Primitive antique foot stool wooden bench 2 layers of vintage textile cover
Cutest little footstool! All wood with chippy paint and a cloth-covered top with two layers of textiles that appear to be original. The seat pad is detached. See the pictures for the best description of the fabric- its a dusty rose color with a woven floral pattern, feels like a cotton texture and there are no rips but it shows its age. There is another layer of fabric underneath this covering but I did not remove the top cover to investigate. Both textiles are held in place with small tacks and are intact enough to clean up or add your own layer of history- perhaps a needlepoint. No weird/bad smell. Dimensions are 14" long by 10" wide by 7" tall at the frame plus about 3/4" for the pad. It measures 15 inches long. 7 1/2 inches wide, and 6 1/2 inches tall. This step stool has mortise and tenon joints and very few nails. The sides of the step stool have a scalloped design. The wood is stained a medium brown. This step stool was made by my grandfather probably for my mother who was born in 1906 in Montana. So this step stool is well over 100 years old. He carved his last name(Miller) on the underside of the stool. The wood has some cracks, but this step stool is usable. This step stool would be welcomed by a collector of American antiques. Sorry. This is an old milking stool I think? It is very stout- thick wood- top measures about 14" square and it is about 11 1/2" tall- it is handmade so one corner is about 14 1/4- the curved legs measure 10" around through the middle- larger towards top and smaller towards bottom- there is a gap- see photo where the top is slightly off in one corner and it looks hand carved as well- this is a conversation piece for sure- it may have been painted earlier- looks like worn paint chips here and there- please see photos. I know it came from an old farm estate. It may just be a foot stool but this is one true beauty. Vintage Wood Wooden Birthing Stool Chair Primitive 3 Legs w Back Free Shipping
Vintage. Birthing stool. We found it at an estate sale in San Diego, California but don't know it's origins. Made completely out of wood with the exception of a metal plate with 2 screws that hold the back and seat together. I think the plate may have been a modern addition on an antique stool that originally was held together only by pegs(second photo from the end) The 3 legs are threaded and screw into the seat. The top of the back and both sides of the seat have a clover design cut-out of the wood. The cut-outs are handles to hold and pull against during labor. As it stands it measures 28" tall by 20" wide by 17" deep and weighs 7 1/2 pounds. Stool will be disassembled for shipping. You will need a screw driver to re-attach the metal plate but the legs are hand-screw. Condition: There is a wooden patch in the seat(last ... morephoto) Some wear on the varnish. Good. This is an antique wooden stool hand crafted from one piece of wood. Three legs were crafted out of the same piece of wood.
