From a local estate- Beautiful c1890 Silver Perfume or Scent bottle with repousse Art Nouveau floral design. The hallmarks are very tiny and difficult to read- 2 at the bottom edge and one on the lid or cap near the hinge(see last two photos) I believe they are French. The bottle contains its original tiny ground glass stopper and has a ring on the back for attaching to a chatelaine. Heavy for its size- will not easily dent. Weighs 18.8 grams. Measures 2 3/8 tall. Has a gold vermeil or gold wash inside the cap and stopper area. The bottle is in very good condition with few signs of wear. I found a few tiny dents- nothing that detracts or is easily noticed. I guarantee it to be silver and not plated. The last two photos have a yellowish tint but that is just the way the light reflects and NOT there in real life. The blue flowers on the face and rear of the bottle are hand painted with raised beading to give the piece a real textured appearance. The gold trim still has a lovely glimmer considering it was painted over 150 years ago! I did notice what look like a chip on the bottom corner, but when I took my loop out and look at it, the gold paint covers the chip. I would consider this a manufactures defect. There are several small chips in this bottom area. But two of them are also covered with gold paint. There is one small chip around this bottom area. Please look at the photos and notate. ANTIQUE FRENCH CUT CRYSTAL PERFUME/SCENT BOTTLE IN GILDED CASKET
Here I have a gorgeous antique French perfume casket. The set includes four cut crystal bottles with faceted stoppers. The bottles rest in a gilded casket with a flower swag design. The cut bottles are are 1 3/4 inch square and just under 4 1/2 inches tall to top of faceted stopper. The casket base is aprox 4.25 inch square. For those of you who collect these caskets you must realize this is a large example. I would say this set is in very nice antique condition. One stopper is frozen in place and I would just leave it that way as you do not want to crack the neck off. I cleaned 3 of the bottles with the free stoppers and they display well with mild residue. The forth bottle with the frozen stopper has more and this can be seen in the photos. Some small edge nicks& stopper tip nicks. As you can see this is a very nice set and displays ... morevery well. We were told from the estate where we found many treasures of amazing antiques that these perfume bottles with matching tray are said to have belong ed to the women's grandmother and from the late 1800's. Beautiful white opaline with a bluish cast. The stopper is original and is undamaged and the end is free of chips. The bottle itself is in excellent condition with no damage. This is her Shocking scent from 1937 in figural flacon adorned with blown glass flowers and leaves. The glass dome. Decorated at bottom with stenciled lace image matches the lace on the shocking pink box. I believe the stopper is ground glass and still has the long dauber intact. It measures about 6” tall with dome by 3 1/2" wide by 2 1/2" deep. I love that manufacturers once cared so much about the presentation of a fabulous luxury scent that they went to trouble to create such beauty as this! Here is a rare. Victorian era,Eglonise French Blue Opaline perfume or cologne bottle. It has a band of enamel hand painted white flowers highlighted in gold gilt. The top has a ground neck and is flutted at its rim. There is a pontil mark on the bottom showing it was hand blown. It measures10" tall and is in mint condition. It displays to great advantage.
