Bell ropes date back to the 1600's and were made by sailors who had idle time. It would have been an honor to have your bell rope hanging on the ship's bell. Which was the heart of the ship. Comes with Stainless Steel Shackle. This bell rope resembles the Cape Florida Lighthouse. For the catwalk I used an eight point star turks head knot. A small bell rope with stainless steel shackle. These bell ropes are for smaller bells. Normally around 6 inches high or with a 6 inch opening, or less. The stainless shackle has an opening of 5/16 inch. Each bell rope is roughly 6 inches long without shackle. The shaft is 7/16 inch in diameter and the globe is approx. 1 inch in diameter. Made with nylon cord. A modified footrope knot and crowned to the turks head covered globe. I use thimbles to protect the nylon cord from wear and discoloring. The hard wood ball is painted white(to fill gaps in the globe) No charge for handling or packing except in rare cases which would be explained beforehand. You pay only the high rates of the USPS. The handle is 4 1/2 in high. the tone of this bell is very loud and sweet! We do not know the exact age or history of piece but it appears to be vintage. And when we got it originally it had a tag saying it was from a ship and it was brass. We tested by putting a magnet and did not stick. AN AMAZING ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL- BEAUTIFULLY WORN BY TIME AND THE SALTY SEA AIR This is a gorgeous ship's bell that has been sitting silently in the depths of my friend's garage. He's had enough of letting such a fine and unique item gather dust when there is a collector out there who will appreciate such a find. I do know that the S.S. Hamburg was a German ship that included both a military and non-military history from its first voyage in 1926 until it was scrapped in 1977. The S.S. Hamburg was. At one point, used during WWII by the Nazis. This bell was given to my friend by an older lady in payment for a kindness he did her some years ago. She told him she estimated it was used in the 40's(the S.S. Hamburg went through several bells. I have NO way to authenticate that statement. Offered for your consideration is this wall mount boat bell. It says Japan on it. It is so old and corroded that I am uncertain of the metal. A magnet will stick to it. So it has to be made of a metal that is magnetic. the bell is approximately 4 3/8" in diameter and 3 3/4" tall if you include the bolt on top. I found this at an estate sale today. Basically, what you see is what you get. The wheel mount is bent. You should be able to straighten it with a hammer. I will leave clean up to the buyer. Ship Boat Maritime Bell Genuine Not Reproduction Beautiful Peal
This bell is the real deal. The peal goes on and on and on so I'm positive this one is made of genuine bell metal bronze which has a significantly higher copper content giving it the genuine bell dark patina. It measures 6 3/8" across the bottom. The only marking I've found is a clearly stamped 12 at the top of the bell. In all the years I've had this bell I have never polished or attempted to"clean it up" It weighs 6-7 pounds so it's no lightweight. FREE shipping applies only to the lower 48 states. The serial number. 437222, indicates that this clock was manufactured between 1940 and 1944, during WW2. The clock runs beautifully with correct time. It runs as indicated, eight days. The chime works as it should but to me it seems slightly muted or muffled. The clock needs to be an upright position for the chime to be heard. The chime begins at 22 minutes after the hour and 8 minutes prior to the hour. The exterior of this clock is in excellent condition as well as the glass and the gasket. The clock comes with a vintage brass key. I don't believe it's the original though. Antique Large 14.5" Bronze Great Lakes Maritime Ship Bell J.F.Durston
I am very pleased to offer this great ship bell that I acquired several years ago from a fellow who's great uncle worked at the one port where the ship came in and where he had access to the ships. His nephew had a passion for the ships items and he gave this to him before the ship was sold back in the day. It is signed J F Durston which is a Great Lakes ship which was in service from 1908 to 1961 where it was towed to Germany as scrap. THe bell has nice size with a 14.5" diameter and stands 11" tall. I have taken pics showing the front. Back, and inside. There is no cracks, breaks, repairs or deformities and has a nice patina.I did do the magnet test and it did not stick and was non-magnetic! This is a really nice antique heavy bronze or brass bell with a heavy bronze or copper clapper. It looks like it was hand hammered. I am not sure if it was a old railroad locomotive steam engine bell or a maritime nautical bell. I do not find any marks. It is very heavy 7 pounds and measures 8" tall x 7.25" across at the bottom. It is very loud and sound as would have been the case with a train. Ship or maybe school bell. This is a wonderful 7-3/4" diameter solid brass captains Bell in great condition. It comes with the mounting bracket arm on but does not include the mounting brackets. No dents or cracks needs a good brass polish after being on the creek for a few years. This would make a wonderful gift for the vintage nautical collector. Also has a wonderful rich. Sound you can really hear the quality of this bell. It weighs 11+ pounds. it measures 9-1/4" tall including ringer(stem) Stem measures 7" which comes outside the bell) without ringer(stem) it measures 8" tall. 7-3/4" diameter Bracket is 10" long by 1-1/4 wide where it fits into a holder.
