It was originally RED on the top, you can still see the original color through the corrosion and rust. In all its natural glory. This awesome authentic dairy barn milking stool makes a great decor piece or photography studio or theater production prop. Sits fine and is still usable and stable. Measures 12" high. Seat is round, 9" circumference. Smaller circle with 1-1/2" star cut out is 4" around in circumference. Finish is rusty with some corrosion. Hardware appears all original. The fabric I choose was a copy of an old Williamsburg style fabric, so I felt it very appropriate for this lovely rare stool. I actually call it a bench because it is so large. Condition: The stool is in excellent condition with no breaks or flaws to the old lovely patina. There is a repair to one corner and I took pictures so you could see it. Other than that it is lovely. It has never been around animals or smoke. I restore and reupholster my furniture when needed and I have a big carriage barn that I store my antiques in.NO animals.NO smoke and I sell in lovely condition. Age is my best guess around 1790 to 1820. The rectangle of the footstool is not exactly square. Its off a little bit.but THAT IS HOW THEY MADE IT. My upholster laughed when he made the new cushion(nice and firm) and said, it is a little off. I told him, he was a little off and we both laughed. He went on to say. Antique Arts Crafts Mission FOOTSTOOL Mortise & Tenon Joints
Antique arts n crafts or mission footstool. It measure 14" long. 9" deep, and about 8" high. The wood is solid and heavy, but I do not know what species it is. Someone has put on the dark green naugahyde cover a long time ago, maybe in the 1970s or so(and they didn't do that great a job either, but it's passable) The top feels padded, so I suspect the old covering, maybe even the original, is under the green cover. This little gem features mortise and tenon joinery, in addition to the original screws that helped fashion this footstool. There used to be round metal button type discs on the bottom of the feet to help it move easier on the floor, but now only one of them remains. Condition is fair to good. Some age cracking. Edges rounded and worn through age. A small chip off the wood on one side. These are not big things ... moreand are easily remedied. Some may love the romantic old beauty as it is- some may wish to recover the top and dude this piece up- both good options. Vintage older wood footstool Nice old wood item what I assume to be a foot stool. The piece is old and quite original looks to be hand made. The item shows significant use and age. The finish is untouched and the wood patina is very attractive. There is a non distracting crack or split on the top center this adds to the flavor of the piece in my opinion this can be seen in the images. There are signs of past very old repairs as well. The images detail the item and its construction. Its craftsman made and doubtless for a specific application several decades ago I would guess it served as a foot stool. Beautiful. Victorian era, small, round lady's antique cast iron and wood footstool. The three cast iron legs and the edge of the solid wood base have been painted an egg-shell white/cream. Paint has chipped off in spots, adding to the character and age of the piece. The top is a beautiful needlepoint pastoral scene of girl on a bench next to a pitcher with a cherub; background is deep red orange. It may be the original, partial original, or a replacement cover. I have for auction an estate find. This is a Victorian Footstool. Often called a slipper stool. The legs are cast iron, with an ornate design. The legs are attached to a wooden frame that has been covered with horsehair, a batting and then the leather piece. From the underside their are 8 wooden balls that have been attached with nails. The leather has been tacked and nailed on the side of the board and then the legs were screwed to the top. The approximate dimensions are 11 1/2" long& 8 3/4" wide. The legs are almost 5" tall and with the cushion on the stool 6" high. I did not see any breaks or repairs in the cast iron. Nicely crafted wooden body is quite solidly made and sturdy. The top of the footrest is upholstered with hooked wool strawberries and leaves on a black field. The loops are done with a fine hand and give the impression of needlepoint. This charming hand-worked top is a later addition over whatever original cover the stool had. Some of the fabric corners are coming untucked. The upholstery is dusty. The body of the footstool under the padded top creates a visually intriguing profile by use of concave.
