This is a pretty nice vintage ships bell from a boat yard sale that's being sold as is. It measures 8" wide at the opening x 5" high. And has a nice strong ringing sound to it. It would look nice on an old boat again, or as patio yard art. It has a 2 foot chain attached to the clanger. It has a time-aged tarnished finish from exposure to the salt sea air& weather. Not sure of it's age, or what metal or alloy it's made from, but a magnet doesn't stick to anything except the chain. It might've been chrome over brass/bronze, but that's only a guess. This bell is well made and very heavy for its size. It is 16 pounds. I was told that this is from a Russian patrol craft. The characters"CK-154" are deeply engraved on the bell. This UNUSUAL antique brass hand bell was probably made in New York or New England in the mid 1800's or earlier. I was told it was a fog bell. The style compares to brass mortar and pestles made in the same era. The brass bell is 5 inches in diameter and 6 inches tall. Including the bras handle. I have never seen another one like it. Antique Large 14.5" Bronze Great Lakes Maritime Ship Bell J.F.Durston
I am very pleased to offer this great ship bell that I acquired several years ago from a fellow who's great uncle worked at the one port where the ship came in and where he had access to the ships. His nephew had a passion for the ships items and he gave this to him before the ship was sold back in the day. It is signed J F Durston which is a Great Lakes ship which was in service from 1908 to 1961 where it was towed to Germany as scrap. THe bell has nice size with a 14.5" diameter and stands 11" tall. I have taken pics showing the front. Back, and inside. There is no cracks, breaks, repairs or deformities and has a nice patina.I did do the magnet test and it did not stick and was non-magnetic! Vintage Nautical bell The anchor measures 9 inches tall 7 inches wide at bottom. Extends out 5 1/4 inches when hung on wall. Has one screw attached. One missing as there is second hole toward top of anchor for hanging. The opening at bottom of bell is 5 1/4 inches and the bell itself is 5 3/4 inches tall. Bell hangs from a ring that is about 1 3/4 inches. Heavy piece, believe to be brass and has a loud and nice ring! White nylon rope is braided and is about 4 1/2 inches long. Nice vintage piece. I assume it is from a ship made in 1955. I bought it because I was born in 1955. The original clapper is also there. Since this is a fairly heave item, postage will be $32.75. This auction is for a nice. Vintage, bell. Not sure if it's brass of bronze, but probably one of those. If you don't own a boat, it would make a nice dinner bell for those big family dinners. It measures about 4.5 inches tall and 5 inches across the base.
