Description Vintage French Dining Table with 6 chairs We are so excited to be able to offer you a few exquisite pieces from a local estate. The consignee is moving and felt they could part with just a few things and that makes this your lucky day! This lovely French dining table and 6 chairs was made especially for her grandfather when they lived in France in the 20's and 30's. It appears to be a lovely oak. The pieces are in very good condition. There are a few spots where the finish has been compromised however some TLC would quickly repair most of those. Besides. I think those things add character! Three of the chairs have the original cane seats and three of them have replacement wooden seats but the holes for the caning are still intact. The table is 73" long with the leaf(which is 30" long) 52" wide and 27 1/2" ... morehigh. The chairs are each 38" high at the back and 17" high at the seat. The seats ore 14" in the back and 17" along the front edge. As you can see by the photos. There has been some repair to the underside of the table to make it sturdier. 4 NOS Tack on Chair Seats (20-25 yrs.old) Excellent Shape Use Instead of Cane
This auction is for 4 NOS(New Old Stock) Chair Seats( one simulates a quilted pattern in form- as seen in photo#1) Photo#2 shows the 4 seats the bottom left is the quilted type seat and the other 3 are all the same in that photo and those 3 are in photos#4. 5, and#6 have a fancy pattern like carved oak, the look of the Victorian era and the seats have a rounded shape around the front and curves in toward the back. About 12" deep and 12 3\4" wide for the actual seat shape and 15 3\4" square the total size of the whole seat. They can be tacked on and stained and finished to match the whole chair, replaces the expensive option of having the chair seat caned. When these simulated leather seats are attached to the chair and as I mentioned finished to match the chair they look good when done properly. They can be cut to shape with ... morea bandsaw of any size or a jig saw or sabre saw or most any saw with a thin flexible blade. A heavier type of cutting scissors like tin snips would work. The quilt pattern single seat(photos#1 and#3) measures 15 3\4 inches square on the outside edges and about 13 1\2 inches wide and 12 1\2 inches deep and is also rounded on the front edges and tapers to the back. All are in excellent shape never used and not stained or darkened, they were stored covered up all clean. To give you an idea of the price of these chair seats a modern catalog has them at 14.99 EACH for the same seat I have 3 of and 22.99 for the quilted single seat. Pair of Louis XVI Chairs With Cane Seats and Backs and Brass Trim. Medallion trim on front legs and floral plaques on front on each seat. Brass beading surrounds caning on chair backs. Heavy. Solid wood with very nice original finish. Caning is hand woven with a wonderful dark patina. One chair is signed and has some french writing on the bottom as shown in Picture 9. One chair is solid. This is a great pair of vintage rustic Hickory childs chairs. One is a rocker. The other a chair. they both have their original woven seats. they measure 20" tall to the top of the back rails, 12" wide x 12" deep. the rocker is 18 1/2" deep along the bottom rockers. the seats are 10 3/4" high off the floor. the large diameter uprights measure around 1 3/4" diameter. the chair seat has some damage as seen. the rocker has a couple pieces loose that need adjusting. Cedar Strip Canoe, 15ft, Stainless and Bronze Hardware, No Ribs, Cane Seats
Up for bid is an excellent cedar strip canoe. The hull was made from a single piece of cedar. Strips were glued-up two at a time and no fasteners were used in the hull construction. White Oak is used on the rails. And it is scalloped on the inside for easy washing, so water is not trapped when you tip it sideways. All hardware is stainless steel and bronze. There are no ribs. Which makes it light and easier to clean, plus more comfortable to use. Both cane seats have backrests and on the one closest to the center you can flip the backrest 180 degrees to use the canoe solo. Or remove the backrest entirely. The other backrest folds down. The hull is finished inside and out with an invisible fiberglass mesh and resin. Coated with several layers of marine varnish. Also included are two wooden paddles. Store bought. This canoe is a joy to own ... moreand to paddle. It has a few light scratches on the bottom of the hull. And a tiny bit of cane on one of the seats is damaged, but overall I would say the condition is excellent, especially the finish and quality of the cedar. There are no knots in the wood. Local pickup only in Swansea. Massachusetts, but I will help load it on a truck if you want to arrange your own truck to deliver it.

