An antique 1909 Birmingham hallmarked Asprey& Co. sterling silver mounted glass cream pitcher. The petite size pitcher measures 3 5/8" height. It is in very nice condition with no chips or cracks but does show a couple of small scratches on the edge near the base. The silver is in perfect condition and the lid opens and closes properly. The base shows a starburst pattern. Nice item from a top maker. Starts low with no reserve. On Feb-09-13 at 12:49:44 PST. Unusual VINTAGE Solid Silver Mounted Match Striker Hallmarked 1937 Sterling NR Super Condition- Birmingham: John Grinsell-VERY RARE This is a gorgeous VINTAGE sterling silver mounted cream ceramic match striker which was made in Birmingham. England in 1937 by the illustrious Victorian silversmiths, John Grinsell& Sons at their St Georges Street workshops. It measures 3 1/2" in diameter by 2 7/8" high and is recessed to hold matches. It is NOT engraved. It weighs 688.1 grams- well over 22 troy oz. The ceramic base is in super condition with no cracks. And NO fleabites to the base rim- SUPERB. The silver rim is in pretty good condition with just the usual light surface scratching and a few dings and dents and it is still firm- SUPER. It is hallmarked with JG&S, anchor, lion passant(sterling silver assay mark) N showing that ... moreit was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1937. This exquisite boxed pair of cut glass salts with silver mounts are hall marked sterling silver with the date code for Birmingham 1922. The silver spoon carries the same hallmark. All three pieces are stamped with"SML" maker's mark(possibly Stanley Morris Limited) One of the glasses has a small chip on the foot(see photos below) which I only noticed when inspecting the enlarged photo. Both silver mounts have minor dents(see photos) commensurate with their age and having been used. But nothing disfiguring in my opinion. The spoon is undamaged and appears to be unused. Both salts are approx 2 inches in diameter and stand approx 1.6 inches high, the spoon is approx 2.5 inches long. The fitted box is original and in good condition for its age with only minor scuffs and signs of wear. This is a classic shape and design and it was made in PERU probably in the last half of the 2OTH century but that is only a guess. This is signed' MADE IN PERU JFM 925' on the bottom. We do not know what JFM stands for but we have seen other pieces with this hallmark. Usually jewelry. This was tested& it does test out as.925 SILVER. One can see in the photo below a small scratch above the hallmark where the acid test was made. On our postal scale it weighs 15O grams. But this is a POSTAL SCALE& NOT a JEWELRY SCALE so please allow a gram or two either way on this. Besides this is too nice a piece to scrap anyway. This is a vintage solid shank sterling silver mounted curb bit marked with the Crockett Renalde mark on the port. Crockett is listed in Bit and Spur Makers in the Texas Tradition by Ned and Jody Martin and Kurt House. This bit is style No. 1728 as shown in the Crockett Renalde Crockett& Kelly catalog No. 65 on page 9. The bit is steel mounted with engraved sterling silver in the shape of a diamond back rattlesnake down each cheek piece. There is some flaking on the black finish and rust on the steel. The bit is not bent. Broken, or repaired. This would be a nice bit to add to your collection or it could still be used today. Gorgeous Vintage Fleming Style Sterling Silver Spurs W/ Sterling Mounted Straps
This is a gorgeous vintage pair of Fleming style sterling silver overlaid spurs with great sterling silver mounted spur straps. The spurs are about 1 1/2" wide with a 3" shank with beautiful and detailed engraving. The boot opening is about 2 7/8" wide and 3 1/2" deep. They are marked Mexico on the bottom of the shank. The spur straps have sterling silver overlaid buckles and keepers with a 1 1/2 sterling Concho. The buckles are marked Sterling and I believe also marked Fleming. The mark is slightly worn and a bit hard to read. The leather on one of the straps looks a bit sun bleached but could easily be fixed with a good oiling. These spurs are in terrific condition so they can be used and they are nice enough to add to a collection. This bit is hand engraved sterling silver bands inlaid along the shank and slobber bar really setting off the Elko star pattern shank just perfect. The shank measures 8" The spade mouth measures 5" with some rust showing on the bar. The spoon spade port has copper wound bars with a copper inlaid bands cricket. Sterling button rein rings. A 1938 London double hallmarked Robert Pringle& Sons sterling silver mounted horse hoof inkwell complete with shoe. Very nice all around condition. The top fits neatly around the coronet and back at the heel. The shoe is also tight to the sole. It's full size and thick(5mm wide) The silver is in nice shape with only 1 tiny ding back at the heel. The lid hinge is tight with no wiggle. The glass insert is free of chips or cracks but does show light ink residue which would clean up. The hoof wall is in good condition with a small scrape at the back near near the base. The sole is a little beat up but it really doesn't matter. It's 95% intact. The hoof measures 6" toe to heel x 4 3/4" wide x 3" height. Gross weight without the glass insert is 20.8 troy ounces and I'm confident that at least 15 of them are sterling ... moresilver. Picked up a very nice vintage western one eared headstall crown piece today with an earpiece that is marked sterling& I believe it is old Keyston Bros but could have been during the time of company purchases of Heiser or Lichtenberger as well as i have seen the horseheadused on all 3. I do not want to take the piece apart to see if there is a maker on the back. The back is within 2 layers of leather.Very nice engraving& the horse is sterling too not bronze or gold. Vintage Olsen Nolte SF Sterling Silver Mounted Patrol San Mateo Belt Buckle
Vintage Olsen Nolte of San Francisco. Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County Fall Ride belt buckle. The buckle I believe dates to the 1940s or 1950s. The company was founded in San Francisco in the late 1930s and by the 1950s was the premier saddlery company on the west coast. The buckle is sterling silver with gold filled banners at the top and bottom of the piece. I am unsure of what the middle emblem is made of. Buckle measures 3" X 2" A little about the history of the Mounted Patrol: The Mounted Patrol of San Mateo County came into being March 31, 1942, four months after Pearl Harbor Day. San Mateo County had many miles of rough, almost virgin country and unprotected coastline accessible only on horseback. Military support and protection against subversion were the principle needs that provoked the founding of the Patrol. The Mounted ... morePatrol provided protection to our shores during the war period and provided search parties in these areas as required by the authorities. The buckle is in very good condition with no wear to the engraving of the silver, the gold banners have a little wear, with some light scratches, the emblem in the middle has the most wear, it is a mix of silver and copper colour, i don't know if it was chrome plated copper and the copper is wearing through or rose gold plated silver and the silver is showing through, even with the wear in the middle the belt is still a gorgeous piece of California military history. Swedish sterling silver dish mounted on black bakelite. It may be a Wine Bottle Caster. Design on the front. Mythological Gods- Minotaur. Neptune holding Mermaid. Maker GAB Guldsmeds Aktiebolaget, Three Crowns, S, Z8(1950) and the last mark I cannot make out. Appraised in 2001 at a value of $150.00 There is a small dent on the side of the caster.
