MIL-B674-C brass bells due to 5% nickel added to reduce tarnishing. It does give this bell a very clear ring that will produce about 111db at 1 meter. It is a special bell. These bells. Like other?unnamed? bells, were given to a ship's captain when the ship was decommissioned. These men died, and their family kept the bells in the garage or closet. Those family members are starting to pass on and the history of the bells have been forgotten. They have been appearing on the market over the last couple of decades. Named bells are returned and stored until the next ship with the same name is commissioned. If you can find a named bell, you have something very special. I have been restoring these pre-WWI bells to museum quality for several years. These bells are presented at retirement ceremonies. The Chief of the Boat does not qualify for a bell at retirement, but his men can obtain one from me and present it. It is never expected, and always greatly appreciated. Vintage Antique Copper/Bronze Ship's Bell - Wall Mount With Bracket - Nice Bell
I got this nice Ship's Bell from a recent estate. It is 8" diameter at the bottom and approximately 5" overall height. All pieces including clapper and bracket are non-magnetic copper/bronze. This bell is'as received and has quite a bit of patina. Along with a couple spots of light green paint. I couldn't see any markings on it, but there may be something under all the patina, I just didn't want to disturb the finish looking for something that may not be there. This auction is for an antique brass ship's bell in excellent condition. This bell is about 5" tall and 8" in diameter with an 8" lanyard with a turk's head. It weighs 2 lbs 7 oz. The bell is in excellent condition with no cracks. Chips, or repairs. It has a beautiful patina and sounds great. This bell is not marked but I acquired it along with a small collection of U.S. Navy items and the owner told me it belonged to his grandfather and came off a World War One ship. Antique/Vintage Old Ship's Bell from Maryland's Eastern Shore- Well used. It is old and looks like it. There is quite a bit of corrosion from previous use. Surprisingly. There is very little rust. With all the corrosion, it is hard for me to tell the type of metal but it may be brass. I know it is not iron because a magnet does not stick to it. If you are looking for a bell in mint condition, this is NOT for you. If you are looking for an old and well used bell, this may be for you. It is about 8" across the bottom opening x 5 3/4" tall. Vintage Antique Vanduzen & Tift Ship School Bell
For sale is a fabulous Vanduzen& Tift bell. The bell measures 14" tall and is about 9" in diameter. Vanduzen& Tift used this name on their bells from 1865 to 1894 so this is an old bell. I'm not sure if this was used on a ship or maybe for a school bell. It definitely was used though because there is some paint loss from where it was hit over and over. Handsome Antique Vtg Heavy Brass or Bronze Bell ~ Ship Train School ?
I was told this is an antique ship's bell. But it has no name on it, so please use your own expert judgment. I can tell you that it is beautiful, it has a nice look to it, it certainly looks like an antique casting, and it is substantial& heavy. It is 8" dia. at the bottom, and approx. 8.25" tall. I think the mounting piece was added later, but it too is nice& heavy-duty, and looks good with it(even though it is chrome on iron) The wood piece was how it was mounted to the wall in the estate I bought it from. The whole thing weighs about 11 1/2 lbs. so the bell alone is probably around 10 lbs. No clapper inside, you'll have to add something. You Are Buying an WWII ANTIQUE SOLID BRASS NAVAL SHIPS BELL(unmarked) mounted on a Custom Carved Wooden Shield. My 89 Year-Old God Father was in the Navy during WWII& used it on the 1st Launch Crafts used by the Navy in WWII on the Coast of New Guinea. The Bell still rings beautifully Loud& Clear& was used in Darkness&or Fog to alert Marine Soldiers he picked up or dropped into the water moving East to West along the New Guinea Coast. He took the bell as a momento& his uncle hand-carved the wood shield it was mounted on shortly after he returned from the war. i've asked him& looked. But can't find any marks, stamps or anything that identifies who or where it was made and he doesn't know.

This beautiful Classic bell was found in a Gloucester estate where I was told and it was once on a Gloucester Massachusetts yacht. I was able to clean and shine the chrome with a metal polish. More polishing work could be done to fully restore the beauty of this bell. The bell itself is 4½̎ tall and the base of the bell measures 5¾̎ round. AN AMAZING ANTIQUE SHIP'S BELL- BEAUTIFULLY WORN BY TIME AND THE SALTY SEA AIR This is a gorgeous ship's bell that has been sitting silently in the depths of my friend's garage. He's had enough of letting such a fine and unique item gather dust when there is a collector out there who will appreciate such a find. I do know that the S.S. Hamburg was a German ship that included both a military and non-military history from its first voyage in 1926 until it was scrapped in 1977. The S.S. Hamburg was. At one point, used during WWII by the Nazis. This bell was given to my friend by an older lady in payment for a kindness he did her some years ago. She told him she estimated it was used in the 40's(the S.S. Hamburg went through several bells. I have NO way to authenticate that statement. This is a pretty nice vintage ships bell from a boat yard sale that's being sold as is. It measures 8" wide at the opening x 5" high. And has a nice strong ringing sound to it. It would look nice on an old boat again, or as patio yard art. It has a 2 foot chain attached to the clanger. It has a time-aged tarnished finish from exposure to the salt sea air& weather. Not sure of it's age, or what metal or alloy it's made from, but a magnet doesn't stick to anything except the chain. It might've been chrome over brass/bronze, but that's only a guess. This old Bell is a recent estate find. It is most unusual. It measures about 5 inches in height The top flat part is about an inch and a half cross; the valve opens up to a maximum of approximately four and three-quarter inches: there is some green discoloration on the belt. That is why we think it might be heavy copper. But it could be brass bronze. It appears to be a nautical bell. We do not have the mounting bracket. The only Farisour Manemet portion of the entire bell is the wire that goes from the clapper to the eye at the top. Is quite unusual and it's shape. Is being sold as is condition. Antique Original Ships Bell From Navy "!sis" Ship - 1902
For sale is a very rare and original item. This is an antique 1902 ships bell from the USC&GS"Isis" This steamer was built in 1902 for William S. and John T. Spaulding of Boston. She was built by Marvel's Yard at Newburg NY and launched on Dec. 10. 1901. She was then fitted out at Fletcher's Ship Yard in Hoboken NJ and completed in 1902. It served from 1917-1919 in the U.S. Navy during WWI. It was lost on the Florida Coast as a result of striking a submerged object during hydrographic surveys. On more than one occasion she helped rescue mariners in distress. All this and more can be found on Wikipedia. The bell itself. I believe, is cast bronze and measures 10 inches tall and is 8 inches wide at the bottom of the bell. The weight is approx. 10lbs. The clapper is original, but I don't think the chain is. Antique Solid Brass Ship Bell - Handcast and Signed - Commissioned - No Rese
This is a beautiful handcast commissioned ship bell signed and daated around the middle. It reads Karen L. Lyndon 21. VIII. 93. The swinger that holds it is very ornate and has draped figures at the base holding the swinger. In the frame and base it measures 13 3/4 inches in height and 14 3/4 inches through. In its carriage. It measures 12 1/2 inches by 11 1/2 inches. Just the bell measures 9 3/8 inches in height and 5 3/4 inches through the base. Mounted to an oak stand. A beautiful display piece.
