Stunning Antique English Cut Crystal & Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle / Flask
A wonderfully tactile scent flask. With it's deeply cut crystal in a series of star cuts within a diamond shaped lozenge. The glass is a beautiful Emerald green fading to clear at the bottom of the flask. The screw-top lid is decorated with repousse work crowned with a circular cartouche which could be engraved by your silversmith if you wished to personalize. The interior is cork filled to avoid evaporation of the precious contents. The silver is of course hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, Victorian in era. The makers initials CM are present for the silversmith, Charles May. Excellent condition, measuring 4 1/4" x 3" x 1" at widest. Antique Large Rounded English Cut Glass Sterling Silver Perfume Cologne Bottle This listing is for a gorgeous antique perfume/cologne bottle that is in excellent condition. It is a large rounded cut crystal bottle with a sterling silver hinged top and a glass stopper. The cut is beautiful and there is a 12 point star on the bottom. Please be sure to enlarge each picture for a better view as I don't think that I will be able to do this piece justice with my description. I tried to research the hallmark and will share what I found with you. If I'm wrong. You are more than welcome to return the bottle for a full refund as long as it is in the exact same condition as when I send it to you. The metal top is a raised floral pattern and has no dents. I did my best to clean it but am sure that the buyer will be able to do a much better job. ... moreAs for the hallmark, I am positive that there is a lion facing the left, a shield and another symbol on the end but I can't make it out. The shield looks like it has 3 identical shapes inside it and the rectangle next to the shield also has a shape inside. There is another mark before the lion and I think that is the maker's mark.possibly J.T. or J.J. My eyes aren't what they used to be and I even used a magnifier. I'm pretty sure that the ground glass stopper is the original one and it is in excellent condition and fits beautifully. The hinged top and collar have no dents. Cracks or repairs and the hinge works perfectly. It clicks when you close it. This lovely bottle measures approximately 4 1/2" tall and 11" in circumference. When held to the light, I noticed a couple of small spots on the bottom and one on a clear panel but think that they are manufacturer flaws.they do not have a rough feel at all but I did want to mention it. There are no dings to to the cut glass sides. But the polished bottom has expected scratches. There are VERY tiny contact dings to the sterling cap; what you might expect for an item of this age. They are too small to photograph well. Atomizer unscrews and lifts out from sterling top. Sterling top is not removable. If you prefer a traditional perfume bottle. Antique Hinged Perfume Bottle, Sterling Silver and Cut Glass; by Mappin & Webb
This gorgeous Victorian perfume bottle was made by the London silversmiths Mappin and Webb. Most likely in the late 1800's. The top is.925 sterling silver, and the bottle is cut class. It is in very good condition, with just a small amount of wear on the bottom of the glass and some chips on one side of the stopper grip. The metal and hinge are excellent. 3-1/4" tall x 2" diameter I tried to magnify the hallmarks inside the lid and on the outside of the cover. One shows what appears to be the sillouette of the Queen. Six Antique Crystal Cut Glass Perfume Scent Bottle Sterling Silver Top Hinged Up for your consideration we have 6 beautiful glass or cut crystal perfume or scent bottles. 5 with hinged tops and one with a screw on top that has an attached glass dipping stick, visible in photo 7. The photos below will be doing most of the explaining for these pieces as they are photos of the exact pieces you will receive. All in all, none of the crystal bodies have any major damage, just a very few fleabites on the bottle with a ball top. I have included photos of all mouths of the bottles to show the condition of the stoppers, if any. I will list the condition of the stoppers by the bottles photo numbers. These lovely pieces are fully hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver. The anchor for the city of Birmingham, and the letter E for 1853. It was made by the Adie Brothers Limited. Antique Perfume/Scent Bottle with Stopper! This is a lovely little scent bottle& stopper. The hallmarks- CM. Anchor, X, Lion Passant, shows it is Sterling(and glass) made by Charles May in Birmingham England in 1897-1898. The bottle stands 4 inches tall to the top of the stopper. As this cute bottle& stopper are over 100 years of age, they do have some tiny chips as shown in the pictures. Still a nice example of a scent bottle from the late 19th century. I am"hallmark impaired" so I don't know how to read these(I really should get a book or something! Here is what the characters are"H& S" Anchor. Lion Passant, some letter I can't make out(It looks like a"fancy" small letter"d" to me? So all you hallmark experts have at it. I always get the most lovely responses- these hallmark experts are just so nice. Anyway, the cut glass pattern has a star in the middle. The collar is actually removable as shown in the photos. No major damage only a a couple tiny nibbles to the top of the stopper and a couple chips to the end of the it. The glass bottle is pristine- I find ... moreno chips, nibbles or cracks anywhere. Even the rim is in excellent condition and you will notice the outside of the neck is ground a bit rough. Perhaps at one time the collar actually secured to the bottle( But it makes no difference ~ it is gorgeous on display. With the stopper in place is it 3 1/2 inches tall and the base is square, 1 3/8" x 1 3/8" My guess is it is English from"across the pond" but as to the maker and date ~ we will leave it to the experts and I will let you know what I hear. The gorgeous repousse lid is detailed with scrolls and flowers and a center shield. Which is un-monogrammed. The hallmark, showing JD over WD, Sheffield, 925, and 1904, is on the collar of the lid. It is in excellent antique condition. With very minor wear, considering its age. Details: The exterior cut glass has no damage, chips or cracks that I see. Very minor shelf wear on the bottom. The silver collar inside the bottle has a small dent, visible in the photos, and only seen when the sterling top is off. The inside edge of the bottle has a thumbnail size hairline crack, which is stable(see photos) The multi-faceted stopper has one fleabite chip on a facet, and a couple of fleabites on the ... moretop and bottom edges, commensurate with use. The repousse part of the sterling lid is almost flawless. With no dents or damage seen. There are a few pin-prick size dents on the collar of the lid. Only noticeable upon close inspection.
