Solid Brass WW 1 (circa 1915) 8" U.S.N. Navy Fore Deck Ships Bell With Stand.
Offering this super nice all original solid brass 8" wide at the bottom USN Navy ship's bell with it's original brass clapper. Solid bronze mounting arm and slide bracket. This has been mounted on a thick slab of wood for display. I disassembled this bell assembly so you could see all of the different pieces with the package. Everything slid back into place fine and the bell will be shipped fully assembled. The estate said this came from a World War One era ship. Stamped into the brass at the inside top of this bell are the numbers 5 15. This same number, 5 15, is stamped into the long part of the brass clapper. The piece inside that holds the clapper has the letters"U.S. with a anchor figure between the"U. S. stamped into it's end, see photo) I believe the numbers may indicate the month/year of production(May 1915) ... moreThe bell has a smooth nicely patinated surface with marks here and there from use. The former owner is 90 years old and states he owned this for more than 50 years! Everything looks to be original except for the brass bolt at the top.there were 2 different types with this and I have shown the bell with each one in place. Don't know which one, if either, is correct, but they both will work fine, thread nicely in place and BOTH will be included. This bell weighs in at 25 pounds unpacked(and 27 pounds once boxed for shipping folks)shipping will be based on your zip. I will use a figure of $30.00 but this is just an estimate. The bell is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips, or repairs. It has a beautiful patina and sounds great. This bell is not marked but I acquired it along with a small collection of U.S. Navy items and the owner told me it belonged to his grandfather and came off a World War One ship. Vintage U.S. Navy Brass / Bronze Bell USN
This is a Nice Vintage U.S. Navy Brass/ Bronze Bell USN that I have just recently purchased at a local Estate Sale. This a very nice bell that measures 9 1/2" across the mouth and weighs 26 pounds before packing. The only thing I can find is 2 cosmetic pot mark type marks on the bell. One in the front& one on the side but in No way do they affect the ring tone of the bell, as it is quite loud and continues for several seconds after ringing. Here is a vintage maritime ship's bell. I think it is brass but looks as though it may have been painted years ago. Anchor measures 10 inches long and 7 1/2 inches wide. Bell is 6 inches long and 5 1/2 in wide. Ringer is 3 1/2 inches long. Age is unknown but it has been in my shed out back for many years. I am not sure where it came from. Antique Ships Bell. US on the front of the bell. The bell appears to be brass and has all the original patina. The base of the bell is 10" across, this weighs 22 pounds. I took the knocker off, the nut that was holding it was rusted so you will need to get a nut to attach it. I believe this is from a ship but am not 100% certain, based on other listings of the same bell and the US marked on the bell is how I came to that. Please ask if you have any questions Amazing find. This auction is for an original U.S. Navy solid brass ships bell circa 1930. Number 58-4667. It weighs 12 lb 8 oz without the box and packing material. The bell itself measures 6 1/2" high by 7" across. To the top of the round post it measures 8" high. The chain with ring measures 13 1/2" long. The wooden backboard measures 8 1/4" across. The wood has a few splits in places as shown in photos. No dents. Cracks, breaks, or repairs on the bell or chain. Very nice aged patina. You are bidding on this Vintage Brass& Copper Boatswain's Call/Whistle. Used in the US Navy in earlier years. It was once the only method other than the human voice of passing orders to men on board ship. I do not know its exact age. But it was in the home of a WWII Navy Veteran. Very Good Vintage Condition. It has the normal tarnishing and a few light pit marks from age. Whistle comes on a neck chain and is in its original box with Original Papers which describes the history and instructions. U.S.N. United States Navy Brass Foredeck Bell Original Lanyard & Yoke Arm LOUD
This is an original turn of the century United States Navy USN Fore Deck Bell. With not only the original mounting arm but original macramé lanyard, both of which are seldom to never seen on bells of this era. The bell has not been polished and has all of the original patina. It has an AMAZINGLY loud tone to it and rings true. Resonating a clear sound. Instrument grade acoustics. The mounting arm is present but is tweaked looks like force was used to get it off of the wall. The original mounting holes appear to be augered out too, likely to accommodate for the force needed to pry it off of the wall. I believe this is why you often find these bells with no mounting arm. Most of the time it was to difficult to remove during salvage of these older Naval Vessels. The concentric rings located on the top and bottom show wear. And have sections ... moreflattened out or chipped off, which shows its true age and mentioned for accuracy as it doesn't really detract much from the bell It measures(not including the added width from the mounting arm) right at 11 inches to the top of the acorn finial nut. And 9 3/4 inches wide across the bottom. It weighs right at 30 pounds. Please see the pictures and ask me anything else you'd like to know. I am listing this with a fair Buy-It-Now price. VINTAGE ROYAL NAVY SHIPS BRASS BELL FANCY BELL ROPE
Presented is a beautifully proportioned Royal Navy bell which most likely was in service on the bridge or quarter deck of a smaller ship. It is unnamed and and does not have the Broad Arrow mark. However. The classic Royal Navy crown at its top shows the remanents of grey paint, and the inside rim of the bell shows the mark of the clapper around its circumfrance. This is caused by the rolling and pitching of the vessel over time as the clapper strikes all over in a random fashion. Because of its fine proportions, classic design, and the clear, resonate ring, we are beleive this is an authentic Royal Navy bell. It comes with a fancy three strand bell rope with two turksheads. Inside of bell showing random flattening made by the clapper around the circumfrance Royal Navy bells are rarely found in this country. And this is the first one we have ... morehad in about eight years. PROVENANCE: Purchased in the ordinary course of business with no known provenance. Backside of the bell showing some very minor pitting. NAVY BELLS RING WITH DISTINCTION: There is nothing comparable to the sound of a Navy bell made for the U.S. Navy and the British Royal Navy. They use a special"bell metal" formula which produces a clear. Sharp ring and sets up a strong reverberation that has a strong resonance. Once a bell like these is heard, it will never be forgotten. Cheap imitations can never achieve this distinctive ring because"bell metal" is a specially formulated bronze alloy, unique to the Navy for this highly specialized use. VINTAGE U.S. NAVY SHIP'S BELL, BRASS, 1940's or early 1950's era
This outstanding Bell measures 7 1/4" in diameter and 6" tall. And weighs about 4 lbs. The ring is extremely loud and clear. There are 2 nicks under the U.S.N. due to age and wear, and other small dents and scratches, which adds character to the bell. We have owned it for about 10 years, and the lady who gave it to us said that it was on her husband's ship during the war, but she is now deceased so we do not know what ship it was on, or which war.

This nice old bell was purchased from a individual cleaning out thier basement. In a coastal town in Maine.
