Up for grabs is a old brass. Or bronze, Tugboat Ship Air Horn. I found it digging in a guys basement at an estate sale. Their basement was full of other old boating and shipping pieces. Living in the Seattle Puget Sound area you tend to come across this kind of stuff time and time again. These were typically used on Tugboats or other smaller commercial type of vessels that made numerous trips through Puget Sound and the Ocean. The previous owner was knowledgeable and told me that it should still work fine, and that it is very loud. Please note that I have not actually tested it though. Vintage Small Ship or Boat Copper & Brass Fog Horn
For auction is a vintage mouth-blown copper and brass fog horn for a small ship or boat. These were used to signal one's position to other boats in conditions where visability was bad.This one has a couple of dents and a slight bend in the tube as though it was stepped on at some point. I did not try to straighten it. It still produces a very strong fog horn sound so the dents do not affect that aspect. The majority of the horn is copper with the mouth piece being brass. IT measures 13 1/4" long and it is 3 5/8" in diameter at the bell shaped end.

Up for your consideration is a Vintage 1956 Nippon Sento Bellow Type Marine Boat Fog Horn Type No. 1 Made in Tokyo Japan- This horn is in good condition considering its age but is missing the screw on piece that attaches the horn to the bellow. The piece shown in picture#11 sits on the top of the horn and needs to be soddered together at the seam but I don't see any threads on it to screw into the bellow which is why I noted that it is missing another piece. The bellow has some scuffs. Scratches and some black marks and has some Japanese words etched into it. The date says"1956, approved No. is 429 and the Manufactured No. is B1966. The wooden bellow piece measures 22 1/4" x 11" x 3 1/4" the horn measures 14" tall x 10" in diameter. Please look at the pictures for the best description. This antique fog/ signal horn is fresh from a local estate where it sat in a box for decades. It has never been polished and bears an incredible depth of original patina. Measuring 13 inches long and 2 1/2 inches at the bell. This is a fully functional horn and is very, very loud! It is unmarked and I cannot determine its age, though I suspect it dates to the early 20th century. The horn is in very good condition with a couple small dents and a very minor crease near the bell that you can feel more than see. I believe this is a boat/ maritime signal horn, though it would be equally at home making noise in a football stadium. A nautical brass horn with pump. I don't know exactly when was it made. It was certainly in the 20th century, and it's certainly old/vintage. It's in great condition. The pump works fine and it still makes a loud sound, It would certainly be heard from afar. These horns were used in boats and ships to notify other vessels of their presence within fog or at night. But some quick research indicates that this is most likely made by The Siebe Gorman& Co in the mid 1800's as a FOG HORN for maritime sailors and fishermen to sound out to approaching ships that they were near, or a ships FIRE HORN to alert sailors of onboard dangers. I have included a photo that shows what the unit would like if it came complete with the the bellows. This listing is just for a brass horn. There is no longer a bellows with this item. Only a horn is included! There are some indentations and some staining on the horn as can be seen in the photos. It appears that that the front portion of the horn might have once been ... moresoldered to the bottom section. But now the front portion can be removed. The horn includes the screw on collar that would attach the horn to the bellows. When I run my finger tips across the bottom, I can hear the horn amplify the sound! Own a piece of Catalina Island history. This fog horn was on the S.S. Catalina and still works! WELL! When you crank it up it is very loud. While living in Catalina my mother came upon this from a salvage guy there about 10 years ago. Who acquired many pieces from the ship. I am also throwing in a nice matted black& white photo of the S.S. Catalina in a black frame. The box is wood with original red painted finish and the words FOG HORN in white, which are faded. The horn itself is made from a"King" tuba by HN White Company Cleveland Ohio. The fog horn measurements are 46" tall 26" wide. The box alone is 22" tall and 14 1/2" wide.
