An absolutely Super Ship in a Bottle. I have seen many examples of these over the years. But I love the Folksy Art addition in this piece, namely the row of old wooden buildings in the back. The one all the way on the right and the one all the way to the left appear to be Windmills, so one would presume that this is a Dutch scene. The ship has a name written on the front, so it is obviously the Sailing Ship/Schooner Erna. I don't know the exact age of this piece, but the bottle certainly appears to have quite a bit of age to it. No chips or cracks to the bottle. Part of the cork is missing, but that certainly doesn't detract from the appearance of the piece. Comes with its own stand, as can be seen in the photographs. This came from a collection kept in the garage for years by my brother-in-law who was a practicing doctor as was his father and grandfather before him. He died at age 93. I know very little else about it except that it is sturdy. Thick glass with an indentation for a label. The stopper fits nice and snug. They both look to be from the early 20th century. Scrolling foliate and petite flowers encompass the silver lid and collar. A blank cartouche tops the hinged lid, opening to reveal a gilt vermeil interior and a cut glass stopper. Hallmarked with the wild boar's head, a French standard for.800/1000 silver. The mark was typically used on small objects of at least 80% pure silver content, close to.925 sterling. Also bearing an silversmith's mark, visible in the photos. Likely that of silversmith Charles Murat, active in 1897, whose workshop was located at 62 rue des Archives in Paris. This a gorgeous Antique Perfume Bottle with Sterling Silver overlay. The silver is thick and design lovely. It has old Hallmarks 925/1000 and Mark is readable as produced in Atteboro. Massachusetts by Saart Brothers in about 1906. Patented. The bottle measures a Large approx. 5 1/2" Tall X 3 1/2 inches high. The stopper is FREE of Chips. however looks like the interior stem has some cracks. Inside there is some crusty debrie which needs to be cleaned out. No dings! Beautiful 40 piece lot of old pressed and cut glass decanter/perfume/cruet stoppers. There is a nice large variety here. This was a great estate find! There are all kinds of shapes. Sizes, and colors. Great for any collectors. Some have some rough edges to the stopper end that does not show when you have it in the bottle. One amber does have a larger chip, it is shown in the last picture. Please look at all of the pictures closely. The largest measures 2 3/4" high by 2" wide. The smallest is 1 1/8" high by 1" wide. Stunning Antique English Cut Crystal & Sterling Silver Perfume Bottle / Flask
A wonderfully tactile scent flask. With it's deeply cut crystal in a series of star cuts within a diamond shaped lozenge. The glass is a beautiful Emerald green fading to clear at the bottom of the flask. The screw-top lid is decorated with repousse work crowned with a circular cartouche which could be engraved by your silversmith if you wished to personalize. The interior is cork filled to avoid evaporation of the precious contents. The silver is of course hallmarked for Birmingham 1899, Victorian in era. The makers initials CM are present for the silversmith, Charles May. Excellent condition, measuring 4 1/4" x 3" x 1" at widest. This highly collectible French crystal perfume bottle is in very good condition. Free of chips or cracks. For the most part, the inside of the bottle is fairly clean. It measures approx. 6" high with the ribbed stopper that has a hand ground tip. The original Art Deco metal type foil label may have been gold tone at one time. Each bottle is triangular shaped and fits perfectly into its own section in the black leather case. The glass bottles are cranberry, green, clear and yellow. Each has a facetted stopper, but I think that one of stoppers may be a replacement. The leather strap on the back of the case is, unfortunately, broken but could easily be repaired with some leather glue.
