A very fine 19th C. Venetian Murano Portrait Cane Glass Perfume/Scent Bottle. The portrait cane features a king or nobelman. The bottle is oval in form and is 3" long from the gilt metal cap and cut blue glass stone to the base. And 1-3/8" wide. Wonderful colors predominated by red, blues and turquoise and covered in a gold glitter. Overall excellent condition with some normal wee imperfections in the glass and one pin head sized rough spot on the side edge. The glass stopper may not be original. Antique authentic heavy Venetian perfume bottle with lavender body containg 19 complex twist canes in blue/white. White/white, black/white, orange/yellow/pale blue repeating in a double gourd shape. There would of originally been a cork to fit over the brass stopper legs which is long gone but could easily be replaced. Perfect condition with no chips, cracks or damage. Age is approximately circa 1850- 1860. This is an authentic item that is NOT a reproduction. Measures 6.25 inches high x 2.75 inches at it widest point x 1.25 thick. Antique VENETIAN ART GLASS CHATELAINE Perfume Bottle Red Jeweled Lid ADVENTURINE
Item Description While starting bids may vary I ALWAYS POST WITH NO RESERVE! Up for auction is a gorgeous Venetian art glass chatelaine with red jeweled lid. The bottle is made of navy blue glass swirled with some sparkly gold aventurine. The result is a mix of gold and different shades of blue. These little bottles are so precious and the beautiful glass is what makes them so special. Each one is unique and there are no two alike. I sold one a couple weeks ago that was round. This one is a little larger and more oval shaped. I do not see any chips or loss of the outer glass. I do see several pin prick sized pits where the swirled glass colors did not meet smoothly or a tiny bubble popped. This is normal for this kind of glass. This type of glass is also multi-layered so any surface marks from the creation do not really go through to the ... moreinside of the bottle. The glaze on this one is actually in remarkable condition for it's age. Most of these were made c. 1880- 1900. The lid is in good condition except for a small dent and a very tiny hole which I have shown in the photos for you. The metal around the top red jewel also appears slightly bent in one area. Of course I am looking at this with a very critical eye so that I mention everything. Having a jeweled top is a little more rare as most have just the plain brass lid. This lid also has a lovely raised design. All the hardware is secure to the bottle and the hinge is in proper working order. The chain and finger ring are intact. It also has it's internal glass stopper. The stopper is so small but there are a couple microscopic nips to the bottom edge. The inside glass rim is intact. It is 4 1/2 inches long with the chain extended. Just the bottle is about 3 inches long/tall from bottom to the top of the jewel. It is about 1 3/8 inches in diameter at the widest. Antique Venetian Murano Glass Chatelaine SCENT BOTTLE Franchini Bigaglia c1850
You are viewing two glass bottles. I am offering them at no reserve with a low opening bid. The first is a mid-nineteenth Century Venetian scent bottle with a bronze or brass lid topped with a green glass cabochon. The body of the bottle is a vivid pale blue with silver foil within the glass. I believe that bottle was made in Italy around 1850. Possibly by Giacomo Franchini and Pietro Bigaglia. It measures approximately 2 7\8 inches in length(not including the chain which would most likely attach the perfume to a chatelaine or belt) It is in"as is" condition with chips. Especially on the edge of the oval body; some splitting to the cap near the hinge; and corrosion on the chain. Please refer to photos or feel free to email me with any specific condition questions you might have. The second bottle is somewhat plainer but interesting ... morenonetheless. I think it might be a medical bottle. But it could have been used for perfume as well. It is a French bottle, circa probably 1870. When I was finally able to remove the glass stopper(after days of soaking in olive oil( there was a strong smell of ammonia. I have got rid of this and washed out the bottle. There is some embossed writing in gold on front of the leather case and some writing in pen between the top and bottom of the case when you open it. The glass bottle has no chips or cracks. Original stopper and case. Minor wear and tear to case. The bottle measures approximately 1 3\4 inches tall; the cylindrical case is approximately 3 inches tall.
