This ... moreis truly a unique one of a kind piece! I was told it was a maritime bell. The initials U.S.A. are inscribed on this beautiful bell-I don't know if this is the company. Or if an individual put these letters on the bell. The style is spectacular! It look s excellent on its' own because of gorgeous style and character that it would bring to any room! The bell is 8 1/4 in diameter. And 6 1/4 in high. The handle is 4 1/2 in high. the tone of this bell is very loud and sweet! We do not know the exact age or history of piece but it appears to be vintage. And when we got it originally it had a tag saying it was from a ship and it was brass. We tested by putting a magnet and did not stick. This lighting fixture is in great condition with minimal ware. there are paint spots that you can see in close ups of pictures. This should all shine up beautifully to make it in close to perfect condition. we did not want to attempt to do this on our own without having the right materials. AN AMAZING ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL- BEAUTIFULLY WORN BY TIME AND THE SALTY SEA AIR This is a gorgeous ship's bell that has been sitting silently in the depths of my friend's garage. He's had enough of letting such a fine and unique item gather dust when there is a collector out there who will appreciate such a find. I do know that the S.S. Hamburg was a German ship that included both a military and non-military history from its first voyage in 1926 until it was scrapped in 1977. The S.S. Hamburg was. At one point, used during WWII by the Nazis. This bell was given to my friend by an older lady in payment for a kindness he did her some years ago. She told him she estimated it was used in the 40's(the S.S. Hamburg went through several bells. I have NO way to authenticate that statement. It is very loud and sound as would have been the case with a train. Ship or maybe school bell. This is a wonderful 7-3/4" diameter solid brass captains Bell in great condition. It comes with the mounting bracket arm on but does not include the mounting brackets. No dents or cracks needs a good brass polish after being on the creek for a few years. This would make a wonderful gift for the vintage nautical collector. Also has a wonderful rich. Sound you can really hear the quality of this bell. VERY OLD BRASS Antique Maritime Boat or SHIP's BELL & ANCHOR c 1940s
This is a rare set of bell and anchor. They were once attached to a ship or boat and are very weathered. The metal is brass[magnet does not stick to neither the anchor or bell] but it is badly tarnished and would need some serious polishing or refinishing to repair to like-new condition. The rope that was attached to the bell was removed as it was not salvageable. The bell still sounds GREAT! Sounds like a ship's bell. The piece is 80 plus years old and very rare. The anchor measures 8" top to bottom and 6 1/2" across and the bell is 5 1/2" top to bottom and 5" in diameter at the widest part. Good luck and thank you so much for looking! This vintage large bell is about 6 1/2 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches in diameter along the bottom. It weighs between 2 1/2- 3 pounds. It is in good vintage condition and has great patina. I have not polished it and have left it in"as found" condition and will that to the buyer's discretion. It does not have a hanger. But the top knob of the bell raises up and down so you could hang it easily. The knob also unscrews and is removable so it may be hung in several different ways.
