Richard Hudnut 1915: Rare Original 8 oz. Bottle of "Three Flowers" EDT. Empty.
Richard Hudnut was one of the first American chemists who got the idea of producing French-style perfumes. Something he started in 1880 with his"Queen Anne" fragrance. He had the bright marketing dea of selling his perfumes"on approval" meaning that nhe refunded customers who were not pleased with what they smelled. His being an(already) fairly large mail order business, customers could not try samples and he made up for it. After"Queen Anne" he continued with"Violet sec" Aimée" DuBarry" and"Vanity" Hi final and best known perfume was"Three Flowers" in 1915. Having earned a considerable fortune, he retired to France in 1916 after selling the company. Here is a large bottle of"Three Flowers" Eau de Toilette. Measuring 5.5" in length and height, 2" ... morein width, made of heavy clear and frosted glass. The content is 8 oz, as mentioned on one of the 3 labels(see photos) The weight(empty) is close to 0.6 Lb. The condition is very good except for microscopic fleabites on the stopper. In good condition. No chips or cracks, but the stopper is stuck, a little hot and cold water should loosen it. I believe the stopper is crystal. Measures 3" tall. I try to find any defects but I can't guarentee I'll see them all. No returns unless item is not as described. This is an older piece and therefor is no longer perfect as the day it was made. Antique Richard Hudnut Co. Perfume Bottle This antique perfume bottle dates back to around 1900. Violet Sec was one of the first perfumes manufactured by the Richard Hudnut Co. The bottle is in excellent condition. It has frosted and clear glass. The stopper is beautifully etched with flowers. This is an 8 oz. bottle and it still has the original labels on the front and back. This bottle comes from my family’s estate and has been stored indoors in a smoke free home since its purchase in the early 20th century. Today we have on auction a Vintage Richard Hudnut Three Flowers Perfume Bottle with the Glass Applicator and Brass Cover from around 1915. The glass bottle and glass applicator are in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The Brass cover is a little tarnished. But looks great. Stamped on the top of the cover is THREE FLOWERS and on the side it is stamped RICHARD HUDNUT. It measures about 2 3/4" tall and the glass oval is 3/4"x1/2" Diameter) and the applicator is 2 1/4" long. I have shown several pictures to try and capture the lettering. The bottle is EMPTY. I believe this is a rather rare perfume bottle that still has the original glass applicator and brass cover. Please view the pictures as they are part of the description. VERY RARE ANTIQUE PERFUME " WATTEAU "1920 RICHARD HUDNUT NEW YORK - ALMOST FULL
Very Rare Estate Fine- Antique 1920"Watteau" Perfume by Richard Hudnut. New York. The bottle is in the art deco style of the period, and it measures appx 3.5" tall x 2.5" wide at the widest point. The bottle is almost full(please see photos for perfume level) The overall condition is very good for it's age. There are no major dings, chips or cracks. The only area I can find is a little rough edge on the back bottom edge of the top cap- not noticeable but mentioned for accuracy. Please see photos as this is very hard to detect. Please also note this bottle has not been cleaned as not to disturb it's integrity- any cleaning will be left to the discretion of the purchaser.
