Up for grabs is a old brass. Or bronze, Tugboat Ship Air Horn. I found it digging in a guys basement at an estate sale. Their basement was full of other old boating and shipping pieces. Living in the Seattle Puget Sound area you tend to come across this kind of stuff time and time again. These were typically used on Tugboats or other smaller commercial type of vessels that made numerous trips through Puget Sound and the Ocean. The previous owner was knowledgeable and told me that it should still work fine, and that it is very loud. Please note that I have not actually tested it though. This piece looks to have been painted a few times throughout its life. Imagine the stories it could probably tell! This old Bell is a recent estate find. It is most unusual. It measures about 5 inches in height The top flat part is about an inch and a half cross; the valve opens up to a maximum of approximately four and three-quarter inches: there is some green discoloration on the belt. That is why we think it might be heavy copper. But it could be brass bronze. It appears to be a nautical bell. We do not have the mounting bracket. The only Farisour Manemet portion of the entire bell is the wire that goes from the clapper to the eye at the top. Is quite unusual and it's shape. Is being sold as is condition. Very unusual piece. Purchased from an estate. I really couldn't find any substantial information on the piece except that it is a maritime. Hand bellowed fog horn. Up for Auction is a Used Vintage Ships Chrome Plated Brass Bell. The Bell measures 8" across. This bell came off my grandfathers yacht back in the 50's. The reason its Chrome is to prevent tarnish on the brass and less up keep to polish. Bell does have the Bracket and Clapper, The Total height is 5.5" and 8" wide at base, This bell is still a requirement on Larger Boats. Antique Older Vintage Brass Ship Horn Trumpet Chesapeake Bay Work Boat Different
Here we have one of the nicest old time brass boat horns that I do think I have ever had. Found right here on the eastern shore of the Chesapeake Bay where I am sure it was used it measures about 14 inch overall with a bell mouth about 4 1/4 inch across. This horn is made very well with a nickel plated mouth piece that unscrews to show the brass reed assembly. On top of the horn are two brass loops which hold the hang chain which looks to be original. Horn is in excellent condition. Blows with a LOUD blast, no missing or loose parts. No dents, dings etc in the brass horn, mouth piece has some minor loss to the nickel. Ships Bell.This bell is larger than most measuring 15 inches in diameter and being 15 inches tall.It has the carved in name and year Lelykerk 1958 on one side.The Lelykerk was a Dutch Cargo Freighter launched in 1958 from the Hdw Hamburg Germany Shipyard and was scrapped in 1983.This bell is in very good condition and rings with a loud and sustaining tone.It has some small wear nicks here and there. The display stand is 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" at base and 8 1/2" tall to the top of the yoke.
