bell is the wire that goes from the clapper to the eye at the top. Is quite unusual and it's shape. Is being sold as is condition. This is a beautiful handcast commissioned ship bell signed and daated around the middle. It reads Karen L. Lyndon 21. VIII. 93. The swinger that holds it is very ornate and has draped figures at the base holding the swinger. In the frame and base it measures 13 3/4 inches in height and 14 3/4 inches through. In its carriage. It measures 12 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. Just the bell measures 9 3/8 inches in height and 5 3/4 inches through the base. Mounted to an oak stand. A beautiful display piece.

I am not sure if it was a old railroad locomotive steam engine bell or a maritime nautical bell. I do not find any marks. It is very heavy 7 pounds and measures 8" tall x 7.25" across at the bottom. It is very loud and sound as would have been the case with a train. Ship or maybe school bell. LARGE 1900's Antique Cast iron & Brass Bell Ship Nautical farm school VERY LOUD!
Feel free to make me an OFFER This bell is BIG AND LOUD. The bell seems to be musically tuned. It's loud sound is super loud but at the same time it's a real nice tuned sound that keeps going. The bottom rim of the bell is 6" from one side to the other side across. This was at my grandfathers house since the 1920's and he always told everyone one it came off a Navy ship in the early 1900's. It's super clean and ready for a new home. All that's missing is the string to pull but that can be replaced very easily. In fact I have leather rope that I will send with the bell. Please see all pics. Antique Brass Alarm Bell Boat Ship Trolley Building Wall Restored Working Order
Antique Brass Alarm Bell 1920s. 30s Era You often read how the photos do not do the item justice. Well folks in the case of this Brass bell. I to must state the same! The brass on this Alarm bell has been polished and it does create quite an amount of glare when you try to photograph it. However the color of the brass is awesome and very shiny. Oh and did I mention. The Brass is free from dents, or cracks, repairs etc! As I mentioned it has been restored. So please view the photos for I am unfortunately not the expert on when it comes to finding the correct words to describe all the electric parts on this Alarm Bell. I can state that it does have a newer cord. The electrical components are very clean. Also. Based on my research I believe this bell was once used on a Large ship. However I cannot be certain. Perhaps it was used as an alarm ... morein a building or trolley, train or even the train's station, Fire House Station! It also can be missing a cover for the electrical components. But then again. That I cannot state for sure. Besides a Bell like this will probably become someones cherished collectible with a special place on a wall. And thus it will never see the elements of the outside environment! If you note in the photos. There is a brass back plate that was painted black with some Gold colored painted striping located behind the electrical components. This Brass plate also has 2 holes in it. So I assume it can be/was wall mounted. The design of the pin striping in gold appears to be that of Art Deco style, perhaps 20s early 30s era. It does work when plugged in. The gong is Awesome. It is a rather loud and repeated gong sound(till you pull the cord) I did not notice any manufacturers marks. Please note. This bell is mostly made from solid brass! Measurements- Bell measures approx. 7 and 7/8 inches in diameter. The overall length of the entire piece is approx 12 inches long.
