Antique French Victorian Palais Royal Perfume Box, c.1850
A beautiful shell and gilt metal articulated perfume casket. These were very popular in France from about 1840 to 1860. This one is in excellent condition: a small chip in the alabaster base. And the little glass stoppers are missing, but other than that-perfect! It opens with a spring mechanism: you push down on the leaf at the top and the two shells open to reveal the two perfume bottles inside. The bottles are very heavy for their size. So are probably crystal. Dimensions: 14.5 centimetres high. The base measures 6cm in diameter. A note about SHIPPING: yes. I will combine orders for one shipping price. WELCOME FRIENDS! Beautiful floral. Fruit, and gold hand blown glass French perfume bottle from the 1850s. The blue flowers on the face and rear of the bottle are hand painted with raised beading to give the piece a real textured appearance. The gold trim still has a lovely glimmer considering it was painted over 150 years ago! I did notice what look like a chip on the bottom corner, but when I took my loop out and look at it, the gold paint covers the chip. I would consider this a manufactures defect. There are several small chips in this bottom area. But two of them are also covered with gold paint. There is one small chip around this bottom area. Please look at the photos and notate. Wonderful set of 3 Victorian hand painted? Opaline bottles from a local. High end East Grand Rapids estate. Family was originally from Connecticut and had lots of good taste! Great set here! The two tall bottles stand about 6 inches tall and 3 inches wide. The shorter container is 4 1/2 inches tall and is about 4 inches wide. Bowl measures about 4 3/4 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches across top, 3 1/4 inches across base and 4 1/2 inches across widest part. This might have had a lid at one time. I found these in my Mom's things, she loved blue glass. No idea where she got them or what they are. Did research on ebay, but couldn't find the exact type.
