For auction today is this awesome Vintage Perko Chromed Bronze Maritime Bell. Catalog nr 420 6. This was an estate find in Norfolk. Virginia. A Captain in the U.S. Navy owned it previously. This signal bell is great when fog conditions require you to alert other vessels that you are near. The bell is polished. There is some pitting on the arm and it is missing the mounting bracket but that is normal from what I've seen with others. The bell is 5 3/4" in diameter at the bottom. This UNUSUAL antique brass hand bell was probably made in New York or New England in the mid 1800's or earlier. I was told it was a fog bell. The style compares to brass mortar and pestles made in the same era. The brass bell is 5 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall. Including the bras handle. I have never seen another one like it.
