Or if an individual put these letters on the bell. The style is spectacular! It look s excellent on its' own because of gorgeous style and character that it would bring to any room! The bell is 8 1/4 in diameter. And 6 1/4 in high. The handle is 4 1/2 in high. the tone of this bell is very loud and sweet! We do not know the exact age or history of piece but it appears to be vintage. And when we got it originally it had a tag saying it was from a ship and it was brass. We tested by putting a magnet and did not stick. This lighting fixture is in great condition with minimal ware. there are paint spots that you can see in close ups of pictures. This should all shine up beautifully to make it in close to perfect condition. we did not want to attempt to do this on our own without having the right materials. Offering this super nice all original solid brass 8" wide at the bottom USN Navy ship's bell with it's original brass clapper. Solid bronze mounting arm and slide bracket. This has been mounted on a thick slab of wood for display. I disassembled this bell assembly so you could see all of the different pieces with the package. Everything slid back into place fine and the bell will be shipped fully assembled. The estate said this came from a World War One era ship. Stamped into the brass at the inside top of this bell are the numbers 5 15. This same number, 5 15, is stamped into the long part of the brass clapper. The piece inside that holds the clapper has the letters"U.S. with a anchor figure between the"U. S. stamped into it's end, see photo) I believe the numbers may indicate the month/year of production(May 1915) ... moreThe bell has a smooth nicely patinated surface with marks here and there from use. The former owner is 90 years old and states he owned this for more than 50 years! Heavy Antique Large Cast Brass BELL nice sound MUST SEE 8 inches & old chain
This item is an old. Heavy bell with a great loud sound. It is not a tinkle or something you'd get from many modern bells or a bell which is thin- it's the large sound that actually seems to me more like a very large bell. This one is approximately 8 inches in diameter at the base and about 8 inches also in height if sitting on a table. I cannot tell how thick the bell is but am estimating a quarter inch or so of solid metal, perhaps somewhat more. I am guessing the material is brass but again don't really know and am not making any representations here. It is obviously a heavy solid metal but I just don't know enough to say. I am also guessing it was a maritime bell of some sort but, again, that is just a guess. The bell is weathered and looks old but I have no information on how old it is beyond the fact that I have owned ... moreit for about 30 years and our understanding was that it was old when we bought it. My pictures show an area of the bell where I have used metal polish to remove weather corrosion in order to give a sense of what the bell could look like and perhaps a better guess as to material. The picture also shows where there is a bit of paint at the edge of the bell- I think it's the only such place and could easily be removed but am leaving the finish as is except for the one area so a buyer can do what seems most desirable for the buyer's purpose. I think the bell must be cast metal and there is a pattern around the base, which I hope my pictures show at least to some degree. The inside of the bell has areas that are somewhat green and the outside perhaps a little as well, which is part of why I think the material is brass.

It would look nice on an old boat again, or as patio yard art. It has a 2 foot chain attached to the clanger. It has a time-aged tarnished finish from exposure to the salt sea air& weather. Not sure of it's age, or what metal or alloy it's made from, but a magnet doesn't stick to anything except the chain. It might've been chrome over brass/bronze, but that's only a guess. This bell is well made and very heavy for its size. It is 16 pounds. I was told that this is from a Russian patrol craft. The characters"CK-154" are deeply engraved on the bell. Complete with the clapper. I am not sure if this is brass or bronze. If I were to guess I would say it is bronze. Postage will be a bit high due to the weight. I will only ship to the US.

Here is a nice heavy Marine Chrome Bell in Very Good Condition for a ship or boat. Etc. It measures approx. 8" D on the bottom x 5" high. It has a bracket arm from the bell but no bracket to fasten to wall. It is very loud. The ringer inside the bell is about 4 3/4" long solid weight with a 9"braided rope. I am not sure if it was a old railroad locomotive steam engine bell or a maritime nautical bell. I do not find any marks. It is very heavy 7 pounds and measures 8" tall x 7.25" across at the bottom. It is very loud and sound as would have been the case with a train. Ship or maybe school bell. NAUTICAL 8" HEAVY BRONZE SHIP BELL VINTAGE OLD PATINA
This bell came off the Tanker"Sentis" One of five 100,000 tons tankers built in Singapore for Shell oil and on which I was Master for 7 years. The bell was supposed to be mounted outside the Navigation Bridge to mark the change of watches. But was never used. It is 8" diameter at the base and the body is 5" tall. Weights 7 pounds including the clapper. It has no monkey braid attached to the clapper.

vintage chrome 8" perko ship boat bell no bracket perko fog bell
used good condition. no bracket. No dents or repairs looks like chrome over brass. My magnet doesn't stick to it I am not even going to try to clean it. This bell is either brass or bronze. I really cant tell the difference. It is 8" by 8"It is well made, thick walls and about 16 pounds on my bathroom scale. Engraved on it is G. P. 5 1955. I assume it is from a ship made in 1955. I bought it because I was born in 1955. The original clapper is also there. Since this is a fairly heave item, postage will be $32.75.