Three oak bentwood chairs with cane seats. One of these chairs has a paper tag reading. Herhold Chicago. The other two have the name, Herhold Chicago" engraved into the wood on one side of the base of the seat. Between 1870 and 1885, Chicago, Ill. went from bring the fourth largest furniture producing center behind Cincinnati, Ohio, Philadelphia, Pa. and NYC. to the number one largest furniture producing center, after a slow restart from the famous Chicago fire of 1871. Its attractiveness to investors was its great development as a railroad hub and for manufacturing products made from wood, there was no match for its location in the amount of lumber that passed through the city daily. By consulting the 1870 census’ list of manufacturers engaged in manufacturing furniture, a Frederick Herhold is listed as one of the seven largest furniture ... moremakers of that time. It was also noted that Messrs. F. Herhold and A.P. Johnson jointly owned the largest chair factory of that time, employing a capital of not over $50,000. In 1885, the partners“were divided by two separate concerns” and Herhold Furniture was once again its own company. By 1900 census, Herbold Furniture is not listed in the top furniture manufacturing companies. By all this, we can assume the bentwood chairs where the company name is engraved were made by Herhold Furniture sometime in the 1870s. The one with the paper label was made during the second incarnation of Herhold after his partnership w/ Johnson ended. These museum-quality chairs are in excellent condition and will be accompanied by a certified appraisal from the Chicago Appraisers Association dated September. 2012. That appraisal states: After careful examination we have determined the following: Pair of English circa 1690 Charles II walnut side chairs with cane seats, elaborately carved. Total Resale/Appraisal Value: $1,850. An earlier appraisal is dated April. 1984 was prepared by John M. Karges, Inc. of Evansville, Indiana. It was John Karges who professionally restored the chairs which I had inherited several years earlier. This appraisal states: The chairs are of late 17th Century design. The carving design motifs indicate that the manufacturers of these chairs were influenced by styles of the time popular in Portugal, Germany and the British Isles. Cane seats and backs were typical ... moreof chair construction during this period. While there are no identifying marks on them, we judge that your chairs were probably made in Germany or in Belgium. Similar caned and heavily carved chairs made from walnut wood are to be seen in the Glasgow Art Gallery and Museum. The Karges appraisal recommended"that the minimum insurance valuation on these chairs be $1250 for the Arm Chair, and $950 for the Side Chair. These two chairs were brought to America from Germany in the early 1800s and displayed in the oldest home in Evansville. Indiana. I documented that house, employing a professional photographer, for a national magazine. The owner of the house had grown up there, had pictures of the home from its origin, and had returned the chairs to their original location in the library foyer. I inherited them from her estate. This has been a great canoe for us. Its about 20 years old and still looks great and is a dream to paddle. Its always been stored upside down. The seats are in good condition with no signs of breakage. It probably has around 70 miles on it mostly lakes some streams. So you will see some scuffs but no dents or gouges to the hull. 17' Old Town LL Bean Canoe With Cane Seats, Oars, Seat Backs and Bag NICE!!
This has been a great canoe! It will be hard to see it go but just don't have the space for it anymore. Its about 20 years old and still looks great and is a dream to paddle. Its always been stored upside down. The seats are in good condition with no signs of breakage. It probably has around 70 miles on it mostly lakes some streams. So you will see some scuffs but no dents or gouges to the hull. The paddles are beautiful hardwood with cupped handles and polymer rockguard tips. I'm also including 2 strap-on seat backs and an under-seat storage and tote bag. This canoe sells new for $1900 + ~$250 for the paddles and accessories.so this could be a great deal for you! From our family estate in New York City, these items are in excellent condition with no flaws of note. Wood grain appears to be rosewood or mahogany. Top to bottom measures 36" high, with a 14 1/2 x 15" seat, floor to seat is 16" Cane seat, spindle back, hand carved details and acorn finials! Dates to c. 1880.
