But this item is an exception. As a young woman in 1973, I went to New York for the first time and visited Tiffany's. The New York store was the only store at that time. My boyfriend had been in the Navy and I decided to buy this whistle because of him. When I brought it home, he admired it and played a few calls on it. I put it on a chain and wore it once or twice. But I broke up with him a year later and this whistle has sat in my jewelry box ever since. It is in excellent condition. No nicks or dents or major scratches. I believe that this is relatively early based upon it being made of coin silver rather than sterling silver. It measures approx. 5 3/8" long and is tarnished and has dings and a bend from being used.
