Description Vintage mechanical boxing bell. The bell and the hammer are brass and the back is metal. This one is rather small compared to most. The bell's mechanism works fine but does stick once in a while. It does have a ring that goes on forever! Approximate Measurements The bell is 4" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" wide. This is a lot of 3 bell themed items. There are 2 bells. A school bell and a sleigh bell. There is a Bicentennial bell paperweight. The paperweight is marble with a brass Liberty Bell with an emblem with Bicentennial 1776-1976 on it. It is 2 by 2 inches square with felt on the bottom. It is in geed condition with some light wear from age and use. The antique sleigh bell is brass with a little bit of ornamentation in the brass. It is worn and has some corrosion. A wonderful antique. It is 2 inches high and about 1 3/4 wide. The last is a brass finish painted school bell with lots of use and some wear. 2 Primitive Antique Bells With Clappers Cow, Goat, Sheep + School Bell
This auction is for 3 bells. Two are old cow bells. The third one is a newer shiny copper like metal- a school bell. 1. The larger of the three that has a rounder shape was at one time painted a colorful design. Brass perhaps from India? This has worn off in places, dulled in most all of the surface, but still visible. The sound is loud and clear. The clapper looks like a fat nail- a piece of metal. It is 3 1/2" high and at its widest is about 2 1/4" 2. This 2nd bell looks to be the oldest. The sound is amazing- makes me think of what a real cow bell should and did sound. Sort of clunk, clunk. It is almost 3 1/2" tall, 1 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" long. The surface is mottled and is now dulled and stained with something white, here and there. 3. Antique Cast Aluminum School - Dinner - Yard Bells Wall Mount Squirrel Set of 4
These charming and very desirable bells measure 7-5/8 inches tall and 6-5/8 inches wide in diameter. They show age and surface wear. They could use a cleaning. All clappers are still attached and they ring good. I am not certain how these are to be mounted. These were found in an attic of a mid 1800's farm house in Short Tract. NY state in the middle of Amish country. MIGHT BE PLATED OVER BRASS, HAS PRINTING ON LOWER PART OF WOOD HANDLE BUT CANNOT MAKE OUT EXACTLY WHAT IT SAYS, IT IS 9 1/2" TALL AND 5 1/4" DIAMETER ON BOTTOM.MIDDLE ONE IS BRASS, IT IS 7 3/4" TALL AND 3/8" DIAMETER ON BOTTOM.SMALL ONE IS 5 1/2" TAL AND 2 3/4" DIAMETER AT BOTTOM, IT HAS BEEN SOLDERED AT BASE OF METAL WHERE IT GOES THROUGH AT THE TOP OF THE BELL.ALL 3 HAVE WOODEN HANDLES.THE LARGE AND MEDIUM ONES HAVE THE ORIGINAL"DONGERS" BUT THE SMALL ONE HAS A MAKESHIFT DONGER.
