For sale is a fabulous Vanduzen& Tift bell. The bell measures 14" tall and is about 9" in diameter. Vanduzen& Tift used this name on their bells from 1865 to 1894 so this is an old bell. I'm not sure if this was used on a ship or maybe for a school bell. It definitely was used though because there is some paint loss from where it was hit over and over. Handsome Antique Vtg Heavy Brass or Bronze Bell ~ Ship Train School ?
I was told this is an antique ship's bell. But it has no name on it, so please use your own expert judgment. I can tell you that it is beautiful, it has a nice look to it, it certainly looks like an antique casting, and it is substantial& heavy. It is 8" dia. at the bottom, and approx. 8.25" tall. I think the mounting piece was added later, but it too is nice& heavy-duty, and looks good with it(even though it is chrome on iron) The wood piece was how it was mounted to the wall in the estate I bought it from. The whole thing weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. so the bell alone is probably around 10 lbs. No clapper inside, you'll have to add something. HI. You are bidding on this handsome solid brass Naval Captains Ship Bell.The condition is great all original patina as one would expect.The bell measures 8' across and it stands 6' tall. The origin is unknown and there are no markings on it. The Bell weighs over 3 pounds and is solid brass including the mounting arm. The ring tone is crisp and clear. Large Antique Bronze Church Bell Ship School Tower "Shieldhill" 60 lbs. 15" NICE
This is a nice antique bronze bell with the name"Shieldhill" There are no cracks or damage. Shieldhill is in Scotland. There is a local story in Shieldhill about the old 17th century church bell that was thrown in the Clyde river because the locals didn't want it moved in 1812 to the new church. Another bell served for many years before the original 1640's bell was recovered from the river and restored to the church. This may have been the 19th century bell that was used in the interim. It has a large iron clapper. It stands 15.5" tall overall, is 15" wide at the mouth and weighs 60 lbs including the clapper. We had it mounted outside our home for the last 40 years, it has a nice tone. Buyer will arrange for local pick up/shipping. ANTIQUE CAST IRON BELL FIRE-SCHOOL-SHIP FARM PUMP & ENGINE MF CO SENECA FALLS NY
Made by the Pump and Engine MF Co. of Seneca NY. It is cast iron and very heavy about 50 lbs. or so. It is about 11 inches wide at its crown and about 15 3/4 inches at its base. It has a 2 cast on its side, No sure if this came from a fire house and used to call firefighters in for a call, or at a school to call in the students or on a farm to call in the men from the fields for their meal or on a large ship for use to signal or in a fog? It comes with its yolk and an extension to hook a rope that would be pulled to ring the bell. It is very LOUD and has its original dong. Buyer will arrange for its pickup. This is on the market locally as well and this listing may be taken off before the first bid is received. If you would like this then don't miss out by waiting. LARGE 1900's Antique Cast iron & Brass Bell Ship Nautical farm school VERY LOUD!
Feel free to make me an OFFER This bell is BIG AND LOUD. The bell seems to be musically tuned. It's loud sound is super loud but at the same time it's a real nice tuned sound that keeps going. The bottom rim of the bell is 6" from one side to the other side across. This was at my grandfathers house since the 1920's and he always told everyone one it came off a Navy ship in the early 1900's. It's super clean and ready for a new home. All that's missing is the string to pull but that can be replaced very easily. In fact I have leather rope that I will send with the bell. Please see all pics. This vintage large bell is about 6 1/2 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches in diameter along the bottom. It weighs between 2 1/2- 3 pounds. It is in good vintage condition and has great patina. I have not polished it and have left it in"as found" condition and will that to the buyer's discretion. It does not have a hanger. But the top knob of the bell raises up and down so you could hang it easily. The knob also unscrews and is removable so it may be hung in several different ways.
