ANTIQUE / Vintage Brass Bronze Whistle TUG BOAT AIR FOG HORN; Old Nautical Ship
Up for grabs is a old brass. Or bronze, Tugboat Ship Air Horn. I found it digging in a guys basement at an estate sale. Their basement was full of other old boating and shipping pieces. Living in the Seattle Puget Sound area you tend to come across this kind of stuff time and time again. These were typically used on Tugboats or other smaller commercial type of vessels that made numerous trips through Puget Sound and the Ocean. The previous owner was knowledgeable and told me that it should still work fine, and that it is very loud. Please note that I have not actually tested it though. This piece looks to have been painted a few times throughout its life. Imagine the stories it could probably tell! Vintage U.S. Navy Brass / Bronze Bell USN
This is a Nice Vintage U.S. Navy Brass/ Bronze Bell USN that I have just recently purchased at a local Estate Sale. This a very nice bell that measures 9 1/2" across the mouth and weighs 26 pounds before packing. The only thing I can find is 2 cosmetic pot mark type marks on the bell. One in the front& one on the side but in No way do they affect the ring tone of the bell, as it is quite loud and continues for several seconds after ringing. This bell is a very nice bell the lady I got it from told me her father had worked on the tugboat that it came off of. She said it came from the St Lois area. I can not verify this. But have found that there was a tugboat ship named Helena that was built in 1938. Anyway this is a very large bell solid brass has a beautiful ring to it. The base has a diameter of 18" and it stand over 20" high on the brass stand. I have not even wiped it off because the patina is so nice. email if you have questions.

I was told this is an antique ship's bell. But it has no name on it, so please use your own expert judgment. I can tell you that it is beautiful, it has a nice look to it, it certainly looks like an antique casting, and it is substantial& heavy. It is 8" dia. at the bottom, and approx. 8.25" tall. I think the mounting piece was added later, but it too is nice& heavy-duty, and looks good with it(even though it is chrome on iron) The wood piece was how it was mounted to the wall in the estate I bought it from. The whole thing weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. so the bell alone is probably around 10 lbs. No clapper inside, you'll have to add something. Over four hundred lives and twenty-one tons of California gold were lost in the wreck. There are several books written and documentries filmed about the discovery of the wreck all acknowledging the discovery by the Arctic Discoverer. Super Rare* Large Antique/ Vintage Wooden Brass Bronze Nautical Maritime Shipyard Bell Mold I can't find any others like this that have been sold! Fresh from an estate sale of a Naval Officer. I believe this to be a mold for a brass or bronze bell. Probably some how from the Navy shipyard. It is made of small blocks of wood, glued together then carved out into its present shape. The wood is painted black and appears to be oak. There is a"75# painted on top with white paint. No other marking that I can find. It stands approximately 13" tall and the bottom diameter is 14 1/4" The last pics show some bells with similar shapes that might have been made with similar molds.

The large cast brass eagle slides in top, looks very nice, might not be original to bell? Sits on a turned wood base and 3 small feet. The feet have some heavier losses, see picture# 7. BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED 1800s SHIP YACHT SAILBOAT BRONZE/BRASS BELL
You have a lot of pride in your craft and it certainly deserves the best. Although relatively small in size. This bell has that elegant look that makes it a focal point onboard or off, and also delivers a deep rich tone that carries well. I worked in machine shops most of my life and usually near the shipyards. This bell is dated back to before the 1920s and more than likely the late 1800s. All of the original pieces are cast from bronze, striker, hanger, pivot rod and arm. It has the elongated cast acorn nut and the 12 thread per inch hardware of the day. It was originally swedged to a ship. I fabricated the mounting plate, and the pieces below the arm seen attached with a small brass pin. I didn`t want to hang a cheap chain and the linkage gives more control when sounding the bell. Bell is 5.5 wide at mouth, 6 inches high and 7 inches deep ... morebut weighs 6 lbs. Small mount and size makes it easy to hang in any space. 3 brass mounting screws included, ready to hang. This will make a classy addition to your craft. Ship Bell - RARE Shape ! Old BRONZE BRASS Copper Patina Antique Vintage Nautical
This old Bell is a recent estate find. It is most unusual. It measures about 5 inches in height The top flat part is about an inch and a half cross; the valve opens up to a maximum of approximately four and three-quarter inches: there is some green discoloration on the belt. That is why we think it might be heavy copper. But it could be brass bronze. It appears to be a nautical bell. We do not have the mounting bracket. The only Farisour Manemet portion of the entire bell is the wire that goes from the clapper to the eye at the top. Is quite unusual and it's shape. Is being sold as is condition. Vintage U.S. Brass/Bronze Ship's Bell Dredged from Off Virginia Waters
This is an old Brass or Bronze ship's bell possibly Greenberg dredged up from the Virginia coast many years ago. The bell is marked U.S. on one side. There are no other markings known to the seller. The clapper is fine and solid. The bell rings out loudly when struck. The bell is very solid. It is believed that it was hit or struck by a shell given a solid mark on the back side. The shot has placed a hole in the center of the indent. The bell stands 8 inches tall and is 9 1/2 inches in diameter. The stem at the top measures 2 inches tall. This may be a WW 11 Greenberg bell dated 1945. It may also be earlier. The exact age is not known. This is NOT a reproduction. The bell is encrusted with sea urchins. The bell can easily be seen through the sea growth as it is not completely covered. This is a very heavy bell maybe 35 pounds or so. It ... morecomes with a display attachment fastened at the top. This piece will hold the bell without fear of falling apart. The bell can be purchase with or without the support bracket. Displaying it just as it is with all the underwater creatures makes a it a great nautical trophy. This is a great old ship's bell.

