Antique Green Opaline Glass Scent or Cologne Bottle FAB- Opal Opalino Bristol. This gorgeous. Mouth blown, antique scent bottle dates to the second half of the 19th Century, and is made of opaline glass, in a scarce green color. The stopper is original. It could have been made in France, or Bohemia. The glass is too thick and substantial to be English Bristol glass. It stands 8.75" tall(6.75" to the rim) and features simple and elegant enameling and gold gilding. It is in excellent condition for its age, with some wear and fading to the decoration, and a slice of glass off the inserting end of the stopper as seen in the last two pictures. There is a pontil scar on the bottom, and the number'5' painted on, which would have matched the same on the bottom of the stopper if it had not been sliced off. The stopper still seals, ... moreand sits firmly, and the damage is not seen when inserted. This is original 19th Century opaline glass, not a 20th century piece. There is no funky marriage between bottle and stopper. Even if it had no stopper it would be a cologne bottle- not a vase. I find no chips, cracks or other detractors. Bottle measures about 10 inches tall with stopper, 6 3/4 inches without, 3 1/4 inches across widest part, 2 1/4 inches across the base. Bowl measures about 4 3/4 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches across top, 3 1/4 inches across base and 4 1/2 inches across widest part. This might have had a lid at one time. I found these in my Mom's things, she loved blue glass. No idea where she got them or what they are. Did research on ebay, but couldn't find the exact type. The dauber is not included. It has a satin or frosted appearance. It has gold trim on the crown rim. There is also gold around the base. It looks like there was trim around the section above the bulb. There are faint remains of trim there. There is a fleck on the inside of the rim. It is shown in the pictures. It is a Beautiful Off white Custard colored opaline glass with pink and white enamel petite flowers. And gold gilded petals, stems, and accents. The glass is patterned also with criss-cross lines. It measures 6 3/4" tall with the stopper in and is 2 1/2" in diameter. The stopper has a Petite Pink and White Enameled flower with the same gold gilded leaves, stems and accents on the top of it. C1850 French Opaline Glass Perfume, white & blue, enameled, 8", ground pontil
Description: this is a rare and fine example of a perfume flask fabricated in white opaline glass with a contrasting cerulean torus at the waist and a pointed. Flared stopper. The body of the flask is bell-shaped with a wide pillow rim above the foot; it is encircled in a lively band of Florentine scrolls in yellow, interspersed with small multicolored flowers. This ornate hand-enameled decoration is further enriched with gold. The neck of the flask widens into a crenellated edge finished in gold. There are six simple gold-painted bands around the body and waist. The blue stopper is almost pagoda-like; on a long stem which protrudes from the neck of the flask, it umbrellas the rim and ends in nine points, again divided and finished in gold. Its upper surface is textured as satin glass. Size: 8" high. Including original stopper, with ... morea full diameter of 4" approx. Condition: very good. There are no breaks and no significant chips that I can find. The stopper has a tiny nick on the underside which I have tried to show in the photos by positioning that point against the book. On the upper surface there is a shaving which shows as a shiny spot; other spots appear to be rubbed. Or may not have etched well at the factory. I think it most likely that the apex tip was ground. The base of the body is very smooth, showing the grind marks of leveling the pontil. There are no identifying marks and no signature. The enameled frieze is in good shape but there does exist some small loss to the gold bands. It is particularly difficult to tell if there is much scratching because of the inherent tiny bubbles in the opaline glass. I have found no nicks to the rim and consider it to be very sharp and well-cut. I have owned this piece for many years and have never seen another alike. Though recently I did come across a similar example, all in blue. Should you wish to take a look at it, it is offered online and should be easy to search. If not, by all means e-mail me for details. BLUE OPALINE GLASS EMBOSSED PAINTED ENAMEL SCENT BOTTLE Ormolu Brass Stand
This French Blue Opaline blown glass scent bottle features embossed raised painted decoration and is displayed in a custom brass filigree stand. It's a lovely bottle when displayed from one side. However it has been damaged and repaired with a crack in the neck on the other side. Also the bottom part of the stopper is broken off and stuck inside the neck of the bottle. The brown stains from what looks like glue residue or perhaps the perfume once inside seem to come off with a little rubbing, but I only tried Windex. I think a stronger solvent or a soaking would remove it which I was hesitant to do. Note that the dark sort of stripe beneath the red and white dotted stripe is worn away on one side and appears to be tarnished silver enamel. Antique French Opaline Bristol Glass Enamel Perfume Bottle Decanters & Open Dish
This mid to late 19th century 3 piece vanity dresser set is either French Opaline or English Bristol Glass. The matching pair of perfume bottle decanters are elegantly topped with branch like stoppers. Both the stoppers and the bottoms are numbered. The accompanying open dish(also numbered) is hand painted with enamel flowers in the same motif as the perfume decanters. All have smooth pontil. The colors are in soft. Muted tones with gold accents. The perfume bottles measure 9 inches high with the open dish measuring 3 inches high and 2 3/4 inches in diameter. There are some condition issues to be noted. One of the branches on one bottle is broken as pictured and the other stopper has a slight break on one of the branches which is hardly noticeable. I don't think this detracts from the overall beauty of the decanters at all. But you can ... morejudge for yourself from the pictures. The gold rim is rubbed on the top of one of the decanters. There also seems to be some enamel loss on the rim around one of them. This is also pictured. There is some gilt rub on the open dish, as well. Ebay Listing Page Antique Green Opaline Diamond Sawtooth Jadite Glass Cologne Perfume Bottle Item Description: Up for auction is a beautiful antique opaline glass cologne or perfume bottle manufactured in Europe during the late 1800s. The bottle is made of green jade-colored glass with a diamond sawtooth pattern around its bulbous middle. The bottle has a hollow blown glass stopper which fits snugly. And the bottle stands approximately 6 3/4" tall. There are no markings to indicate the maker of this piece, but I would guess it to be French in origin. Item Condition: The overall condition of the bottle is very good. It has no chips. Cracks, or repaired areas, with the exception of standard roughness around the neck where the stopper fits, and a small area on the side where the sawtooth pattern either flaked across its points or it has ... morea manufacturing flaw. The green color is strong and the glass can be expected to have minor imperfections to include scratches, airbubbles, and strawmarks that are associated with older glass.