Welcome to Grandpas Garage today you are looking at a very nice older bronze bell. As can be seen in the photos this old bell is in great shape. I am unable to find a maker or date on the bell. The bell itself is 7 1/5" tall 10" across the bottom and the arm is 11" long very heavy 30 lb. This bell has a great sound to it and the pull cord is in great shape with a bronze knob on the bottom. This sale is for bell which appears to be quite old and most likely came from the ocean judging by the corrosion and patina as well as condition of iron and wood. I am selling this for an older gentlemen. He acquired the bell from an estate auction in Southern Minnesota USA several years ago. The story he was given: The bell was discovered on a sunken wreck off of the coast of England many years ago. There is no provenance or documentation to support or disclaim this information to my knowledge. For all I know it came from an outhouse. There are no visible markings on the bell however it has not been cleaned or restored so I have no idea what might lay beneath the scale and crust that is on the bell. It is nonmagnetic so I am guessing it is made of bronze or brass. The clapper is corroded and has the hole for the tether or string however the clasp on the bell for the clapper has long since worn away. May be restorable? When the clapper is placed in the clasp it does match up very close if not exact to the wear on the skirt of the bell leading me to believe it is original or at least a damn good match. I cannot verify this, see pictures. Its about 11 inches high and about 10 inches across and the clapper is about 8 inches. I would guess the bell weight at about 30-50 lbs shipping weight. Brass Ships Bell salvaged from a dive off Costa Rican coast. It measures 6" wide at the widest point at the bottom. The top has a decorative finial with 5" curved mounting bracket. THIS IS A HUGE SOLID BRASS BELL 9' IN TALL OVER 12' IN WIDE AT THE BOTTOM. THIS IS A WONDERFUL PIECE OF HISTORY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A OLD TOWN FIREHOUSE BELL BEFORE THEY USED SIRENS TO ALERT THE TOWN THERE WAS A FIRE. AND THE TRUCK WOULD BE LEAVING THE FIRE HOUSE. THIS BELL WEIGHS OVER 43 POUNDS IT DOES NOT HAVE THE CLAPPER. AND THERE IS A REASON MOST DON'T HAVE THE CLAPPER. SO WHEN FIRE HOUSES STARTED PUTTING IN ALERT SIRENS THEY TOOK OUT THE CLAPPER AND LEFT THE BELLS MOUNTED. THAT WAS PUTTING THE BELL OUT OF SERVICE. When I noticed the black color of the bell I originally suspected it was iron but it is non magnetic and I can see green oxidizing on the underside of the bell. This bell is either brass or bronze. I really cant tell the difference. It is 8" by 8"It is well made, thick walls and about 16 pounds on my bathroom scale. Engraved on it is G. P. 5 1955. I assume it is from a ship made in 1955. I bought it because I was born in 1955. The original clapper is also there. Since this is a fairly heave item, postage will be $32.75. Vintage Bell Ship Nautical Marine Boat brass or bronze 5 inch diameter
This auction is for a nice. Vintage, bell. Not sure if it's brass of bronze, but probably one of those. If you don't own a boat, it would make a nice dinner bell for those big family dinners. It measures about 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches across the base. Mounting is super easy as you only have to unscrew the top from the clapper(inside the bell) then put screws in the flat base into a post(or something flat) then reconnect the bell using the top of the clapper to the mounting portion. VINTAGE U.S. NAVY SHIP'S BELL, BRASS/BRONZE AROUND WW II ERA
This outstanding Bell measures 7 1/4" in diameter and 6" tall. And weighs about 4 lbs. The ring is extremely loud and clear. There are 2 nicks under the U.S.N. due to age and wear, and other small dents and scratches, which adds character to the bell.

Large"ships" bell with mount and clapper mechenisim. Bell is 12 inches in diameter and bell portion is 10inches in height. Over all height is is 24 inches(top of bell mount nut to lowest portion of mount. It is very old exact age is unknown. And I could not locate a makers mark. Inscription on(brass/ bronze) mount"washer" says"EVERY FEW MONTHS TURN BELL SLIGHTLY SO CLAPPER WILL NOT ALWAYS STRIKE THE SAME PLACE" Bell has excellent tone.
